Chapter 414 414: Burn the World, Save the Future
Tsunade and Uzumaki Mito exchanged a glance, a subtle shiver running down their spines.
For some reason, after hearing Senju Tobirama's particular choice of words, the two women couldn't help but feel a vague sense of unease.
"Conquered?"
What exactly did he mean by that? Did he defeat the enemy through battle… or was it something else entirely?
It was a strange intuition—but one they couldn't shake. Something just felt off...
"It's not like that. On the contrary, we must continue training the Allied Shinobi Forces—but the focus should shift toward developing the overall chakra reserves of our shinobi."
Then—
Senju Tobirama began laying out all the intel he had on the Ōtsutsuki clan: their origins, the pursuers that were on their way, the story of the Sage of Six Paths and his brother, and Kaguya herself…
Everyone's brows furrowed tightly.
They were finally beginning to understand why such an important meeting hadn't included the Sage of Six Paths and his brother.
Because those two were absolute disasters.
Unstoppable enemies could descend on the shinobi world at any moment—and yet, Indra had turned on his own brother in pursuit of power, while Asura was off chasing some naïve dream about mutual understanding and peace…
"Sometimes, I really feel like this whole world is just one giant Hiruzen…"
Tobirama swept his gaze across everyone's reactions and called them out bluntly: "Even those so-called sages—when it comes to actually doing things, they're no better than a bunch of amateurs."
Everyone was stunned.
But somehow… this Third Hokage did resemble that Sage of Six Paths a little bit.
For example, when it came to choosing the next Hokage—if Kazuki hadn't appeared when he did, the so-called 'Legendary Sannin' might've torn themselves apart competing for the position… and that was while the shinobi world was surrounded on all sides by hostile hidden villages.
Yeah… the resemblance was a little too real.
Sarutobi Hiruzen could only let out an awkward laugh, grumbling inwardly,
Tobirama-sensei, you really do hold a grudge… I only laughed a little.
Comparing me to the Sage of Six Paths is kind of insulting!
Tobirama gave a satisfied glance at his now-flustered disciple, cleared his throat, and continued: "As for Kazuki's strategy—this is what he's planning…"
With that—
Tobirama began detailing Kazuki's plan.
Step one: Kazuki would open the Gate of Death. And if even that wasn't enough to win, then he would be forced to make contact with the planetary consciousness and the remnants of the Ōtsutsuki God.
Step two: In order to prevent himself from losing control, Kazuki was prepared to transform himself into a weapon.
By the time Tobirama finished relaying it all—
Tsunade slammed the table and roared, "This is absolutely unacceptable! Kazuki has already sacrificed so much for the shinobi world—what does it make us, hiding behind him?!"
Sarutobi Hiruzen, brushing aside Tobirama's earlier scolding, also stood up and spoke firmly: "Sensei, even if our strength is nothing compared to the Ōtsutsuki, we can't cling to life in such disgrace…"
Senju Hashirama took in a long, deep breath.
He had never cared much for power, always choosing to pursue peace instead. Back during the First Five Kage Summit, he'd even lowered himself to beg for that peace—and in truth, he'd always felt a bit alone in that ideal.
But today—
Hashirama realized that compared to Kazuki's vision and his fearless self-sacrifice, even the so-called "God of Shinobi" was far from enough…
Uchiha Madara stood up as abruptly as Tsunade, sweeping his arm outward.
"I'm a warrior—not some coward hiding behind the next generation. There's no way I'd sit by and watch Kazuki fight for the entire shinobi world alone!"
Tobirama observed all their reactions with cool calculation—and deep satisfaction.
Good. The emotional pressure was now exactly where it needed to be.
"Just like all of you, I refuse to let Kazuki face the Ōtsutsuki alone…" Tobirama began slowly.
"And that's why—this is what I'm proposing."
When Tobirama laid out his plan—an enormous formation bordering on Infinite Tsukuyomi levels of scale, one that would use dōjutsu to open the Gate of Death in every participating shinobi, linking them all into a single chakra network and transmitting all that energy to Kazuki in one desperate, all-or-nothing gamble—
The room fell silent once again.
"…Tobirama, isn't that a bit too extreme?" Hashirama asked hesitantly.
"Hmph. And how is that any different from Infinite Tsukuyomi?" Madara scoffed and shook his head. "I say we need to rethink this."
Even the more conservative shinobi like Namikaze Minato, Uzumaki Kushina, and Jiraiya—who had long since come to trust Kazuki—couldn't help but feel the plan was far too radical.
Dragging the entire shinobi world into something like this…
In no time at all, voices began clashing throughout the Hokage Building, the discussion devolving into chaos.
"Keep stirring the pot, go on, stir it up!"
Tobirama exploded, roaring with fury: "Keep stirring until Kazuki's out of chakra fighting the Ōtsutsuki, gets defeated, and the shinobi world collapses!"
"It's not your place to criticize me! Every village in this world is sitting on my back—and on Kazuki's!"
"Do you understand?!"
Senju Tobirama's furious roar drowned out all the chaotic discussion!
"Can any of you come up with a better plan?"
"If not—shut up!"
Tobirama cast a cold glance at the indignant Uchiha Madara. "Can you defeat those Ōtsutsuki pursuers that even Kazuki fears?"
"You think the Eternal Mangekyō is that powerful?"
"Have you already forgotten how you were ambushed by Ōtsutsuki Isshiki and ended up lying on the ground, waiting to die?"
Uchiha Madara flared up with rage. "You—!"
But after that single word, he couldn't find anything else to say.
Because what Tobirama had said... was true.
And with Kazuki's level of performance and the power he had demonstrated—if even he was deeply concerned—then such enemies were truly beyond what the shinobi world could hope to resist.
Up to now—
The Allied Shinobi Forces had been able to gather with confidence and motivation to grow stronger only because Kazuki had not come to destroy the shinobi world, but instead left behind a test to be validated...
Not only that, he'd also left behind a retreat for the shinobi world.
In the worst-case scenario, all Kazuki would do was drain the natural energy, forcing the shinobi to migrate to a different space-time where they could survive.
But if Kazuki were an enemy determined to fight the shinobi world to the bitter end...
Then the Allied Shinobi Forces might never have come together at all.
Because Kazuki's overwhelming strength had already imprinted itself deep into everyone's hearts—so much so that they didn't even have the will to resist.
Outside of Konoha, the shinobi from the Five Great Hidden Villages had once tried to hunt down Kazuki during the Third Great Ninja War, only to be instantly annihilated—leaving behind only the Third Raikage, Hanzō, and Ōnoki, who carried the humiliating title of the "Three Survivors."
And within Konoha, those close to Kazuki who had fought alongside him against the Ōtsutsuki knew even more clearly how terrifying his power truly was...
Kazuki was, in essence, the embodiment of everything the shinobi world had to offer. No matter the kekkei genkai, ninjutsu, or taijutsu school, he stood at the very peak of them all.
What's more—he had now absorbed the essence of the Ōtsutsuki.
"Have you figured it out yet? Don't fall back on your habit of reflexively arguing with me. You think you're some kind of big shot in battle or something?"
Tobirama fixed Madara with a cold glare, then turned to the clearly disapproving Senju Hashirama.
"And you? Got any brilliant insights, oh God of Shinobi?"
"Planning to negotiate with the Ōtsutsuki to divide up the shinobi world's chakra?"
Hashirama opened his mouth but ended up turning his head aside, aggrieved.
His little brother had never snapped at him like this before!
With just a few strikes, Senju Tobirama had left the two legendary shinobi utterly defeated—so much so that the others, seeing that even these two were no match for him, obediently shut their mouths.
"I know—my plan sounds a little... reckless."
Tobirama began in a soft voice, before suddenly raising it: "But the only reason you think that is because Kazuki has spoiled you all!"
"You think the shinobi world is strong? You think shinobi are something noble and precious?"
"Forget the elite Ōtsutsuki pursuers—what about the likes of the Sage of Six Paths or Kaguya? Even they were merely branch family members or mixed-blood outcasts among the Ōtsutsuki. And we—what power do we really have to resist them?"
Senju Tobirama held up two fingers.
"Forget everything else—just look at the Sage of Six Paths. The chakra of his two sons has possessed the descendants of the Uchiha and Senju for generations, sparking a thousand years of war... and yet he still considers himself a guardian of peace and order!"
"You really think the Sage sees the living beings of the shinobi world as people? We're nothing more than living tools—used by a father and son to prove a philosophical point!"
"If not for Kazuki, would the Sage of Six Paths have ever stepped out from the Pure Land? Would he have handed over all those secret techniques, spiritual powers, and sage arts he'd hidden away?"
Tobirama turned a cold gaze toward everyone in the shinobi world.
"Have any of you even considered this? What I said about turning the lives of the shinobi into kindling for Kazuki's power—that's only in the event that even after opening the Gate of Death, he still couldn't defeat the Ōtsutsuki pursuers…"
"Kazuki already has the will to sacrifice himself. But he doesn't have to—he could escape. We can't run, but are you seriously telling me that Kazuki wouldn't be able to save himself?"
"Kazuki—who surpasses even the Sage—is willing to fight the Ōtsutsuki for the future of the shinobi world, and yet the shinobi have no resolve to give something back to Kazuki in return?"
Tobirama took a deep breath and roared: "Don't be ridiculous!"
"In a Hidden Village, when the Kage is charging at the front, are the rest of you really going to cower in the back, trying to survive?"
A heavy silence fell.
No one could refute Tobirama's words.
"I know what you're all thinking… even if I'm right, you think we shouldn't force other shinobi to sacrifice themselves—that we should at least get their consent."
Tobirama's gaze swept over Senju Hashirama, Jiraiya, and Namikaze Minato…
Those few he looked at awkwardly averted their eyes and gave a small nod.
"Naive."
Tobirama sneered and shook his head.
"Let me tell you something—if Hanzō, Ōnoki, and the Third Raikage knew that Kazuki was willing to risk his life for the shinobi world and needed support from them…"
"Those bastards would be the first to cheer! They're not like you lot—soaked in that monkey's foolish 'Will of Fire,' or idiots like my brother who can't make clear-headed decisions in a crisis…"
"What they're worried about is that Kazuki might abandon the shinobi world—flee with only us close to him. To tie him down, they might even pretend to be 'moved by Kazuki's conviction' and offer themselves up willingly!"
Arms crossed, Tobirama stated this flatly.
His view of human nature might have been a bit bleak—but what he said did match the consistent behavior of the Hidden Villages in the shinobi world…
"In any case, you don't need to worry! To resist the planetary will, I'll need shinobi working in unison to sustain the great formation. Unless absolutely necessary, I won't force anyone!"
Tobirama's voice dropped into a stern, heavy tone: "And even if it comes to burning the lives of other shinobi—I'll be the one to do it myself."
"Let them suffer—I'll take the blame!"
"What we really need to do now is find a way to bring the Sage of Six Paths, Ōtsutsuki Hamura, Indra, and Asura into our formation!"
"If we can get those mixed-blood Ōtsutsuki to burn their chakra too, then the chakra supporting Kazuki will be greatly amplified!"
"And as for the so-called Three Great Sage Regions…"
Senju Tobirama swept his gaze across the assembled Konoha shinobi.
"Now then—are there any among you who don't wish to join us? I won't force you. You're free to leave, as long as you keep today's conversation strictly confidential."
But the Konoha shinobi all shook their heads.
How could they not support Kazuki?
Even the most conservative among them—those aligned with Jiraiya and Namikaze Minato—genuinely believed from the bottom of their hearts that they ought to contribute something to Kazuki. It was just that deceiving the other Hidden Villages and forcefully initiating this ritual, which resembled a sacrificial ceremony, felt… somewhat incompatible with the Will of Fire.
But Tobirama had laid it all out so clearly—and the situation was this dire—
That clinging to the old scriptures of the Will of Fire seemed meaningless now.
