Chapter 367: Four Little Miracle— THE FINAL 1
Life began to move quickly after the wedding. Three days later, Matteo’s mother prepared to return abroad. To everyone’s relief, Maxwell decided to go back with her, not because his relationship was forbidden anymore, but because he wanted to be there for his mother and help take care of her and her business overseas. He was still free to return to Central City whenever he wished.
Before leaving, Maxwell met with James. They sat together and talked about how they would manage their relationship while they were apart. Maxwell promised to fly back and visit James regularly, and he also invited James to come and stay with him abroad whenever he wanted. For now, they agreed to visit each other, while James took his time deciding whether he would eventually move abroad with Maxwell or remain in Central City.
After saying their goodbyes, Matteo’s mother and Maxwell flew back abroad.
With the family’s departures settled, it was just Matteo and Adrian, with two full days remaining before their long-awaited honeymoon. They spent the afternoon shopping for a few final travel essentials, though they didn’t need much, and returned home after picking up the few things they wanted.
That evening, while sharing a glass of wine, Matteo brought up their travel plans.
"The trip doesn’t have to be rushed, babe. Since we’ll be starting the surrogacy process in two months, why don’t we spend these two months traveling, exploring new places, and enjoying each other’s company? We can come back when it’s time to begin the process."
Adrian paused and looked at him. "What about our businesses? What about everything we need to manage?"
Matteo smiled and reached across the table, taking his hand. "I want to spend this time with my man. Once we come back, things will get busy again, and we’ll have so much to take care of. I just want these two months to be about us."
Adrian looked at him for a moment, thinking about it. Matteo was right. Once they returned, they would have work to focus on, and their days would become busy again.
"Okay," Adrian agreed. "Let’s spend the two months together."
Matteo smiled and kissed the back of Adrian’s hand. "Thank you, baby."
When the day of their departure finally arrived, Matteo’s men drove them to a private hangar instead of the main commercial terminal. Adrian looked out the window in surprise when he realized where they were going.
Adrian stepped out of the car and looked at the sleek private jet waiting on the tarmac. He turned to Matteo, raising an eyebrow.
"Babe, why did you rent a private jet for our trip? We could have just gotten VIP tickets."
Matteo chuckled and pulled him closer by the waist. "I didn’t rent it."
Adrian frowned. "Then what?"
"It’s ours."
Adrian stared at him for a moment before his eyes widened. "Ours?"
Matteo nodded, a small smile playing on his lips.
"Since when did you have a private jet?"
Matteo laughed softly. "I never really needed one before. I didn’t fly much unless it was for business. But now that I’m building a family, I thought we could use one for our trips. You’re my husband. You deserve privacy and comfort."
Adrian stared at him, a half-disbelieving, half-amused smile spreading across his face.
"So you just woke up and bought a jet I didn’t even know about? Seriously, babe? Can you just tell me how fucking rich you are? You casually bought a private jet and paid a twenty-million-dollar groom price." He narrowed his eyes playfully. "Are you still into drugs or something? How are you this rich?"
Matteo burst out laughing and kissed Adrian’s temple. "I’ve told you several times, I’m not into dirty games anymore. The money I made from that life is still in my accounts, but everything I earn now is clean, baby. I’ve built my fortune through my businesses and investments. I have more than enough to spoil my husband."
Adrian smiled. "I like getting spoiled anyway. And I trust you... but don’t ever let me catch you near anything dirty again, because I might not be so understanding."
Matteo raised an eyebrow. "What will you do?"
Adrian looked at him seriously. "I’ll break your balls."
Matteo threw his head back and laughed. "Let’s go inside. You won’t want to do that, baby. I know you love my dick too much to dare break my balls."
Adrian opened his mouth. "Alright, but—"
Matteo didn’t let him finish. He cupped Adrian’s face gently. "I’m clean now, baby. I don’t take drugs, and I will never go near that life again. Okay?"
Adrian nodded. "Okay, love."
They went inside, where the flight attendants welcomed them and helped with their luggage. Only four of Matteo’s men were accompanying them on the trip.
Once they settled into the ultra-luxurious cabin, the engines hummed to life with a quiet, powerful purr. Moments later, the sleek jet lifted smoothly off the tarmac and soared into the open sky.
Matteo pulled Adrian onto his lap and wrapped his arms around him. The cabin was quiet and comfortable as they looked out at the clouds and talked about their future, the countries they wanted to visit, the places they wanted to see, and everything they hoped to experience together.
"Two months of just us," Adrian whispered, tracing the line of Matteo’s jaw as he rested his head against his chest. "And then, when we come back, we start our family."
"Yes, my love," Matteo murmured, kissing his lips. "We’ll come back and start the process."
Adrian smiled and snuggled closer to him as the jet carried them toward their first destination, ready to begin their life together as husbands.
TWO MONTHS LATER...
Those two months passed faster than either of them could have ever anticipated.
Their honeymoon was everything Adrian had dreamed of and more. They drifted from one breathtaking destination to the next, waking up to slow, quiet mornings, walking hand in hand down sun-drenched streets, sharing candlelit dinners, and losing themselves in nights where the rest of the world ceased to exist.
They visited Lake Como, where Adrian spent hours gazing out at the shimmering water from the terrace of their private villa. They explored the whitewashed cliffs of Santorini, standing together to watch the sun melt into the Aegean Sea, and spent an entire afternoon wandering through hidden alleys with no schedule to chase. They capped it off along the French Riviera, where Matteo surprised him with a private midnight dinner overlooking the rolling waves.
Everywhere they went, they captured moments on film, tasted new foods, laughed over silly, insignificant things, and forged memories designed to last a lifetime.
For two glorious months, it was just the two of them, deeply and unconditionally immersed in their new reality as husbands.
When they finally touched down in Central City, reality began to settle back around them—not with pressure, but with purpose. They had promised each other that the moment they returned, they would take the next step toward the future they so desperately desired.
Their family.
A few days after their return, they sat across from the lead fertility specialist who would oversee their surrogacy journey. Everything had been meticulously arranged in advance: medical clearances were signed, genetic pairings secured, and surrogate mothers carefully matched.
The doctor walked them through the process with calm, reassuring precision.
"The embryos have been created using the genetic material you both provided," the specialist explained, gesturing to the files on his desk. "Once the final preparations are complete, the embryos will be transferred to our surrogate mothers. Following that, we will monitor both pregnancies very closely."
Matteo listened intently, his thumb tracing soothing circles over the back of Adrian’s hand. "And when will we know if it was successful?" he asked, his voice steady.
The doctor smiled warmly. "We’ll perform an early scan once the pregnancies are established. That will allow us to confirm the implantations and see how many developing sacs we have. Around the middle of the term, our detailed ultrasounds will give us a much clearer look at their growth and genders."
Matteo nodded, absorbing every detail. "So we’ll know if there are multiple growths before we know their sexes?"
"Yes," the doctor confirmed. "Early scans usually reveal multiple pregnancies right away."
After walking through the timeline, the doctor introduced them to the two wonderful women who had volunteered to carry their children. Matteo and Adrian spent a quiet, heartfelt moment speaking with them, expressing deep, sincere gratitude for helping them build their home. The women smiled, reassuring them both that they were honored to be part of such a profound journey.
With the medical team taking over the clinical steps, all Matteo and Adrian could do was wait, trust the process, and lean on each other.
The transfers were completed, and the waiting began.
They attended every single appointment side by side, holding their breaths for updates, celebrating every milestone, and watching with awe as the weeks ticked by, bringing the reality of fatherhood closer and closer.
Then, several months later, a summons for a critical scan brought them back to the clinic.
Adrian sat stiffly beside Matteo on the examination table, his fingers locked tightly around Matteo’s hand. A bright, nervous smile flickered across his lips.
"I’m so nervous," Adrian whispered.
Matteo squeezed his hand reassuringly, his eyes fierce with support. "Whatever the results are, we’ll face it together, babe."
The door opened, and the doctor stepped inside, a wide, genuine smile lighting up his face. "I bring wonderful news."
Adrian sat up straighter, leaning forward. "What is it?"
The doctor glanced down at the fresh monitor readings before looking straight at them. "The first surrogate is pregnant with twins."
For a full second, Adrian simply stared at him, his brain trying to catch up. "Twins?"
The doctor nodded, his smile widening. "Yes, exactly."
Tears instantly welled up in Adrian’s eyes. He turned to look at Matteo, his voice trembling. "Twins..."
Matteo smiled, pressing a soft kiss to his knuckles. "You finally got your wish, love."
Adrian let out a watery, disbelieving laugh. "I always wanted twins. I told you I wanted twins just like you."
Matteo leaned over, pressing his lips gently to Adrian’s forehead. "And now you’re getting them."
The doctor chuckled softly, holding up a hand. "I wouldn’t celebrate just yet, we aren’t finished. Let’s look at the second set of results."
Adrian blinked, his breath catching.
"The second surrogate is carrying twins as well."
Adrian’s jaw dropped open.
Matteo froze, staring at the doctor in stunned silence before turning his gaze back to Adrian. "Four babies?"
"Four babies," the doctor confirmed with a bright nod.
Adrian covered his mouth with both hands, a choked laugh escaping him as hot tears spilled over his lashes. "I can’t believe this. I honestly can’t believe it."
Matteo pulled him instantly into his arms, burying his face in Adrian’s hair as he held him tight against his chest, overwhelmed by a wave of pure, shattering joy.
Once the initial shock settled, the doctor guided them through the detailed anatomical breakdown of the scans.
"Looking at the first report from Mr. Marcone’s surrogate," the doctor said, pointing to the screen, "you’re expecting two healthy boys."
Matteo’s smile stretched wider than it ever had in his life. "And for Adrian’s?"
The doctor turned to the second file. "Two healthy girls."
Adrian stared at him, his voice barely a breath. "Two girls?"
The doctor nodded. "Two girls."
Adrian laughed through his tears. "Two girls... two boys..." He looked up at Matteo, his face glowing with pure happiness. "We’re really having four babies."
Matteo wrapped his arms securely around his waist, holding his entire world. "Four little ones, my love."
Adrian leaned his head against Matteo’s chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. The dream they had whispered about in dark rooms, the future they had fought tooth and nail to secure, was finally, beautifully real. Four little lives were growing, and soon, their home would echo with the sweetest sounds imaginable.
"I can’t wait to meet them," Adrian whispered, a soft smile on his lips.
"Neither can I, baby," Matteo murmured, pressing a lingering kiss to the top of his head. "Neither can I."
They sat there together in the quiet warmth of the room, arms locked around one another, staring at the monochrome images flickering on the screen.
Four tiny lives.
Four little hearts.
And an infinite, breathtaking future waiting for them.
Their family was finally on its way.
