Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 1078 - 795: Heading to the Ministry of Magic (Part 3)

Soon, the elevator stopped.

"Third floor, Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes, including the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad, Memory Erasure Command Center, and Muggle-Worthy Excuse Committee."

Listening to the voice in the elevator, Hermione suddenly thought of something.

"Are you taking me to the Muggle-Worthy Excuse Committee?"

"That’s right," Kael stepped out of the elevator, "You always thought they were useless, didn’t you? The most direct way is to experience it yourself."

Kael walked out of the elevator. Hermione quickly followed.

This floor looked even busier than the sixth floor, with everyone hurrying around, and the corridors piled high with various documents and miscellaneous items.

Kael led her all the way inside, through a heavy oak door, into a chaotic and noisy open area divided into many small cubicles.

They walked to the door of the cubicle on the far left, where a crooked sign hung: Muggle-Worthy Excuse Committee.

At this moment, a middle-aged wizard ran out from inside.

"Wait a moment, Pelode," Kael called to him.

"Sorry, Kael, I have no time now," the wizard turned his head and said, "Madam Akaba has gotten into an argument with her neighbor about the garden again. I must hurry over before she uses magic; her Forgetfulness Spell is simply terrible."

"No rush, I brought you a helper."

"A helper?"

Kael gently nudged Hermione.

Only then did Hermione react, "I’m Hermione, Hermione Granger."

Pelode gave a strange look, "Are you sure this girl wants to work here?"

Then he looked at Hermione again, "I must tell you in advance, the salary here is not high."

"Not a job, it’s volunteer work, and no salary is required," Kael said, "She wants to experience life for a month before school starts, so I brought her here."

"Are you sure?" Pelode asked again, sounding even more peculiar.

"I’m very sure!" Hermione said.

"Alright, come with me then."

Perhaps because of Kael’s influence, or perhaps they were just too busy, Pelode said nothing more; he didn’t even check Hermione’s identity and agreed directly, leading her towards the elevator.

Hermione glanced back at Kael.

"Go ahead," Kael waved, "It would be best to resolve it at once; the old lady and her neighbor have had several conflicts already. I believe in you."

Hermione, just like that, found herself on duty without even entering the office.

When the elevator doors closed again, Kael leaned in to glance into the office.

Inside, there was an even older wizard, sorting through the pile of parchments on the table.

He looked up at Kael. "I heard everything. You found us a new employee?"

"Just a volunteer, she’ll be leaving once Hogwarts starts," Kael entered, barely finding a place to stand in the cramped office.

"Besides, her ambition is not here, it’s on the second floor."

"Law Enforcement Department?"

"Mm-hmm."

"No problem, as long as she can help."

The old wizard continued sorting the parchments, muttering under his breath, "Those Death Eaters are really troublesome, and those fools setting traps in the Muggle community, there’s even someone who made a swamp. Do they think their neighbors won’t notice anything?"

"Can’t be helped, everyone is scared out of their wits."

"But it has literally doubled our workload," the old wizard angrily said, "By the way, how capable is that student you brought?"

"Top of her class."

The old wizard lifted his head to look at Kael. "Seems like she truly has a chance to go to the second floor."

"Alright," he stood up, extracting a bag and tossing it to Kael.

"What’s this?"

"Compensation for your help," the old wizard said, "The salary here isn’t high to begin with, and for volunteering, it’s even less, only twenty Galleons a month, but it’s better than nothing."

"There’s compensation?" Kael was taken aback.

"There wasn’t before, but yesterday Hogwarts donated a large batch of herbs to St Mungo’s, saving the Ministry of Magic quite a bit of money.

"Bones wants to expand the Ministry of Magic to handle more Death Eaters, plus there are so many tasks to be done; we can’t do without money."

"I see," Kael frowned, "Isn’t she worried about the Death Eaters infiltrating?"

"That’s why it’s a risky move, no one expected her to have such courage," the old wizard said, "By the way, every newcomer must go to register their information, don’t forget to have the girl do that."

"Where to?"

"Auror Office."
