My Milf Conqueror System

Chapter 293: The Deterrent

The trap sprang with violent, overwhelming sensory overload.

Inside the server room, the four Vanguard strobe emitters detonated simultaneously. They didn't flash once. They strobed at 15 hertz. Blinding, disorienting, high-frequency white light that turned the room into a chaotic, strobing nightmare.

Through the camera feed, I watched the room turn white. Every surface, every server rack, every shadow got erased and redrawn 15 times a second.

The Imperial Shadows were wearing highly sensitive quad-lens night vision goggles. The light amplification technology in their lenses instantly overloaded. The auto-gain tried to compensate and failed. It was like staring into the sun while wearing sunglasses that turned it into a supernova.

They ripped the goggles off their faces, stumbling backward, hands flying to their eyes. I could see their mouths open in silent curses. For 3 seconds they were blind. In that world, 3 seconds is death.

A second later, the Halon gas suppression system engaged.

A deafening, high-pressure hiss filled the room as thick, white chemical gas blasted from the ceiling vents. The gas was odorless, cold, and it displaced the oxygen in 8 seconds. It filled the room from the top down, rolling over the server racks like fog. You could see it on the thermal.

"Warning," a loud, automated, synthesized voice blared from the server room's hidden speakers. It was layered, authoritative, and in perfect Singaporean English. "Unauthorized access detected. This facility is protected under the Computer Misuse Act. Federal authorities have been notified. Armed response arriving in sixty seconds. Lethal force authorized. Exit the premises immediately."

The voice repeated. Louder. 60 seconds. 59 seconds.

The Shadows didn't panic. That wasn't their training. But their tactical calculus shifted instantly.

Blinded. Choking on Halon gas. The air was already thin and getting thinner. And a federal strike team was supposedly 60 seconds away.

They had the data they came for. The shielded drives were already in their vests. Mission parameters said: extract and exfil. Staying to investigate the empty office floor was now a suicide mission.

The lead Shadow shouted a sharp command in Cantonese. "撤退!" Retreat.

He ripped the data extraction cable from the last server port, shoving the drive into his tactical vest. He didn't bother to close the rack. He didn't bother to wipe prints. No time.

The four assassins retreated. They stumbled out of the server room, coughing and blinking against the afterimages burned into their eyes, and sprinted back down the corridor toward the open elevator shaft. They kept low. They didn't shoot. Shooting would confirm their presence and give Singapore PD a reason to lock down the building.

I watched them on the camera as they disappeared into the shaft. I heard the faint sound of cables as they rappelled down, moving fast. Faster than they came up.

"They're gone," Claire breathed, the relief palpable over the comms. "They're rappelling down the shaft. They'll be out of the building in two minutes. No pursuit. The building security still thinks it's a false alarm. I looped the lobby cams."

I let out a long, slow breath I didn't realize I was holding. My hands were steady. Vanguard training. But my heart was hammering.

"Did they manage to extract t the data?" I asked. My voice sounded normal.

"They got exactly what we wanted them to get," Nia confirmed. She was already checking the logs. "Terabytes of Julian Croft's fabricated financial history. Shell companies, fake VC deals, crypto wallets with $40M in them. The Empress is going to spend the next month analyzing a ghost. She won't find a single link to Macau or the Golden Koi even if she dig through them a 1000 times. The loop is perfect."

I closed the laptop and stood up. My legs felt heavy. Adrenaline crash.

The Halon gas was contained to the server room by the door seal, but the strobe lights were still flashing wildly through the frosted glass. It looked like a rave from the hallway.

"Shut down the strobes," I ordered. "Vent the Halon. Reset the alarm to silent. Kill the voice."

"Copy," Nia said. The flashing stopped. The hiss died. The voice stopped counting down at 42 seconds.

The office went dark again. Silent again. Like nothing happened. Like no one was ever here.

I walked to the server room door and looked inside. The racks were still humming. Still blinking. A little condensation on the floor from the Halon. Otherwise untouched. No bullet holes. No blood.

It worked.

The Empress had tested the billionaire. She sent her best ghosts to break into his office. And the billionaire had military-grade security, federal response protocols, and nothing to steal except fake data.

She would respect the perimeter now. She would believe that Julian Croft was a legitimate, highly dangerous international player with connections and lawyers and a SWAT team on speed dial.

The digital firewall was secure.

I checked my watch. 3:22 AM.

"Overwatch, wipe the local camera footage from the last 20 minutes," I said. "Leave the building's exterior cams alone. Let them show four guys leaving via the roof. Let Singapore PD find that if they investigate. Makes it real."

"Done," Claire said. "Footage is overwritten with a loop of empty hallway. Timestamp matches."

"Good," I said. I started packing up the laptop and the canvas bag. "I'm leaving in 10. I need to be at Changi before sunrise. First flight out."

Nia was quiet for a second. "Noah... it worked. She thinks she robbed you."

"She thinks she got away with it," I corrected. "That's better. If she thinks she won, she stops looking. She goes back to Macau and licks her wounds."

I took one last look at the office. The ghost office. 5000 square feet of nothing that just saved the Golden Koi. The lights of Singapore reflected off the glass.

The cold war had reached its peak. The Empress had tested us, and we bit back without ever throwing a punch.

Now, it was time to return to Macau and finish the game.
