My Milf Conqueror System

Chapter 291: The Ghost Office

[Jake's POV]

The Marina Bay Financial Centre was a towering monument to global wealth, a sleek spire of glass and steel overlooking the Singapore Strait.

I walked into the lobby at 2:00 PM, wearing a sharp, light-gray suit. The kind of suit that says "I don't carry cash, I own the bank." I bypassed the main reception desk, using the encrypted keycard Nia had generated to access the private executive elevators. The security guards didn't even look twice. Julian Croft had a reputation for not talking to staff.

The forty-second floor belonged entirely to Julian Croft's holding company.

I stepped out of the elevator into a sprawling, five-thousand-square-foot office space. It was beautiful, featuring panoramic views of the bay, polished hardwood floors, and frosted glass partitions. The afternoon sun cut across the floor in sharp lines. It should have been full of people.

And it was completely empty.

There were no desks, no receptionists, no ringing phones. It was a ghost ship. My footsteps echoed down the central corridor. The silence felt wrong for a company supposedly worth $200M.

"I'm inside," I murmured into my comm.

"The Vanguard logistics team finished the installation an hour ago," Claire reported over the comms. "They left through the service elevator. The hardware is in the primary server room at the north end of the floor. They signed an NDA and wiped their phones. No trace."

I found the server room behind a heavy, reinforced steel door. Biometric lock, keycard reader, and a magnetic seal. I swiped my keycard and stepped inside.

The logistics team had delivered exactly what I asked for. Three massive, commercial-grade server racks dominated the center of the room. They were humming loudly, the cooling fans pushing cold air into the confined space. Hundreds of green and blue LED lights blinked in rapid, chaotic sequences across the front panels. Thick bundles of ethernet cables snaked out of the racks and disappeared into the raised floorboards. The temperature was set to 16 degrees. It felt like a real data center.

It looked like a multi-million-dollar financial processing hub.

I walked a slow circle around them. Checked the bolts. Checked the power. Battery packs were hot. Good.

"It's a beautiful illusion," I said, walking around the racks. "Are they actually processing anything?"

"They're processing a continuous loop of fabricated algorithmic trading data," Nia explained. "High-frequency trades, crypto arbitrage, VC fund transfers. All fake, all internally consistent. If the Shadows slice the physical ports, they'll download terabytes of highly complex, perfectly legitimate investment portfolios. It will take the Empress's analysts a month to sift through it all, and they won't find a single connection to the Golden Koi. We buried the shells 6 layers deep."

I nodded. "What about the physical security?" I asked, pulling off my suit jacket and rolling up my sleeves. Underneath was a black base layer.

"I've integrated the server room's environmental controls with the building's primary security grid," Nia said. "Motion sensors, door contact, camera feeds. But Noah, if four Imperial Shadows breach that room, blinking lights won't stop them from realizing the rest of the floor is empty. The second they step out, they'll know."

"They aren't going to see the rest of the floor," I said, opening the heavy canvas bag I had brought from Macau.

Inside were four small, specialized devices. They looked like standard smoke detectors, but they were Vanguard-issue localized flash-strobe emitters. 2 million candela. Used to disorient HVTs without killing them.

"I'm rigging the server room," I explained, attaching the emitters to the ceiling grid above the racks with magnetic mounts. One in each corner. "When the Shadows breach the door, they'll trigger a silent alarm. They'll have exactly ninety seconds to slice the servers and download the data before the trap springs."

"What's the trap?" Claire asked.

"A Halon gas suppression system," I said, pointing to the yellow industrial tanks bolted to the wall. Standard in every high-end server room in Singapore. "It's for electrical fires. Displaces oxygen in 8 seconds. Doesn't damage hardware."

"If you dump Halon into a sealed room, they'll suffocate," Nia warned.

"I'm not going to seal the room," I corrected. I ran a cable from the emitters to a small control box. "I'm going to use it as a deterrent. When the Halon dumps, the strobe emitters will trigger, blinding their NVGs. The light amplification will fry them. Then an automated voice will announce that the Singaporean federal police are sixty seconds away. Armed response. Lethal force authorized."

I programmed the voice. Used a sample of Singapore Police dispatch. Added reverb to make it sound like it was coming from building speakers.

"They'll have the data they came for," I continued, "and they'll have a very compelling reason to leave immediately. Imperial Shadows don't do stand-up fights. They do ghosts. The second it stops being a ghost mission, they abort."

I tested the strobes once. The room flashed white. My eyes watered. Perfect.

I stepped back and looked at the setup. Three racks, blinking. Cold air. Cables. A sealed door. From the inside it looked like the nerve center of Julian Croft's empire. From the outside the rest of the floor was still empty.

That was the point.

"Run a thermal check," I said. "Make sure the shells read hot."

"42 degrees and climbing," Claire said. "To any drone or FLIR it looks active."

"Good," I said. I walked to the glass wall and looked out over the Singapore Strait. Container ships moving in the dark. The city was starting to light up.

I had 10 hours.

I thought about Li back in Macau. About the Shadow in the basement. About the Empress thinking she'd found my weak spot.

She thought a billionaire would have soft security. She thought an office meant employees, routines, vulnerabilities.

She was half right.

I went to the corner office, sat on the floor, and closed my eyes. Vanguard sleep. 20 minutes. Enough to reset.

When I woke up it was 11 PM. The office was dark. Only the server room glowed down the hall like a heartbeat.

"Any movement?" I asked.

"Nothing," Nia said. "Building is quiet. Guard does rounds at 1 and 3."

"Perfect," I said.

At 1:30 AM I changed. Suit off. Tactical base layer on. No weapons. I couldn't get caught with them in Singapore. But I had the laptop. I had the trigger.

I sat in the dark and watched the camera feeds.

This wasn't about fighting. This was about theater. About selling a lie so hard that the Empress believed it.

If they walked in, saw the servers, got the data, and ran... Julian Croft became real.

If they walked out and saw the empty floor... we were dead.

I checked the emitters one last time. Checked the Halon pressure gauge. Checked the audio file.

Everything was ready.

I leaned back in the dark.

"I'm not going to fight them," I said softly. "I'm going to let them rob me, and then I'm going to scare them out of the country."
