Chapter 174: Poisoned
Ye Heng immediately grew wary. "What is it?"
Ye Chutang looked at him, her gaze calm. "I heard he fainted during his argument with Second Uncle. I don’t know what his condition is now, but Su Pei’er begged me to save him. Although he and I have had our disagreements, a life is at stake. So please, Second Uncle, tell me where Han Yao is right now."
Ye Heng was instantly flustered. "Hey, that’s not how it happened! I just came to check on him, to make sure he wouldn’t do anything foolish after finding out about his father. There was no argument!"
A faint, mocking smile touched Ye Chutang’s lips. "Is that so? If that’s the case, then why did Su Pei’er threaten to kill herself, ending up in her current state?"
Hearing this, Ye Heng’s heart leaped into his throat. "What happened to her!?"
’Su Pei’er can’t die! If she dies, I’ll never be able to clear my name!’
"Her condition isn’t good. Whether she lives or not will depend on if she’s lucky enough." Ye Chutang paused. "She was wounded by Second Uncle’s sword. Shouldn’t you know best?"
Ye Heng’s mind exploded.
"What nonsense are you spouting! She clearly threw herself onto it! What does that have to do with me—"
"As I recall, Lord Ye is skilled in martial arts. Since when can a weak woman cause Lord Ye such trouble?" Su Wei, who had been sitting to the side, spoke up unexpectedly, leaving Ye Heng speechless.
Ye Heng forced himself to calm down. It would have been one thing if it were just Ye Chutang, but the key was that Su Wei was also here!
After struggling for a good while, Ye Heng finally grit his teeth and said, "Someone! Take Second Miss Ye to treat Han Yao!"
Ye Chutang gave a wry smile. "Second Uncle is truly impressive. Now you’re even making decisions for the Han Family."
"You!"
A vein throbbed on Ye Heng’s forehead, but he couldn’t lash out in front of Su Wei and could only force himself to endure it.
"It’s still no match for you. You’re clearly injured, yet you don’t rest for a single moment!"
Ye Chutang raised an eyebrow slightly.
"Second Uncle is certainly well-informed."
Ye Heng obviously already knew that she had driven away all those shopkeepers.
But that was fine. She had made such a scene precisely so Ye Heng would find out.
’Leaving other things aside, it was always easy to annoy him a little.’
Ye Chutang came to another room. Unlike where Su Pei’er had been, this one was clearly guarded by many more people.
Even though Han Yao was unconscious, Ye Heng hadn’t let his guard down completely.
Ye Chutang pushed the door open and went in.
The people outside peered into the room, their gazes never leaving for a second.
Ye Chutang ignored them completely. She walked to the bed and saw Han Yao lying stiffly, his eyes shut tight and his breathing faint.
He only seemed to have some minor superficial wounds, but if that were truly all, he shouldn’t have been unconscious for so long.
"How long has he been unconscious?" Ye Chutang asked.
"Huh? Uh, uh..." one of the guards in charge stammered. "For a while now... That little miss, Su-something, only started making a scene after she saw him pass out."
Ye Chutang began to take Han Yao’s pulse.
The room fell utterly silent. It was the guard who broke the silence first, unable to stop himself from explaining, "Actually, we didn’t really do much to him. He just got too worked up and passed out. It’s nothing serious—"
Ye Chutang’s eyes narrowed slightly.
’This pulse... he’s been poisoned.’
’I had actually considered this possibility. The crucial thing is—’
’Is the poison in Han Yao the same as the one Shen Yanchuan initially had?’
