Ch. 18
Chapter 18: The Jealous Ye Yuyou
Inside a dessert shop, Shen Yi’an slowly tasted her strawberry sundae, while Xiao Xiaoxiao sat across from her.
“Sister Yi’an, why did you give me so much money back then?”
“You helped me do something. Isn’t it normal to pay you?” Shen Yi’an replied calmly.
“Sister Yi’an, you’re amazing—not only are you skilled, you’re also rich,” Xiao Xiaoxiao said with admiration.
She knew Shen Yi’an’s age—only two years older than her—yet the gap between them felt like heaven and earth.
Thinking of something, Xiao Xiaoxiao voiced her curiosity instead of keeping it in. “Sister Yi’an, why does the Shen Yi’an in that video have the same name as you?”
“We’re the same person,” Shen Yi’an said bluntly, with nothing to hide.
“Huh!?” Xiao Xiaoxiao was shocked. “Sister Yi’an, were you crossdressing as a guy before?”
“…” Shen Yi’an fell silent for a moment before replying, “You can think of it that way.”
Hearing this, Xiao Xiaoxiao didn’t probe further and instead started asking questions like checking someone’s household registration. “Then which university do you go to, Sister Yi’an? Yandu University?”
“Mm. Why do you talk so much? Eat and talk less,” Shen Yi’an scolded in a parental tone.
“But we’re eating dessert~” Xiao Xiaoxiao continued chatteringly. “I’m so envious~ I also want to experience college life~”
Xiao Xiaoxiao had excellent grades, but because she had to care for her father and cover his expensive medical bills, she gave up her guaranteed admission to Yandu University and became a hacker.
“What’s there to envy? Living well in the present is what matters most.” Shen Yi’an’s gaze softened as she took out a tissue and wiped Xiao Xiaoxiao’s mouth.
As she said this, she couldn’t help but question herself—she made it sound so easy, but had she truly done the same?
“Yeah… I want to take my dad traveling in the future, so he can see lots of new things,” Xiao Xiaoxiao said with bright anticipation.
Even though traveling the world with a father suffering from ALS would be difficult, he was the person she loved most.
At the very least, before he passed away, she wanted him to see as many beautiful sights as possible.
“Mm… that’s a very good idea.” Shen Yi’an said, a trace of sadness flashing in her eyes. ALS couldn’t be cured—she couldn’t save Xiao Xiaoxiao.
The system existed only to serve her. It wouldn’t save anyone else, no matter what—even if she threatened her own life.
Xiao Xiaoxiao lifted the plate with one hand, about to scoop up some dessert, but with a clang, the plate and cake shattered onto the floor. She froze for a moment, then gave Shen Yi’an an awkward smile.
“Sorry… my hand slipped.”
“Let the staff handle it.” Shen Yi’an stood up, walked over to Xiao Xiaoxiao—who had already bent down to clean—and stopped her, calling a server instead.
The staff quickly arrived with tools and cleaned up the mess.
“I’m really sorry. How much was the plate? I’ll compensate you,” Xiao Xiaoxiao said apologetically.
“It’s alright, a plate isn’t worth much. As long as you didn’t cut your hand or dirty your clothes, it’s fine,” the manager said with a smile.
Hearing that only made Xiao Xiaoxiao feel more uneasy. “I should still pay for it, otherwise I won’t feel right.”
“Alright, since when does a younger sister treat?” Shen Yi’an said, taking her hand and scanning the payment code with her phone, paying for everything.
“Welcome again!” the manager called out warmly as the two left the shop.
Not for any other reason—just Shen Yi’an sitting there had already attracted quite a few passersby through the window, bringing in extra customers.
On the street, Shen Yi’an walked while holding Xiao Xiaoxiao’s hand. One tall and cool, the other petite and cute—they looked just like sisters in the eyes of others.
“Go home and rest properly. Don’t go wandering to secluded places for no reason, and try not to go out at night. If you’re craving something, go to busy streets, understand?” Shen Yi’an spoke like a concerned mother.
Instead of feeling annoyed, Xiao Xiaoxiao felt warmth from the endless reminders. Before, she had called Shen Yi’an “sister” out of politeness—but now, she truly saw her as one.
“Okay, Sister Yi’an. I’ll listen to you.”
“It’s almost your place. I’ll walk you a bit further, then I won’t see you off,” Shen Yi’an said.
“Mhm~” Xiao Xiaoxiao responded softly.
The two walked for a while—then suddenly stopped.
From a branded dessert shop, a stunning black-haired girl with a cold, aloof aura stepped out.
She wore a white turtleneck sweater that outlined her full, perfect figure, paired with a short skirt and black stockings that stirred the imagination.
Walking with long strides and an indifferent expression, she turned her head—
And the moment she saw Shen Yi’an and Xiao Xiaoxiao, her expression changed drastically. The exquisite shopping bag in her hand dropped to the ground.
“An’an!?”
Seeing their joined hands, jealousy exploded within her.
Ye Yuyou strode forward, casting a cold glance at Xiao Xiaoxiao before looking at Shen Yi’an with a pitiful expression.
“An’an~ who is she?!”
“…” Shen Yi’an was speechless. In her previous life, Ye Yuyou knew Xiao Xiaoxiao—had she forgotten?
“None of your business.” Shen Yi’an calmly pulled Xiao Xiaoxiao along, passing by Ye Yuyou as she said this.
Watching their retreating figures, Ye Yuyou completely lost control.
Was An’an being taken away!?
No—absolutely not!
An’an could only belong to her!
“Ah-choo!” Xiao Xiaoxiao suddenly felt a chill down her spine.
It was as if something terrifying was staring at her.
“This is far enough.” Shen Yi’an let go of her hand.
“Mm, goodbye, Sister Yi’an!” Xiao Xiaoxiao smiled and waved.
“Goodbye.” Shen Yi’an turned and left.
As Xiao Xiaoxiao watched her leave and was about to use facial recognition at the entrance—
Clang!
She looked over—and froze.
A short dagger had been embedded into the metal gate that had been perfectly intact just moments ago.
“What is your relationship with An’an?!”
Ye Yuyou approached step by step, her killing intent overwhelming, her expression twisted and obsessive.
“Ah… ah…” Xiao Xiaoxiao stood there, completely stunned.
Xiao Xiaoxiao froze, completely at a loss—until Ye Yuyou pulled out another dagger and pressed it against her neck.
“I—I’m Sister An’an’s sworn little sister!”
Hearing this, Ye Yuyou paused, staring at her for a few seconds.
Now that she mentioned it… she did seem a bit familiar.
Memories flickered—
And instantly, the coldness vanished from Ye Yuyou’s face, replaced by a gentle smile.
“Oh~ so you’re An’an’s little sister~ I’m sorry~ big sister got a little too emotional just now~ don’t mind it~”
She smiled as she pulled the dagger out of the metal gate and slipped it back into the sheath strapped against her thigh.
Xiao Xiaoxiao’s mouth twitched slightly.
A little… too emotional? She almost killed me just now…
“As an apology~ take this.” Ye Yuyou took out a black-gold card and handed it over.
The card could be used in high-end stores and luxury brands, with a balance of several million remaining.
“Th-this isn’t necessary… I’m fine, I didn’t get hurt.” Xiao Xiaoxiao waved her hands, refusing. Just from the material and design, she could tell the card was anything but ordinary.
Ye Yuyou simply smiled, then slipped the card into Xiao Xiaoxiao’s pocket.
“An’an’s little sister is my little sister too, so don’t be polite~”
Without waiting for a response, she turned around in a cheerful mood, her small leather shoes tapping lightly as she gradually disappeared from Xiao Xiaoxiao’s sight.
