Chapter 1070 - 793: Arrangements and Protection Plan
Fred and George thought it was ridiculous for Kael to have killed seventy Death Eaters; they simply didn’t believe it.
Moreover, strictly speaking, Kael didn’t actually do that. He roughly estimated that the Basilisk took out the most, with around thirty, including the initial ambush and the subsequent indiscriminate attacks.
The main reason was that the Basilisk’s gaze was too overpowering. With the small number of people, almost anyone who saw it would die, catching the Death Eaters completely off guard.
Norbert joined later; although the Fire Dragon’s destructive power was amazing, in terms of efficiency, it was far inferior to the Basilisk, contributing only a small fraction.
When combined, they barely reached half the number.
So when Kingsley mentioned it earlier, Kael could confidently say that he didn’t kill all the Death Eaters.
Because he only dealt with half of them. As for the rest, Kael had no idea what happened.
It could have been Voldemort silencing them, after all, when he mentioned the surname "Riddle" before, it wasn’t exactly in a quiet voice.
And that Muggle father was always a taboo for Voldemort. If he wished to maintain his identity as a Pure-Blooded Slytherin Descendant, he certainly couldn’t let Death Eaters who might have heard that secret go free.
Given Voldemort’s character, he was unlikely to waste time screening them one by one; outright silencing was the simplest way, and it would be foolproof.
Of course, these were Kael’s speculations based on Voldemort’s temperament. What happened after he fled, only Voldemort himself would know.
Meanwhile, at the dining table...
"Molly, Sirius, you’re really mistaken." Kingsley sighed, as if he wanted to explain something, but after thinking about it, he decided not to speak further.
Actually, the reason for his questioning was just a habit as an Auror, and Moody thought the same.
Or rather, anyone else, even if it were Dumbledore, they would still need to ask for clarification.
But now, there was no need, because they also didn’t believe that Kael could kill so many Death Eaters in fifteen minutes.
Fifteen minutes, seventy... on average, nearly five per minute, even if facing wart hogs, it wouldn’t be that fast, would it?
Even hypothetically, if it were seventy wart hogs, once they realized the danger, they would run too, let alone seventy wizards.
In a place like Godric’s Hollow, if one wanted to run wholeheartedly, it wouldn’t be that easy to catch up.
So there was certainly something they didn’t know about that had nothing to do with Kael.
"Sorry." Kingsley looked at Kael and said, "It’s my duty; I hope you understand."
"Of course." Kael said, "I don’t mind."
The two exchanged smiles, and then no one said anything further about this matter; it seemed to have passed.
Seeing the atmosphere becoming somewhat tense, Mr. Weasley took the initiative to change the subject and said, "By the way, has anyone seen Dumbledore? His Phoenix is here, so why is he missing?"
As he spoke, he subconsciously glanced at Fawkes perched on Kael’s shoulder... whether it was from using Apparition too many times or simply exhaustion, Fawkes was sleeping soundly, undisturbed by the conversation.
However, in response to Mr. Weasley’s doubts, the others all shook their heads, indicating they didn’t know either, as if no one had seen him since noon.
So, all eyes turned to Kael again.
There was no choice, as Sirius had just mentioned that Kael could command the Phoenix, and Fawkes sleeping on his shoulder confirmed the truth of this statement.
If there was anyone present who knew Dumbledore’s whereabouts, their first thought would be Kael.
"Don’t look at me, I don’t know either." Kael shrugged, "Dumbledore only said he had something very important to do and asked me to help take care of Fawkes."
The statement was the same as at the Hog’s Head Pub; in fact, it was also agreed upon in advance when they were still at Bathilda’s house.
Dumbledore didn’t want too many people to know he’d used the Time Turner, so he came up with a rather vague reason... something important needed his attention.
After all, he often traveled around, so he wouldn’t be suspected for a while, but if it took too long, it wouldn’t work out.
So, Kael was just trying to get by for the day, hoping Dumbledore would return soon and not take too long.
One had to admit that, at this point, Dumbledore’s name had, in a way, become a symbol; as long as he was around, it gave people an unquestionable confidence in victory.
This confidence was very necessary when facing the Death Eaters.
At this moment, Mrs. Weasley just happened to bring in supper.
It wasn’t very lavish, just some ordinary sandwiches with corned beef and fried ham, but it went well with whiskey.
Of course, only those rescued by Fawkes were drinking, while the others who came from the Ministry of Magic still abstained from alcohol.
Once everyone was more or less sober, the topic at the dining table turned back to the Death Eaters.
"I really didn’t expect their numbers to have grown so much." Mr. Weasley said worriedly.
"Yes." Sirius nodded.
Previously, the number of Death Eaters they encountered wasn’t large, usually just a few at a time, but now the situation was different.
