Raising Ducks for Daily Rewards

Chapter 104: Five Acre Field Again

A vast grassland, over a hundred acres large.

That was what Fengyu saw when he arrived at his field.

The road at his feet was made of bluestone, grass growing neatly to his side.

Clearly this was an area only a select few could enter.

"This will be our field for a long time to come," Fengyu said as he looked at his ducks.

Even Ming and Ling to the side, hoping they would only remain in this field for the next two to three decades, were still full of expectations.

The future... how would it look like?

If it looked anything like this, they could be satisfied for having achieved something great.

"Let’s enter!" Fengyu said, raising his token.

Moments later two formation plates flew out, numbers shining clearly on their surface – 5 and 8.

"Here, this should be your area." Fengyu handed over the plate with the 8.

They refined it superficially quickly, only entering the spiritual power to give it the simple command to open.

When they did so, they were led by the plate to a sideways.

A few minutes later, walking alongside the edge of the field on a much thinner road, they arrived at an extremely small open spot. Or rather, it was two small openings next to each other.

The twin’s plate pointed to the one on the right, Fengyu’s to the one on the left.

"It seems these are our fields then... well, they said that it wouldn’t be in the core, but it still feels a bit weird." Fengyu shook his head with a smile, thinking that he actually had to enter his own field from the side door.

Then again, the core area was the heart of the field and the main entrance was likely connected to it, which is why even if he rented everything around it, he would likely still not be able to use the main entrance.

’Maybe this is the city’s way to make us want to rent it in the future?’ Fengyu could only guess.

He nodded to the twins and entered the formation, looking around.

Instantly, a tide of spiritual power hit him –

It washed over his body instantly, seemingly relieving all the past pain, all the injuries in his body, filling his dantian beyond what it was before!

He took a deep breath, absorbing it rapidly.

Only a moment later did he calm down, his eyes still gleaming with delight.

"This atmosphere, it’s exactly what I need to advance further!" Fengyu nearly shouted in excitement.

The advancement was naturally not his own but that of his ducks.

Lowering his gaze, he saw that all his ducks, Zimu included, were stunned.

He could feel spiritual power rapidly entering their body.

Waiting for several minutes, he finally saw their expression easing and their consciousness returning.

"Quack, Fengyu..." Zimu didn’t know what to say...

"Quack, Fengyu! This, my children and I feel like heaven here, like the heaven you always described!" Mother Duck explained, quacking with her children to Fengyu to describe the sensation.

"Haha, this field is indeed of an extremely high grade! Alright, let’s check the field for its qualities."

Fengyu walked along the five acres with the cart behind him, chatting with the ducks as he did so.

There was no surprise in the field – except for the unnaturally high concentration of spiritual power, everything else was fine.

After putting down the cart for a moment, he used a spell to burn down the whole grassland of an acre.

Then he asked Spring Rain to water it fully.

The process took a bit over an hour, which was a lot less than he expected.

"Spring Rain, it seems I not only underestimated your power but also the strength of this concentration! Well, I didn’t know it would be so great before.

How many ducks do you think could live in this five-acre field?" he directly asked the expert.

"Quack, quack."

"Really? So many? That’s five times as much as the previous field!"

"Quack, quack quack. Quack quack"

"Yeah you’re right, it’s a combination of the field’s power, your power, and also the fast spiritual power recovery here.

But... I don’t think I can take care of so many ducks..." Fengyu looked wryly.

250 ducks could be raised here, but how could he take care of them?

To be honest, at the start when he tried it out, he thought he might sneak a reward from the system when he didn’t take care of the ducks.

But to his misfortune, it was one thing to raise lower-quality ducks and gain less rewards, but if he allowed them to grow wildly, then he wouldn’t get any reward at all!

And lower-quality ducks would only waste his time and resources, the benefit being minimal.

He didn’t think monetary benefit was as important as cultivation or strands.

"Alright, how many more ducks should I gain?

I have to at least double the egg production, but I don’t think doubling it straight up is fast enough."

Fengyu calculated it in his mind and realised that if he doubled it, he would gain 40% cultivation in just ten years.

But... would that be enough?

He was currently at 36% - adding 40% he would be at 76%. Another 5 years might do it.

If only he had the time...

He was now 40 years old. 15 years later he would be 55, with only five years left to reach the next stage. A simple glance revealed he didn’t have the time to waste so much! Not to mention he didn’t know if anything might delay him.

"Quack, how about we make all these 50 ducks into Spiritual Ducks?"

"No, we can’t do this... or, can we? What was the reason we didn’t do this in the past?" Fengyu was confused for a moment and asked Zimu again.

"It was too difficult to care for them and the cost is quite high while the reward is little, we always thought they might fall from their rank if we don’t care for them well enough, and the economic pressure that would arise would be too high..."
