Chapter 89: Chaotic Streets
Adal spent a few minutes going over Colette’s first options for her skills and ended up making a decision for her.
It was a selfish decision, as the entire time, Adal was thinking about how such choices would benefit him.
The skill she ended up choosing was a skill called Truth Seeking Eye. It was a vision ability that would allow her to see through people’s lies if they were a lower level than her, or unawakened. That way, if Adal was able to make her become strong enough, he could bring her to future political meetings, and use her to figure out whether people were lying to him or not.
"It will take some getting used to." Adal then explained to her. "I’m sure that with a skill like this, you will find out that the majority of humans are liars. Don’t feel hurt by this, and think of it as a positive. It’s better to see the lies than be deceived by them."
Colette took in the information and nodded her head hesitantly. It felt wrong to have such power.
Welcome to my life, Adal thought.

After this, Colette decided to hang around the library to relax and be in safe company. She found a desk to sit and read at.
By this point, Juliette had finally woken up from her sleep with a pleasant look on her face. After showering, she put on her clothes and joined Penelope to work on the main floor.
The library mostly remained quiet, as people were too frightened to travel the streets to get there.
That gave Adal a chance to leave the library. He had a lot to get done, after all. However, making that decision was the difficult part.
He was torn between a few options.
Heading back to Antarctica to visit Princess Opal.
Heading to the Velvet Curtain Theatre to make sure Willow Collins was doing fine.
Heading to the City Dungeons and putting Olympia and her explosives to use.
Each decision came with it’s on risks and rewards. He decided to put the Theatre on hold for now, as although Willow was incredibly sexy, she was of the least importance at the moment.
Adal was hesitant in heading back to Antarctica to visit Opal, as he wondered whether the King had heard about Adal’s New alliance with the Sun Elves, and might see him as an enemy.
As for the dungeons, it was a dangerous mission, as it required him to travel through the treacherous cities, yet it carried many benefits.
He would be able to meet Nimrodel, the Sun Elf again, who he believed was his most powerful current ally, and he could also use Olympia to deliver a powerful blow to the Sun Elves.
Adal nodded his head once he had made his decisions, and fetched the weapons that he was prepared to bring. Afterwards, he told Juliette where he would be going, and told Colette that she should stay there until he was back.
Finally, he made his way over to Penelope. The green-haired beauty still carried that sadness with her from earlier.
Her eyes lit up a little bit, and even more when Adal spoke to her.
"Come with me. I would like to take you somewhere."
Penelope blinked.
"O-of course. Where are we going?"
"To the city dungeons."

As Adal and Penelope travelled through the streets of Fairwhite City, they witnessed the chaos. Where civilians dared to walk, there were protests and small-scale riots.
Stores had closed down and were being robbed of their wares. Trash was scattered across the pavement, turning the once beautiful city ugly. In a few places, corpses or severely injured bodies were scattered. How they ended up like that was clear.
Penelope kept close to Adal, practically pushing herself up against his arm. He could see the wary look in her eyes as she looked around.
They were making their way towards the city dungeons, and along the way, Adal explained the entire situation to him, as well as the reason for their visit.
He did not shy away from truths. He told Penelope about plots and schemes that the woman had no idea even existed.
Once done, she could only look at him in awe. She wondered how a simple librarian could arrive at the centre of such powerful people.
Most importantly, however, she wondered why Adal had decided to take her.
"Why me, and not Juliette?" She asked, as they passed a man protesting with a vicious crowd on the corner of a street. "Or even Colette. Those women are awakened whilst I am useless."
Adal remained silent for a few moments listening to the protester. He was going on about how they should overthrow the Council, and become a democracy.
It was interesting to see the state of things.
"Because you are equally as important to me as any of my other women. You think you are unworthy because of your past, but in truth, you are more than worthy. And I believe The Mother believes the same too."
Penelope blinked, enamoured by his words.
Then, she asked. "What do you mean? Sure The Mother—"
Before she could continue, her words were cut off by the sound of grunts coming from down an alleyway.
Adal looked down the dark path and focused his vision. He still couldn’t make out what was going on, but the grunts and words coming from the alleyway were enough to confirm what was going on.
"Fucking whore. I paid you for this, so you’ll do it the way I want it!"
The words came from a man’s voice and were followed by the cries of a woman. Adal’s eyes began to adjust to the darkness and so did Penelope’s.
Down the alleyway, they saw a brute of a man trying to force himself onto a prostitute in ways she clearly wasn’t comfortable with.
He smacked her across the face, and the blow made Penelope physically recoil.
Prostitution was common in Fairwhite City so she tried to turn her head away from it and keep walking.
In another world, that could have been me... She thought to herself silently, wishing to walk past the scene and forget about it. It seemed to bring up dark memories.
Then she noticed Adal had turned and was heading down the alleyway towards the two people.
