Chapter 61: Ch-61: Great 8 Family Heirs (1)
Few minutes ago
"Ice arrows!"
Whoosh Whoosh
A cold feminine voice echoed as dozens of arrows made of pure ice flew through the sky and pierced the monsters ahead.
"Thanks, Olivia," Rachel said as she looked at the cold beauty and gave a thumbs up, while Olivia just rolled her eyes.
Clatter
"What the hell, Blinky, why the hell would you bring me this rotten skull?" Rachel said as she looked at the summoned skeleton knight who shoved the skull of a monster toward her face, and she leapt back like a startled cat.
The skeleton dumbly rubbed its head as it looked at Rachel. She just sighed and rubbed her temples.
"Even though they are strong, they sure are dumb," Rachel said as she deactivated her summons, and all the skeletons which were scavenging through the corpses vanished.
"What do you expect? Do you think skeletons have brains to think?" Andrew said while resting a stone warhammer on his shoulder, which was smeared in blood, and snorted. "And who even names a skeleton Blinky? You are really childish sometimes."
"Hmph." Rachel just snorted and looked away, refusing to say anything, as she knew his words were correct; many times she acted like a childish brat. No one except these three and the members of the top families would say that to her face.
Olivia sighed hearing their bickering and opened the player ranking, and her eyebrows twitched a bit.
[Player Leaderboards]
Faceless (Level 100)
Olivia (Level 30)
Andrew (Level 28)
Rachel (Level 25)
’How is he so high?’ She had seen this ranking weeks ago and was shocked; Faceless was already Level 100 when they had just reached 20. Not only her, but the whole player community was in uproar, and many accused him of cheating and petitioned the developers to ban him. But not only did the developers not respond, Faceless also remained silent. Meanwhile, offers from top forces to recruit Faceless had increased significantly.
"Damn, how the hell is that guy at such a high level? I killed so many monsters and still barely reached Level 30," Andrew cursed as he looked at the player ranking like Olivia. Every time he saw the ranking, he felt uncomfortable.
"Could this guy be cheating? Other than that, there is no plausible explanation," Rachel said with furrowed eyebrows, and even Olivia frowned and said in a cold voice, "Maybe he got lucky and found some kind of high-rank item which increases the drop rate or gives more experience."
"That... could be the reason," Andrew frowned and nodded; that seemed like a plausible explanation.
He did not think for one second that he knew the developer of the game. Even the top families had given up their search, as they found it impossible to trace the creators; even his own family could not find a single clue. And if this guy, Faceless, was from one of the Eight Great Families, they would know, as someone this talented and close to them would be impossible to keep under the radar.
Suddenly, everyone’s thoughts were interrupted when they saw a new row of text appear on their screen.
[Earth Server Announcement]
[First World Event Announcement]
"Event?" They hurriedly clicked on the link, and their eyes widened as they read the description.
"World Event..." Andrew mumbled.
"Hey, do you know where this Silvernum territory is?" Rachel asked, looking at Olivia and Andrew, who just shrugged their shoulders.
"Eh, do you think we should also form our own guild? Weren’t our families asking us to join their guilds? Weren’t a few others also thinking of forming their own guild and not relying on their families?" Andrew asked, and both women fell into thought.
"I guess the three of us could form a guild and later advertise it, and this event is the perfect time to start one," Olivia said. She had been planning to create a guild for some time, seeing others form their own guilds.
"Good idea, we are the top players except for that anomaly. I am sure many would join us," Rachel said with excitement.
"Who would be the leader?" Rachel asked, and felt a pair of eyes locked onto her, which made her squirm. Even Andrew felt uncomfortable as he noticed Olivia looking at him.
"Eh, I think Olivia would be the perfect one," Andrew said hurriedly.
"Yeah, yeah, I also agree. What do you say, Olivia?" Rachel nodded rapidly, and both sighed in relief as they felt the intensity of her gaze decrease.
"Fine, I agree," Olivia said with a shrug, as if it did not matter to her, but they did not miss the slight curl of her lips.
Rachel then looked at Olivia and asked, "Do you have a name?"
A new invitation appeared on Andrew and Rachel’s screens.
[You have been invited by Player Olivia to join the Angel Wing Guild]
"Angel Wing?" Andrew raised an eyebrow.
"Oh, nice name," Rachel’s eyes lit up.
Then a new message appeared before Olivia.
[Ding Ding]
[Player Rachel and Andrew have joined your guild]
"Hey, look, those guys are inviting us to join the raid." Olivia and Rachel frowned as they opened their own chats.
---------
Great 8 Family Heir Chat
Mathew Hayes: @Olivia, @Rachel, @Andrew, do you want to accompany my guild and form a temporary partnership and team up for the raid?
Ruby Scarlet: Heh, you still have the gall to show your face here—didn’t you get pummeled by that NPC?
Mathew Hayes: Damn, bitch, are you trying to start a fight with me?
Rachel Lionheart: Pfft, who would join a loser like you? That "young master" scene where you demanded 50% from a random NPC was just—Pfft, too funny 🤣🤣
Valerie Valemint: Roasted 😆😆😆
Ruby Scarlet: +1
Julian Walker: +1
Rachel Lionheart: +1
Mathew Hayes: Damn you all 😡😡😡😡
Andrew Briarstone: We have already formed our own guild, and Olivia is the leader.
Regal Roshfield: Is it true @Olivia?
Olivia Thornfield: Yes.
Regal Roshfield: ...I see. Congratulations.
-------
"Hmph." Olivia sneered reading the congratulations, especially Regal’s, as she knew he was the most untrustworthy and backstabbing. In fact, everyone in the chat considered each other enemies unless they were family friends, like she was with Rachel and Andrew, who was her cousin. Every family wanted to crush the others and preferred to be the sole one remaining in power and controlling the world, and recently, with the arrival of Awakeners, the competition had become fiercer.
"Post the recruitment notice on the forum," Olivia said in a cold tone, to which Rachel and Andrew turned solemn and nodded.
