Chapter 95: Income and cultivation
Time passed once more, quite a few things happening.
The ducks all broke through one after another –
The first to reach the late stage was Spring Rain, followed closely by Zimu who seemed to have sprinted. Silver Feather broke through her bloodline and reached the peak grade, breaking through to the late stage right after them. Behind her came Soft Breeze whose bloodline was at the high grade, then Wind Claw who broke through and finally Fire Breath who was the youngest of the children.
Mother Duck also reached the late stage after several years of delay behind them, though she wasn’t worried at all. She didn’t yet give birth to a new duck, but told Fengyu that it could feel there was something growing, it would still take a few years.
It was a bit of a surprise that every duck was able to reach the late stage – he knew his abilities were quite good, but he had guessed they would need at least twenty more years of cultivation to break through their bloodline and reach it.
He could only guess it was because of his Spiritual Inspiration that boosted his abilities in regards to ducks. If it was any other animal, he couldn’t guarantee they would advance so fast and so well!
But after they reached the late stage, he could see a drastic change in their cultivation. It had plummeted, the difference in stages even larger than that of cultivators.
During that time Fengyu also paid back the total of 90,000 spirit stones to the Green Plum Store, which had been quite a good purchase in his opinion.
He even thought of using Mother Duck as the spirit, but didn’t choose to do so in the end.
Her reproduction ability was good but not the best fit for the spirit who would mostly affect ducks that focused on cultivation and not so much on breeding.
After so many years, his income transformed several times.
His income for the first three years after the second Beast Attack was around 20,000 spirit stones, a considerable sum. In the next four years his income rose rapidly –
Every month his 5 early-stage Wild Beast Spiritual Ducks gave him 135 high-quality Spirited Eggs per duck, 50% more per duck than before. This resulted in a total of 675 eggs, which brought him 113 spirit stones and 34 bonus spirit stones.
His high-quality Spirited Ducks previously laid one egg in two days, the number increased by 50% and became two eggs in three days, leading to him getting around 1,012 eggs every month, which earned him 127 spirit stones and 30 extra spirit stones as a bonus.
Now he bred a total of 30 high-quality Spirited Ducks monthly, leading to another income of 300 spirit stones and 15 bonus spirit stones. After he stopped breeding the fire-patterned duck, he no longer sold any other duck.
Though after he got the Duck Reproduction Enhancement Spell he was able to increase the ducks Silver Feather gave birth to to 6 yearly, two more than before, leading him to earn an additional 400 yearly, which he used to pay off the rent, leaving around 9 spirit stones monthly to be paid.
His total income now had become 610 after deducting the rent expense, which was still less than previously.
But since he no longer had to pay for the extra ducks, his expenses were reduced by quite a lot –
The five ducks, Zimu and Fengyu had a total expense of 70 spirit stones currently, which would rise by a lot in the future.
Besides them, there was an additional expense of 30 spirit stones for the 30 high-quality Spirited Ducks.
And... that was it. Only around 100 spirit stones in expenses.
This led his income to be 510 spirit stones – only 10 less than previously every month.
His yearly income was over 6,000 spirit stones.
The 35,000 spirit stones he had saved, 40,000 spirit stones over 6 years and 24,000 spirit stones over 4 years resulted in him having had around 100,000 spirit stones by the end of the loan, 90,000 of which were paid back to the store.
Another four years had passed, leading his savings to once again reach over 30,000 spirit stones...
"My income has led to me being able to save a lot of spirit stones for one sole purpose –
Entering the city!
Now I am about to reach forty years of age and I have finally reached the peak of mid-stage! It’s time to break through!"
Fengyu looked at his cultivation which he hadn’t looked at for some time –
[Cultivation: 6th stage of Qi Refining]
[Cultivation progress: 35.999%, +0.201%!]
"With a yearly cultivation of 2.025%, in just eight years I’ve already advanced so far. It’s been two months since I entered this bottleneck, and today, I think it’s time to break through!"
His fortieth birthday wasn’t far away – wouldn’t breaking through be a great gift to himself?
Fengyu smiled as he sat down, concentrating on his cultivation deeply.
His dantian had once again reached the point of creating a new Qi Bowl.
Two bowls looked at each other in his dantian, one larger and above, the other smaller and below.
It looked slightly weird, yet Fengyu could only say that this was the order in which he constructed the bowls.
Above this bowl, there was only a thin outline of the next bowl created from illusory spiritual power.
"The difficulty in cultivation rises exponentially because at every stage in the Qi Refining stage you can only cultivate 0.99% beyond your own stage’s percentual limit before you have to break through.
A mortal trying to enter cultivation will easily reach 0.99% and find 1% is already the whole first stage and that they’ve already constructed 30% of the whole bowl, which is only 3% large.
An early-stage Qi Refining cultivator will find that 0.99% is less than a sixth of the fourth stage bowl, making breaking through rather difficult.
After all, when you break through, you can only form less than 20% of the next bowl, which is quite unstable. Constructing the whole foundation of the next bowl with only 20% of its size is quite difficult, forcing one to plan deeply, even the edge of the foundation still being quite illusory.
Now I’m at the mid stage trying to break through to the late stage.
The late-stage bowl is 60% large, meaning that 0.99% is less than one sixtieth of the whole bowl.
How do I construct the next bowl with only that much?"
