Chapter 123: This Director Contains Hundreds of Kinds of Evil Spirits
In the next instant, the monster became a straight black line, shooting toward Chu He like an arrow.
Chu He gathered True Qi in his palm, then threw a sudden punch through the air in the monster’s direction.
The powerful blast of True Qi struck the monster’s head like a giant sledgehammer, hitting with the force of a thunderbolt and snapping its neck.
The immense force of the impact sent the monster flying back dozens of meters.
The explosive shockwave scattered in all directions, howling like a miniature hurricane within the Rainbow Welfare Institute.
"What incredible power!"
Dean and Anna looked at each other, their eyes wide with shock. "Could he be an expert from the Emperor Realm? No wonder Galava brought Chu He along. He hired a powerful expert for protection."
Soon, the humanoid Evil Spirit wobbled back to its feet.
Its neck and head were grotesquely twisted and broken, dangling against its side.
The humanoid Evil Spirit was naked, its skin like that of a hairless cat.
Its flesh was wrinkled and grayish-brown.
The humanoid Evil Spirit stood there for a moment before a series of CRACKS and CRUNCHES echoed from within its body as bones reset.
Then, its broken neck snapped straight, and it fixed its gaze on Chu He once more.
"Mr. Chu, I have information about this Evil Spirit in my mind.
The director of the Rainbow Welfare Institute named this humanoid Evil Spirit the Shy One.
Because this Evil Spirit has a rule: any living creature that sees the Shy One’s face will trigger its kill condition."
Galava’s muscles twitched uncontrollably as he spoke, forcing the words out.
The Evil Spirit from the diary had merged with Galava’s body.
Although it had flooded his mind with a torrent of explosive information about Evil Spirits, it also placed an immense strain on his body.
The Evil Spirit from the diary itself carried an extremely high-level Mysterious Power,
and that, combined with an overwhelming amount of information, pushed Galava’s body to its breaking point.
He constantly felt a tearing sensation, as if his body was about to burst apart.
Fortunately, the feeling was still within the realm of endurance; he wasn’t in danger of actually exploding.
When Galava looked through the window at the humanoid Evil Spirit outside, information about it surfaced in his mind involuntarily.
"That’s impossible!
Rule Level Evil Spirits are always inanimate objects! Like I just said—a diary, a table, a chair... How could it possibly be a humanoid Evil Spirit?
Are you sure the information in your head isn’t scrambled?"
Anna immediately retorted.
Dean nodded in agreement. "Yes, Anna’s right. You need to get your thoughts straight, or you could lead us all to a point of no return."
"The information in my head is absolutely correct," Galava insisted. "Even though it was forced into my brain by a Mysterious Power, it feels as familiar as if I’ve known it my whole life."
"Then does your information say why a Rule Level Evil Spirit would take this form?
Does this mean humanity’s current understanding of Rule Level Evil Spirits is completely wrong?" Anna asked.
"The director of this place was an absolute, depraved lunatic!
Under the guise of running a welfare institute, he captured countless people of all ages, genders, and races.
Then, he continuously transplanted Evil Spirits into the bodies of ordinary people to observe their reactions and collect experimental data.
In the process, the Rainbow Welfare Institute became a merciless meat grinder!
The director even fused different Evil Spirits together, creating many new types of abominations.
The Shy One was one of his creations.
The Shy One became one of the director’s more ’satisfactory’ works.
The Shy One is a fusion of an ordinary human, a conventional High-level Evil Spirit, and a Rule Level Evil Spirit.
The fusion of these three gave birth to a brand-new ability... continuous self-rebooting,"
Galava said, sorting through the information flooding his mind.
"What does ’self-reboot’ mean?" Dean asked curiously.
"It means that no matter how severely it’s injured, or even if it’s killed,
the Shy One will reboot its body and restore it to its original condition.
In other words, this Evil Spirit simply cannot be killed."
As Galava spoke, his voice was no longer as weak and listless as it had been moments ago.
"How is that possible?
If it can really keep rebooting its body, doesn’t that make it invincible on Blue Star?"
Anna asked in disbelief.
"But that’s the truth. Just like a moment ago,
Mr. Chu completely mangled and broke the humanoid Evil Spirit’s neck and head,
but you saw it yourself—it returned to its original state in just a few moments.
That proves the information in my head is correct.
My advice is, we should retreat immediately!
What’s more, the entire Rainbow Welfare Institute building is an Evil Spirit itself, and there are far too many others here.
Most of them are still dormant within the institute.
Once they awaken, the consequences will be unimaginable!"
Galava said urgently.
"Is the Evil Spirit from the diary the director of the Rainbow Welfare Institute?"
Though Chu He’s eyes remained fixed on the Shy One below, he was listening intently to Galava.
"Yes," Galava replied.
"So what’s the name of the Rainbow Welfare Institute’s director?" Dean asked.
"He doesn’t have a name. His designation is just ’the Director.’
I don’t even know their gender.
But the Director is absolutely terrifying.
Originally, they were a perfectly ordinary human, a graduate from a world-class medical school who was hailed as a genius physician.
Later, during their endless experiments, their body began to be corrupted by Evil Spirits, which led them to discover that Spirits could contaminate human beings.
So, the Director called the invasion of humans by Evil Spirits a ’plague.’
The Director has hundreds of different Evil Spirits fused within their body!
This is a rare case of a living person transforming into a Cursed-type Evil Spirit!
Even though this information is in my own mind, I can barely believe it as I say it out loud!
What’s more, the Director did this to themself intentionally.
They changed their mind in the later stages of their research and came up with a new idea.
Humans are so frail in the face of Evil Spirits. So why not become an Evil Spirit, while still retaining a human mind?
To validate the experimental data, the Director used themself as the test subject."
As Galava spoke of this, the terror in his voice was unmistakable.
"So it seems the Director’s experiment failed," Anna guessed. "Otherwise, they’d be standing right here in front of us."
"Not necessarily."
Chu He spoke up. "Where did you get your information about the Rainbow Welfare Institute?
Or let me rephrase: all those people rushing here from across the Black Continent Grassland—where did *they* get their information?"
