Chapter 100: The Ascension Ritual, Kingdom in the Clouds
The Citadel of Obsidian hovered ten thousand feet above the mortal plane.
Lucifer stood in the center of the main courtyard. The initial spatial lock had torn the mountain from the earth, but it was just a brute-force levitation.
The massive island of black stone, iron, and ice was draining his Archmage core to stay aloft.
To turn a floating rock into an unstoppable sky-fortress, he needed to make the flight permanent.
"The ground is too small for us," Lucifer stated smoothly. His voice carried across the silent, packed courtyard.
Thirteen million mortal soldiers stood at attention. The fifty thousand Glacial Wyrms roosted on the high, black-stone battlements.
"Celeste," Lucifer commanded over the comms rune. "Secure all loose assets. Lock the heavy transport wagons to the courtyard rings. The acceleration is going to be violent."
"Understood, Grand Marshal," the High Ranger replied instantly. She barked orders, her Phantom Rangers moving rapidly to secure the millions of tons of looted Umbral Ore.
Lucifer turned his back on the courtyard.
He walked up the wide, obsidian stairs leading into the central keep. He pushed the massive iron doors open.
The grand hall was a cavernous space of polished black stone. At the far end of the room sat a massive, heavy throne carved from a single block of dark matter and iron. Floating spheres of starlight illuminated the dark walls.
His core commanders were already waiting for him.
Elara stood to the right of the throne. The Valkyrie wore her Mythic Void-Weave armor, her Twilight wings shifting silently. Lyra, the Dawn Saintess, stood to the left, her silver battle armor gleaming with a fierce, blinding white holy aura.
Vexia floated near the ceiling on her red bat wings. The Sanguine Princess was exhausted but grinning.
"The Sanguine Wards are woven, Warlord," Vexia reported, landing gracefully on the polished floor. Her red eyes burned with pride.
"The blood grid is embedded into the outer walls and the Cryo-Pylons. If an enemy touches the perimeter, the fortress will drain them dry and feed the energy directly into the central core."
"Perfect," Lucifer said.
Sarah stood directly in front of the dark throne. The Star-Touched Oracle held the restored Celestial Chart of Zephyria. The silver runes on the heavy stone tablet pulsed with intense, rhythmic cosmic light.
Isolde, the Winter Sovereign, stood by the massive arched windows. Her ice-crystal gown clinked as she turned to face Lucifer.
"My brood is anchored to the battlements," Isolde announced. Her white reptilian eyes locked onto his. "We are ready for the high atmosphere, Warlord."
Lucifer walked down the center aisle of the grand hall. His heavy iron boots echoed loudly in the silent room.
He reached the dais. He did not sit on the throne yet.
"The temporary spatial lock is ending," Lucifer declared. "We are engaging the absolute flight protocols."
He opened his Dimensional Vault.
He reached for the master control node of the Void-Core Reactor.
Deep underground, inside the Aether-Forge, the massive Mythic engine thrummed. Lucifer used his Void Arcanist magic to extract the primary interface of the reactor, pulling it directly into the throne room.
A glowing, ten-foot sphere of swirling blue and purple energy materialized in the air above the dais.

"Sarah," Lucifer commanded.
The Oracle stepped forward. She did not hesitate. She placed the heavy stone tablet of the Celestial Chart flat onto the floor, directly beneath the hovering reactor node.
She raised her Scepter of Cosmic Alignment. The violet orb flared.
"Cosmic Sync," Sarah whispered.
She drove the base of her staff into the center of the tablet.
The silver runes on the Celestial Chart erupted. A blinding beam of pure starlight shot upward, piercing the hovering Void-Core node. The ancient Precursor map instantly merged with the Mythic engine.

Lucifer raised his right hand. The Gauntlet of the Void King crackled with fierce, pitch-black lightning.
He stepped directly into the beam of starlight. He grabbed the swirling blue and purple energy of the reactor node with his bare iron fingers.
"System," Lucifer roared. His voice vibrated through the black stone, carrying the absolute, crushing weight of the God-Slayer.
[Target Acquired: Citadel of Obsidian.]
[Engine Linked: Void-Core Reactor.]
"Initiate the Ascension Ritual," Lucifer commanded. "Apply the Apex Multiplier to the atmospheric thrusters."

[Warning: Structural Integrity under extreme stress.]
Lucifer didn’t blink. He flooded the reactor with his Archmage-level mana.
The earth shook.
It was a massive, concussive planetary shockwave. The ten thousand glowing blue Cryo-Pylons ringing the floating island flared with blinding, absolute zero light.
Deep beneath the bedrock of the floating mountain, the hidden Precursor thrusters ignited.
The sound was deafening. It sounded like a hundred oceans boiling simultaneously.
The Citadel of Obsidian ripped completely free from the lower atmosphere.
The acceleration was violent and instantaneous. The heavy iron doors of the grand hall blew open from the sheer spatial pressure. The massive, jagged landmass shot straight up into the sky like a fired cannonball.
"Hold on!" Elara shouted, bracing her boots against the obsidian floor. She threw her Twilight wings over Sarah to shield the Oracle from the intense gravitational G-force.
Lyra planted her silver broadsword into the stone, her holy aura flaring to stabilize her balance. Vexia dropped to the ground, her red wings wrapping tightly around her small frame. Isolde stood her ground, her diamond-hard draconic physiology easily absorbing the pressure.
Lucifer didn’t move an inch. He stood in the center of the blinding magical storm, his hand locked onto the reactor node. His Void Arcanist core perfectly neutralized the crushing G-force.
Through the massive arched windows of the grand hall, the world fell away.
The bruised-purple clouds of the fading Eclipse Convergence blurred past them. The dark, snow-covered peaks of the northern mountain range shrank into tiny specks.
The sprawling plains of the human kingdoms became a distant, blurred map of green and brown.
The sky outside the windows rapidly shifted from bright blue to a deep, pristine, starry black.
They were breaking the stratosphere.
The air-pressure wards generated by the Spire of Celestial Convergence engaged fully. A massive, invisible dome of breathable, warm air snapped into place over the entire five-mile radius of the floating island, protecting the thirteen million mortal soldiers outside from the lethal vacuum of high altitude.
The violent shaking suddenly stopped.
The deafening roar of the thrusters smoothed out into a deep, steady, barely noticeable hum that vibrated pleasantly through the floorboards.
The Ascension Ritual was complete.
[System: Global Announcement.]
[A New Sovereignty has been established.]
[Location: Zephyria, The Floating City.]
[Altitude: 50,000 Feet (Atmospheric Apex).]
Lucifer released the Void-Core node. The sphere of blue and purple energy shrank, sinking seamlessly into the black stone of the dais, permanently embedding the engine controls into the throne room.
The blinding starlight faded.
Lucifer lowered his hand. The black lightning on his gauntlet dissolved.
He turned around.
He walked up the three short steps of the dais. He turned to face the massive, empty grand hall.
Lucifer sat down.
The heavy throne of dark matter and iron groaned slightly under the weight of his Warlord armor. The Heart of Ruin on his hip pulsed with a slow, dominant rhythm.
He looked at his commanders.
Elara, the Valkyrie. Lyra, the Dawn Saintess. Sarah, the Star-Touched Oracle. Isolde, the Winter Sovereign. Vexia, the Sanguine Princess.
The five most powerful, terrifying entities on the mortal plane. They were not bound to him by generic system loyalty points.
They had bled with him. They had fought gods and shattered dimensions with him.
They stood up.
They did not speak. They walked forward in perfect unison.
Elara and Lyra took their places on his right. Sarah and Isolde took his left. Vexia stood slightly forward, guarding the steps of the dais.
They flanked the dark throne, their respective auras of twilight, holy light, starlight, frost, and blood blending into an impossible, breathtaking display of absolute power.
Outside the massive arched windows, the stars burned brightly against the black sky. The curve of the planet was clearly visible below them, a massive globe of oceans and continents lying completely exposed.
Zephyria glided silently through the heavens. It was a perfectly self-sustaining, heavily armed, unbreachable kingdom in the clouds.
Lucifer rested his iron gauntlets on the armrests of his throne.
He looked down at the world he had left behind. The human kings were currently screaming in their burning capitals. The Lich Lords were dead. The Umbra was stripped bare.
The Warlord’s eyes narrowed. A cold, predatory smirk touched his lips.
"The board is set," Lucifer stated smoothly, his voice echoing in the absolute silence of the highest room in the world. "Let them look up. Let them see the shadow."
