National Guardian's Gone and We're Done

Chapter 107: Even This Barbaric Land Cannot Block the Sunshine

The Great Jing Empire.

For the past few days, Ji Shengyue had been caught in a state of turmoil and indecision.

Joliton’s deadline was fast approaching.

Joliton hadn’t appeared in days, leaving Ji Shengyue to wonder whether he was confident she would yield or if he had simply forgotten the matter entirely.

Just then, her secretary’s voice came from outside the office. "Her Majesty the Queen, Zong Yajuan requests an audience."

Ji Shengyue sighed. "Let her in."

The door swung open, and Zong Yajuan strode in, a hint of excitement on her face.

"What is it?" Ji Shengyue found Zong Yajuan’s elation a bit odd.

’Doesn’t Zong Yajuan know what a terrible mood I’ve been in lately?’

"Her Majesty the Queen, I have good news to report.

A member of our Time Girl Group, Min Kexin, just broke through to the Emperor Realm half an hour ago after a period of seclusion.

Furthermore, she has devoured three Evil Spirits—and they were not weak ones.

Although Min Kexin has only just stepped into the Emperor Realm, with her current strength, an ordinary Emperor Realm expert would be no match for her."

A smile spread across Zong Yajuan’s lips. Toward Ji Shengyue, who had discovered and nurtured her, she was absolutely loyal.

She knew just how important it was for one of Her Majesty’s subordinates to become an Emperor Realm expert at this critical juncture. This could change everything.

As expected, upon hearing this news,

Ji Shengyue shot to her feet and asked in delighted surprise, "Has this been fully confirmed?"

"Yes, Her Majesty the Queen. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have waited half an hour to bring the news to you."

Zong Yajuan replied with certainty, "Min Kexin is waiting outside right now.

If Her Majesty wishes to see her, I can have her come in immediately.

This matter is still confidential. I was worried that if the news leaked, the Lighthouse Empire and the New World Organization might take actions detrimental to us."

"Right, right. You’ve been very thorough."

Her mood vastly improved, Ji Shengyue praised Zong Yajuan before saying impatiently, "Have Min Kexin come in at once."

Zong Yajuan nodded, took out her phone, and sent a text message.

Soon, the temperature in the room plummeted. A figure then appeared without any warning.

This was a display of the power of the Emperor Realm—the ability to ignore any barrier within a certain area,

and traverse freely at a speed imperceptible to the human eye.

Recently, in order to quickly cultivate an Emperor Realm expert for the Great Jing Empire,

Ji Shengyue had secretly tasked Zong Yajuan with acquiring methods and techniques from the black market for rapidly increasing one’s realm by fusing with Evil Spirits.

She had also purchased numerous high-level Evil Spirits at exorbitant prices.

Her efforts had not been in vain; Ji Shengyue’s plan had finally produced its first success.

"Is your strength truly at the Emperor Realm now?"

Ji Shengyue asked again, suppressing her excitement.

"That’s right."

Min Kexin affirmed with a nod.

Back when she was still a normal human Martial Artist, Min Kexin had a rosy complexion and radiated youthful vigor.

But now, in her desperate bid to rapidly ascend to the Emperor Realm, she had risked her life by devouring three Evil Spirits in quick succession.

Her own power as a King’s Realm Martial Artist formed a fortunate four-way balance.

Under the harmonizing effect of this balance, Min Kexin’s strength was pushed to the Emperor Realm in one fell swoop!

The price, however, was that the aura Min Kexin exuded had become much colder. Standing there, she was like a corpse.

Her face was deathly pale, and her eyes had lost much of their human emotion.

In its place was a cold indifference, strikingly similar to that of an Evil Spirit.

"Excellent! This is truly excellent!

The Great Jing Empire finally has its first Emperor Realm expert!

From this day forward, you are the Great Jing Empire’s third National Guardian War God.

I will bestow upon you the most generous rewards and allow you to enjoy a life of splendor and riches.

And you, Zong Yajuan, you’ve done an outstanding job with this matter!"

With this good news, Ji Shengyue quickly regained the majestic confidence befitting Her Majesty the Queen of the Great Jing Empire.

She settled back into her seat, beginning to exercise her skill at balancing the scales.

"Henceforth, you and Min Kexin will jointly manage the entirety of the Great Jing Empire’s Martial Artist forces.

While we may not be able to contend with the Lighthouse Empire for now, we at least have a seat at the table.

That apology statement that has been troubling me for days... I suppose it won’t be necessary now."

Ji Shengyue laughed heartily.

"Her Majesty the Queen, I’ve received word that the Lighthouse Empire’s Martial Artist Base clashed violently with the New World Organization, resulting in significant casualties.

Joliton has already reported the situation here back to the Lighthouse Empire.

A private jet from the Lighthouse Empire has likely already arrived at our Royal City Airport.

The jet didn’t fly directly to Fujiang City’s airport. It’s highly probable they are coming to see you, Your Majesty.

I’m worried they might send an expert to cause trouble directly."

Zong Yajuan said, concerned.

"I am aware of this as well. If they want to come, then let them.

Min Kexin, you will need to put on a good show later. Display the might of our Great Jing Empire."

Ji Shengyue said coldly.

...

At the bustling Royal City Airport in the Great Jing Empire,

a private jet cut across the azure sky and landed smoothly on the runway.

The cabin door opened slowly, releasing a mixed scent of jet fuel and foreign leather.

A few passengers dressed in foreign attire then stepped out of the cabin.

Leading them was a young, fair-skinned man with flowing silver hair.

His features were like those of a beautiful youth from a medieval oil painting, so exquisite it was hard to look away.

His pupils were as red as precious gems, glittering with a deep and mysterious light.

He wore a black tailcoat with delicate red embroidery. At his left shoulder, where a short cape was attached,

a bat insignia gleamed brightly. A silver trim wound artfully beneath his collar, adding to his noble and mysterious air.

"Oh, my heavens! Isn’t that Count Jerry? He actually came in person!"

Among the crowd waiting in the airport terminal, a portly, smiling middle-aged man cried out in surprise.

His eyes nearly bulged from their sockets, his face a mask of astonishment and awe.

This middle-aged man was none other than Joliton, the head of the Great Jing Empire’s Martial Artist Base.

Joliton hurriedly straightened his suit and rushed forward, his face plastered with a sycophantic smile. "My Lord Count, welcome! It must have been a long journey."

He bowed obsequiously, his voice filled with reverence and a desire to please.

Count Jerry gave a slight nod, his every move exuding the grace and nobility of a thousand-year aristocratic lineage.

He gently adjusted the black formal hat on his head, hiding his handsome face in its shadow, unwilling to let the sunlight of this barbaric land tarnish his noble skin.

A flash of disgust and malice crossed his eyes. His voice was deep and cold. "This place is truly detestable. Even a barbaric land like this can’t block out the sun."

Joliton immediately understood and quickly took a black umbrella from one of his subordinates, opening it over Count Jerry’s head.

The umbrella was like a patch of night, shielding Count Jerry from the glaring sunlight.

He followed fawningly by Count Jerry’s side, carefully leading the way.

Count Jerry nodded in satisfaction, the corner of his mouth curling into a slight smile.

He strode forward with elegant steps, his black tailcoat fluttering gently in the breeze.

His figure stood out in the crowd, like a noble prince from another world descending upon the mortal realm.
