Chapter 105: Ball of Fairies
Karon condensed an armour of blood around himself, his blood was a deeper shade of red now.
Melissa attacked, her claws ripped the blood armour apart and drew gashes on his skin, the wounds started healing but it was slower than he expected.
Wolf claws had a slight effect similar to their venom, they could not only suppress abilities and magic to an extent but also healing.
Melissa being able to easily pierce through the blood armour was not merely a testament of her brute strength.
Karon jumped back and tried to retreat but he was slower than she was. She dug her claws into his chest.
He screamed and blood spikes attacked her like a wall. They pierced through her skin but failed to go deeper.
The force sent her reeling back a dozen metres. Karon used that opportunity to fly up.
He floated nearly a hundred metres in the air and looked down on her. He raised his hand high and blood converged above him.
It formed a massive blood drill nearly 5 metres long. The drill started spinning rapidly.
Wind gathered around it creating a mini cyclone. Then he lowered his hand, the air shattered.
Visible sonic booms followed behind the drill as it dropped above Melissa. She howled to the sky.
Instead of dodging she decided to respond with a swipe of her class. Her hand clashed with the drill.
She gripped it tightly with her claws but the force was stronger than she had expected. The hair on her arm stood on end.
The drill grinded against her hand creating blinding spikes, it managed to pierce through her hard fur and skin. The force pushed her into the ground.
It was only after she sank nearly an entire metre before the blood drill came to a stop, she felt it being pulled back and gripped it tighter.
Before Karon could react, she kicked off the ground and lunged at him, he flew further up but he was slower.
Her claws dug into his leg and she pulled him down. Karon gritted his teeth from the pain.
But he couldn’t allow himself to be pulled to the ground or fight her up close. He created a small blood dagger.
Melissa scoffed, he was crazy if he thought something like that would hurt her but his next action caught her off guard.
He cut off the flesh where her claws were, she lost her grip and fell to the ground while he flew back up.
This time he went down further up, Melissa created a small crater when she hit the ground.
She expected to see Karon attacking but he just looked at her without moving, then he looked behind her.
She looked back and saw that all the other vampires were dead. The werewolves also had wounds on them which were healing at a visible speed.
Melissa was not an idiot, even if she promised she would fight him fair, there was no way Karon would continue fighting in this situation.
As expected, Karon immediately took off and flew away. They all cursed, " Boss isn’t going to be happy about this." Melissa cursed.
The boss in question was currently in a very confusing situation. After that dream he found himself in a ballroom.
There were people of all races dancing and some singing, they were dressed like they were in the Victorian period.
He looked down at himself and realised he too was dressed like this. ’ Where the hell am I?’ he wondered.
" It matters not where you are, what matters is why you’re here." He saw a man and woman walking towards him.
’ Quite beautiful, their beauty transcends common sense, almost rivalling my own.
" My dear husband, did this child compare his beauty to that of fairies?"
" Indeed my love he did." They talked to each other but Adrian was wondering if they were reading his mind.
That felt invasive to him. " We don’t have to read your mind, there are no secret in our court."
The woman answered his question but Adrian didn’t feel relieved. " Tell me why am I here?"
The couple looked at each other then shrugged. " We could ask you the same thing." The man spoke.
" Normally none can enter our ball without invitation yet here you are." The woman spoke next.
Adrian was even more confused, " What’s this ball you keep talking off?" He asked and the couple looked confused.
" Have you not heard of the ball of fairies? How old are you child?" The woman asked and drew closer to him.
Adrian felt no malice so he did not move back, she reached out and touched his cheek.
" Uh, I see." She smiled gently at him but he saw a hint of sadness in her eyes.
" It makes sense why you lack such knowledge. Few know of us fairies, this here is the palace of the queen and king of fairies and this is their ball.
Normally one would need an invitation to come here through the dreaming but it seems you found your own path to this place."
He listened attentively but nothing was making sense, from her words she was implying he was dreaming.
However that made no sense because he was certain this was real, he could feel it.
" Real? What is reality and what is a dream but a state of our own choosing, dreams can be your reality and reality be a dream, how do you know which is which?"
The man asked in amusement and Adrian didn’t know how to answer. " Come, let us feast before your departure."
He followed them to a table with a lot of fruits and vegetables. " You’ll forgive us child of the moon, we unlike your kind do not consume flesh."
He didn’t say anything, he didn’t like vegetables or fruits especially after becoming a werewolf but he can still eat them.
Only chocolate was inedible now, he picked a few grapes and started eating. The couple watched him with longing like eyes, especially the woman.
If one didn’t know they would swear she was his mother. The man looked up, " It appears it’s time for you to leave, till we meet again."
When the man said that, the woman smiled sadly which Adrian did not see.
" What did you see my love?" He asked his wife.
The fairy woman reached out into thin air and pulled golden sands. They shifted and danced around her hand.
" I saw the future but a past, one the other and the other itself, a grim hope and the dark light."
Her words would’ve confused anybody else but her husband understood and he sighed, " Couldn’t the peace last a bit longer?"
