[BL] The Mafia Boss Wants My Body

Chapter 358: Forgiveness Before Forever Begins

"I know I don’t deserve to be invited to your wedding," he began, his voice rough with emotion. "After everything I’ve done... after the way I sent you away when you were just a child, blaming you for a tragedy that was never your fault."

He swallowed hard. "I have never been the father you needed, Adrian. Not when you needed me most. And I know that after more than two decades, I can’t simply erase what I did."

His fingers tightened against the edge of the desk. "I regret it every single day. There is no way for me to take those years back. I can’t pretend it never happened, because it did. I sent my own son away when he needed his father to hold him, protect him, and tell him that none of it was his fault."

His voice cracked. "I failed you."

He took a shaky breath, forcing himself to continue. "And all I can do now is admit that I was wrong. Everything I did to you was wrong. The way I treated you, the things I said, the years I allowed to pass without being the father you deserved... I regret all of it."

His eyes remained fixed on Adrian. "I don’t know if I have any right to ask you for anything after all these years. But if there is still a place in your heart where you can forgive me, please... find it."

He paused, his voice dropping to a quiet plea. "Please forgive me, Adrian. I know I may not feel like the father who matters to you anymore, but I am still your father, and I am deeply sorry for everything I did wrong."

Adrian’s breath hitched as a lifetime of painful memories flashed through his mind, the lonely nights, the cold beds, and the silent tears he had cried into his pillow when he had no one to turn to.

Yet, as he sat there, a deep sense of calm settled over him. He thought about the life he had built despite everything. He thought about the man waiting just outside those doors, the man who loved him fiercely and would stand beside him through anything.

Adrian looked his father directly in the eyes, his expression quiet and resolute.

"I don’t hold anything against you," Adrian said softly. "My life was far from the kind of life a child deserves to live. I saw the hatred. I lived through the coldness, the nights I cried myself to sleep, and the years I had to figure things out on my own. I know you can’t give those years back to me, and you can’t erase what happened."

His father lowered his head, struggling to hold back his emotions.

"But I forgive you, Father. I’m not doing it because you deserve it," Adrian continued, his voice steady. "I’m doing it because I deserve to live without this burden. I refuse to carry your mistakes, your guilt, or my anger into the future I’m building. I want peace. I want to move forward with the person I love without constantly looking back at what happened."

Adrian took a slow breath. "What happens from here is up to you. If you want to find a way to be the father you weren’t able to be before, that’s your choice. I don’t know how you’re going to do it, and I’m not going to force you. But I need you to know one thing."

His eyes remained fixed on his father. "I forgive you. I’ve let go of the past."

His father’s eyes filled with tears. He looked down for a moment, unable to hide the emotion any longer.

He had missed his son’s childhood. He had lost years he could never recover. And now, looking at the man Adrian had become despite everything, he couldn’t help but wonder how different his son’s life might have been if he had chosen differently.

"I’m sorry," his father said quietly. "Please forgive me, Adrian. From now on, I’ll be the father you deserve. Please, son."

Adrian looked at him for a long moment.

"It’s easy to say that," he said softly. "But don’t just say it. Put it into action. Most people don’t even know I’m your son except for those close to you. That has always been unfair to me, especially when I never did anything to deserve it. I have never wronged you."

His father nodded, his eyes filled with regret. "I know, son. I know you never did anything wrong. I will do the right thing from now on. I promise. Please forgive me."

Adrian held his father’s gaze for a moment before slowly nodding. "I forgive you. I just hope things get better from now on."

His father nodded silently.

Adrian then turned toward the door and called softly, "Babe?"

Slowly, the heavy doors opened again, and Matteo stepped back into the room, immediately sensing the change in the atmosphere.

Adrian’s father wiped a hand across his wet face, trying to regain his composure before looking at Matteo.

"Matteo," he said quietly, his voice thick with emotion. "I owe you an apology too."

Matteo remained silent, listening.

"When you first came into Adrian’s life, I fought against you because of my own anger and fear. I allowed my past to blind me, and I treated you unfairly. Even when things went too far and violence was involved, I still refused to see what you truly meant to my son."

He lowered his gaze for a moment. "I’m sorry for every barrier I put between you and Adrian. You didn’t deserve any of it."

Matteo’s expression softened. He stepped closer to Adrian and gave his future father-in-law a respectful nod.

"We’ve all made mistakes, sir. What matters is that we understand them and choose to do better."

Adrian glanced between them, his heart feeling lighter than it had in years.

His father looked at them both, then slowly nodded. "Thank you."

Matteo reached for Adrian’s hand and held it firmly.

"We want you there," Matteo said sincerely. "Not just as Adrian’s father, but as family. We want you standing beside us when we say our vows. We want you at our wedding."

His father stared at them for a moment. A small, emotional smile finally appeared on his face as he nodded. "I would be honored."

Adrian gave him a quiet smile.

"Then we’ll see you there, Father."

A few minutes later, Adrian and Matteo walked out of the study hand in hand. As they made their way through the estate and stepped outside, Adrian felt a strange sense of peace settle over him. He knew the past hadn’t disappeared. The years they had lost could never be returned. But for the first time, he no longer felt like he had to carry them with him.

Matteo squeezed his hand as they walked toward the waiting car.

Adrian looked at him and smiled. They slid into the back seat, and the driver pulled away from the estate. The heavy iron gates closed behind them as they headed back toward their own life.

That same Sunday, while Matteo and Adrian were visiting Adrian’s father, Charles and Mark traveled to Charles’s parents’ home.

Charles spent the entire journey trying to prepare himself for the conversation ahead. He had imagined telling his parents he was gay many times, but now that the moment had finally come, fear kept creeping back in.

He knew there was no way around it anymore. He had to tell them about Mark.

When they arrived, Charles didn’t immediately bring up the subject. He simply introduced Mark as someone important and let the visit unfold naturally. They spent time together with his family, sharing meals and conversations while Charles quietly tried to find the right moment to tell his parents everything.

As the days passed, Charles slowly gathered the courage he needed. He knew he couldn’t keep hiding forever. Eventually, he sat down with his parents and finally told them that he was gay, that he had fallen in love with a man, and that Mark was the person he loved and wanted in his life.

He braced himself for the worst.

Instead, his mother immediately reached for Mark’s hand and welcomed him warmly.

His father was more difficult to read. Disappointment briefly crossed his face, but after a long silence, he finally looked at his son.

"I may need some time to understand everything," he admitted. "But you are my son, and your happiness matters most to me. If Mark makes you happy, then I will accept him."

Charles stared at his father, almost unable to believe what he had just heard. "Dad..."

His father gave him a small nod. "I only want you to be happy."

The relief that washed over Charles was almost overwhelming.

From that moment on, the atmosphere in the house became much lighter.

Charles’s mother made Mark feel completely at home, constantly checking if he needed anything and making sure he was comfortable. His sister was just as welcoming, quickly pulling Mark into conversations and treating him as though he had been part of the family for years.

Before long, Mark felt completely comfortable around them. Charles watched it all with quiet relief, the fear he had carried for so long finally beginning to disappear.

They spent the rest of the week enjoying their time together, sharing meals, conversations, and simple family moments that Charles had once been afraid he would never experience with Mark.

When it was finally time to leave Charles’s parents’ house, his mother hugged Mark tightly.

"You have to visit us again," she said.

His sister immediately agreed. "Yes, don’t let this be your last visit. You’re family now."

Mark smiled warmly. "I promise I’ll come again."

"Good," his mother said, hugging him once more.

Charles watched them with a quiet smile. For years, he had been terrified that his parents would never accept the person he loved. Now, seeing Mark so warmly welcomed into his family, he realized that the fear he had carried for so long was finally gone.

When they said their goodbyes and left the house, Charles felt lighter than he had in years.

By the time they returned home, there were only three days left until Matteo and Adrian’s wedding.

Everything had been taken care of. The venue was ready, their suits were finished, the rings were secured, and the final preparations were already in place.

There was nothing left for them to do but wait for the big day.

And waiting was exactly what Matteo hated most.

He had imagined this day for so long that knowing it was only three days away made him even more impatient.

Adrian eventually caught him checking the wedding schedule on his phone again.

"Babe, you know everything is ready, right?"

Matteo looked up. "I know."

Adrian raised an eyebrow. "Then why do you keep checking?"

Matteo sighed, pulling him closer. "Because I want the day to come already."

Adrian’s expression softened. "Three days isn’t that long."

"It feels long," Matteo murmured.

Adrian rested his head against Matteo’s chest.

Matteo looked down at him, his heart already racing at the thought of what was coming.

In just three days, he would finally stand beside Adrian, exchange vows with him, place a ring on his finger, and call him his husband.

He couldn’t wait.
