Chapter 335: Atlantis (2)
After clearing the entire Gadra wave, Melissa ordered they move out immediately, she was also getting exhausted.
If she had to fight another wave she didn’t know if she could hold on. Fortunately the merfolk were prepared.
In less than 2 hours they moved out, they remained deep in the ocean where light does not reach but high enough not to draw the attention of those who dwell below.
Melissa’s lineage members as well as the males of the merfolk moved at the edges making sure nothing gets through.
Their king swam alongside Melissa, he asked her questions about the pack, Melissa answered the best she could.
She was not very fond of such small talk, the only thing that interested her were battles, the king of Atlantis got the hint and stopped talking.
Since they were moving in a large group which had the old, pregnant women as well children.
Their speed was not very fast, it took them hours to cover half the distance to shore, Melissa sniffed the water.
" Stop." She came to a stop and looked up, above them shadows resembling the base of ships were circling the area.
There were more than 700 ships, all large enough to carry thousands of people and goods.
" What is it? What do you think they’re searching for?" Asked the king of Atlantis.
Melissa did not answer but her face was grim, the king of Atlantis knew immediately these people were after them.
Melissa’s senses were much higher than his, she could faintly hear the voices on those ships.
" It seems the news of your existence leaked somehow, I can sense a powerful aura on one of those ships, tell everybody to do deeper."
They listened to her and went deeper, the merfolk were able to easily handle the pressure.
Their bodies had evolved to stay deep in the ocean, even their children could handle the pressure easily.
The werewolves were different, they could handle it because they were physical monsters.
But when they went even deeper, it started effecting them, the first to struggle was a woman with long blonde hair.
She was an Omega from Melissa’s lineage, her ability allowed her to basically turn her skin into metal.
However this made her heavier making it harder to swim let alone float, Melissa nodded at her.
The woman alongside a few other werewolves remained above while the rest swam deeper.
They continued in their way but it wasn’t long before they met another problem. " Divers."
Whispered Melissa, in front of them were a group of about a dozen people in diving gear searching the bottom of the ocean.
" What should we do?" Princess Atlear asked with worry. Her father pointed his trident at the divers.
Melissa grabbed his arm and shook her head, " That will draw too much attention, we can’t afford it right now."
" It’s fine." Answered the king of Atlantis, an invisible wave shot out from his trident and envoloped the divers.
They didn’t seem to notice, soon after everybody heard a loud roar bellow from below.
The ocean floor churned and before anybody could react, large tentacles broke through the dirt and grabbed the divers.
The divers screamed and attacked the tentacles to no avail, they were dragged below the ocean in a blink of an eye.
This scene made even Melissa gulp, one of those people was at level 7 like she was, of course she was stronger but still.
For him to be so helpless against a single tentacle spoke much of the Gadra’s power.
" If you could control Gadra, why didn’t you do that during the wave?" Melissa asked.
" It doesn’t work that way, I cannot control them against their will, for them to listen out wills must align.
Or there must be some benefits for them to do anything I ask, rather than I control I mere suggest.
They choose whether to listen or not and during a wave, their will is to devour us, they would never listen."
" This one listened because there was benefit to attacking those guys?" Melissa asked.
The king of Atlantis nodded, " Indeed, they were food to it."
Melissa nodded, the king of Atlantis tried to say more but she was already moving, she remained vigilant.
They followed after her and swam for hundreds of kilometres, just when they thought they were safe.
The ocean above them exploded and a figure shot to the ground like a bolt of lightning.
" AHHHHHH!" The women and children screamed. The king of Atlantis formed a water barrier blocking the shockwave.
The figure swam back up, it was a werewolf and she looked rough but her body was regenerating fast.
Melissa did not bother asking what happened and swam up, she flew out and jumped onto a ship.
Everybody on its turned towards her and took fighting stances. Melissa scanned the entire ship,
Her gaze landed on the man who appeared to be the leader, he was dressed in fine clothing and adorned with jewellery.
" You do not look like a mermaid but you’re pretty, perhaps you are one, no matter, you’ll do fine to entertain me either way.
Being her to me." The ordered dismissively as if Melissa was nothing but air to him.
Melissa could sense his power, ’ Level 8, he will not be easy to deal with.’ Anybody who can reach level 8 meant they were high rank as well.
Sensing this man’s esper, Melissa knew he was at least equal to a count, that was a whole rank below her but he was a level above.
’ Most counts can’t break past level 7, this guy must be special somehow.’ Melissa did not underestimate him.
Those with the rank of a count had less than 30 percent of reaching level 8, those who did were either very talented or very rich.
Either way, they were dangerous, Melissa suddenly found herself surrounded by the man’s goons.
Leading them were two level 7 Fayera with menacing auras. Melissa looked past them to their leader.
" I don’t know who you are but the merfolk are under the protection of the pack, I would think twice before touching them." Melissa threatened.
" The pack? The werewolf pack?" Asked the leader, Melissa saw a bit of apprehension on his face before he calmed himself.
" So what, we’re from the Divine Tiger Empire, we do not fear your pack, give us the merfolk or die." The man threatened.
Melissa sighed, " Unfortunately I can’t do that, so I guess I’ll have to kill all of you then." She took her full werewolf form and howled.
