    Lilith barely breathed as Hades emerged from the shadows of her chamber, his presence wrapping around her like night itself. She should move. She should run. But she didn’t want to. He reached for her, his fingers trailing along her bottom lip—slow, deliberate. She shivered, not from fear, but from him.
    Lilith swallowed, her pulse a traitorous drumbeat. “Please… let me touch you, Hades.”
    A ghost of a smile tugged at his lips, but there was no humor in it. “Dangerous little thing.” His thumb lingered at the corner of her mouth, as if memorizing its shape. He whispered, tilting her chin up as his lips hovered near hers—so close she could feel his breath.
    “You will destroy me, little witch,” he murmured, his voice thick with something raw. “And yet… I can’t let you go.” His gaze burned into hers as he added, “I would let you drag me to hell if that’s what you desired.”
