My Milf Conqueror System

Chapter 295: The Final Board

The atmosphere in the safehouse was heavy with anticipation.

It wasn't the kind of tension that came before a fight. It was the kind that came before an execution. The kind where you already knew the trap was set, and the only question was whether you walked into it with your head up or on your knees.

The steel table was cold under my palms. The monitors were still showing the satellite feed of the Imperial Mountain. Red walls. Red banners. Red guards.

"She's going to try and separate you," Ethan said, pacing the length of the command center. His boots echoed on the concrete. He had his rifle slung but he wasn't touching it. Like he didn't trust himself not to grab it. "She knows she can't break the Golden Koi as long as you're standing behind Li. She's going to use the banquet to isolate the Matriarch and force her into a corner."

He stopped pacing and looked at Li.

"In public," he added. "In front of her captains. In front of every syndicate in Macau. She'll make you choose between kneeling or dying."

"She will demand tribute," Li predicted, her voice steady despite the fear in her eyes. She was sitting at the table, back straight, but her fingers were tapping against the steel. Once. Twice. "She will demand that the Golden Koi surrender a percentage of our new territory. The northern docks. The southern casinos. Or she will demand that I hand over the Jade Palace laundering network to her direct control."

Li looked up at me. "If I give her the Palace, we are finished. If I give her territory, we look weak. Every captain we just absorbed will start looking for a new master."

"If you refuse, she executes us both," I said, leaning against the steel table. "Right there in the banquet hall. She'll call it justice. She'll call it maintaining order. And no one will stop her."

"If you accept, she bleeds the syndicate dry and eventually replaces you with a puppet," I continued. "Some cousin. Some loyal dog from the Mountain. And the Golden Koi becomes just another arm of the Imperials."

"Then we are walking into a trap with no exit," Li said, looking at me. There was no panic in her voice. Just fact.

"There is always an exit," I corrected. "But we can't find it by playing her game. If we walk into that banquet acting like a subordinate syndicate begging for recognition, she owns the board. She owns us. She owns the story."

I turned to the monitors. "Overwatch, I need a full tactical layout of the Imperial Mountain's public reception areas. The banquet halls, the courtyards, the security checkpoints."

"Pulling the satellite imagery and the historical blueprints now," Nia said. I could hear her typing. "But Noah, the internal security is going to be massive. She'll have dozens of Imperial Guards and Shadows in the room. Metal detectors. Signal jammers. No weapons past the first gate. No comms past the courtyard."

"I don't care about the guards," I said. "I care about the leverage."

Because guns wouldn't win this. Guns would get us killed in 10 seconds.

I looked at Li. She was the Matriarch. She had survived the streets, she had survived the proxy war, she had watched me take an Imperial Shadow alive and break him in her basement. And she had surrendered her absolute trust to me. Now, I had to make sure she survived the Empress.

"Tomorrow night, you aren't going to act like a street boss," I told her, my voice dropping to a low, commanding register. "You are going to walk into that compound like a Queen. You are going to wear your wealth, you are going to project absolute authority, and you are not going to bow to Song Mei."

Li swallowed hard, but she nodded. Once. "And what will you do?"

"I'm going to be exactly what she expects me to be," I said, a dark, predatory smile touching my lips. "A lethal, unpredictable ghost. She thinks she can control the board because she holds the high ground. The walls. The guards. The tradition."

I tapped the satellite image of the compound.

"I'm going to show her that the high ground doesn't matter when the foundation is rigged to blow."

I looked at Ethan. "Liam, you're on overwatch tomorrow night. You take the sniper rifle, and you find a perch on the Coloane hills overlooking the compound. 800 meters out. You have line of sight on the East Hall windows."

"If things go sideways, I need you to provide covering fire for our extraction," I said. "Not to start a war. Just to open a door."

"I'll be in position," Ethan promised. His jaw was tight. "1800 hours. I'll have eyes on every entrance."

Nia pulled up the guest list on the screen. "Confirmed captains. 22 of them. Every major family. If Song Mei wanted to, she could wipe half of Macau's underworld in one night."

"She won't," I said. "Not yet. She needs us to legitimize the purge first. She needs the Golden Koi to kneel so the others follow."

Claire cut in over comms. "Van will be two blocks out. I'll run counter-surveillance. If they jam us, you'll know in 3 seconds."

"Good," I said.

The next 20 hours were a blur of prep. Li picked her suit. Black. Tailored. No jewelry except the ring of her father. Power, not ornament.

I didn't sleep. I walked the blueprints of the Imperial Mountain until I could draw them from memory. Two exits from the East Hall. One through the kitchen. One through the main doors. Both guarded.

At 7:00 PM, the armored SUVs arrived.

Li stepped out first. She looked like a different woman. Hair up, black suit, shoulders back. She didn't look like the girl who used to run numbers in the Outer Harbour. She looked like someone who owned the city.

I followed. No weapon. We wouldn't be allowed to keep one.

The drive to the Imperial Mountain took 40 minutes. No one talked.

The gates opened. Dozens of Imperial Guards in red uniforms lined the courtyard. At the top of the steps stood Song Mei.

She was wearing white. Silk. She looked like a bride at a funeral.

Her eyes swept over Li, then landed on me. She smiled.

"Matriarch Bai," the Empress said, her voice carrying across the courtyard. "Head of Security Reed. Welcome to the Imperial Mountain."

Li didn't bow. She gave a single, sharp nod.

"Madam Song," Li replied. Her voice didn't shake. "We are honored by the invitation."

The Empress's smile tightened by a fraction.

"Come," Song Mei said, turning. "The banquet awaits. We have much to discuss about the future of Macau."

We followed her into the East Hall.

Glass walls. Red banners. Long tables filled with the captains of every major syndicate in Macau. And at the head table, one empty seat next to the Empress.

For Li.

The doors closed behind us.

The game of minds was over. The cold war was finished.

Tomorrow night, we were taking the fight directly to the Empress.
