Chapter 74: Dinner
With his strength and endurance, it did not take long for Desther to move everything to the third floor.
When he was done, Desther did not even pant. A clear testament to his improvements these past few days.
Now, the only thing left was for him to arrange the things and tidy things up.
Not wasting any time, Desther immediately went into action.
And just a few minutes later, Desther was already done with setting up everything.
When he looked at the time, he realized that it was already way past noon.
Strangely enough, although accustomed to eating three times a day, Desther actually did not feel any hunger even without being able to eat lunch.
He did not feel tired either and even felt that he was more energetic than ever.
Desther guessed that it was probably due to him leveling up multiple times today.
When he entered the dungeon this morning, he was only level 2. When he got out around noon, he was already at level 9.
Anyone who heard of this absurd feat would surely think that he was a liar.
After all, no matter how good experience yields are inside a newly emerged dungeon, leveling up twice a day was already a good harvest.
The experience acquired in real life was not just the same in video games and novels he had read before.
Here, everything depended on luck, whether you would gain experience points when killing a monster or not.
Speaking of luck, Desther has also noticed that his luck seemed to have truly gotten up these past few days. If not for his absurd luck of gaining experience points from hunting monsters, Desther did not even think that he would be able to reach level 4 today.
Desther recalled the description of the title that kept on giving him trouble, as well as rewards he could not afford to refuse.
[ Title: Chosen One ]
[ Description: You are the destined savior of humanity.
Destiny favors you. Luck is on your side.
You will receive missions according to your encounter and receive corresponding rewards. ]
The phrase, ’Destiny favors you. Luck is on your side’ seemed to be quite true due to what he was experiencing these past few weeks. Everything just seemed to go in his favor, no matter what he did.
But for every action, there should be a reaction.
For every effect, there must be a cause.
For his luck to be that great, what kind of price must he pay to complete the law of equivalent exchange?
’Must I really be the savior that it spoke of? ’
’How does the title define saving humanity anyway...’
If its definition of saving humanity was by killing monsters and breaking dungeons, then he thought that there were better candidates out there than him.
There was literally no redeeming quality in regard to himself.
He was lazy and preferred to stay at home if he had a choice.
If it were not mandatory, he would not randomly decide and enter a dungeon to clear it.
Through and through, it was apparent how unworthy Desther was of this title.
’Is it because of my talent?’ Desther could not help but think to himself.
Did you choose me because of this talent?
This was a question that Desther knew would not be answered.
Anyway, after he pondered over some things, Desther decided to lay down on his new bed and read some novels to pass time.
Later on, he planned to eat a hearty meal. Not only to celebrate him moving to a new home, it was also to celebrate his advancement to level 9. He was only one level away from reaching level 10.
By that time, he must also decide what kind of path he should ultimately choose.
Even until this moment, Desther was still undecided, though.
Not thinking too much about it, Desther decided to browse novels with Awakening as its theme.
Reading such novels, he hoped that they would inspire him to the kind of build he would pursue.
A tank warrior seemed great and pretty badass. But a mage with swift reflexes was also pretty cool. An archer that could snipe an enemy from a mile away, or an assassin that could deal devastating and precise strikes all the time.
There were a lot of options to choose from that Desther was still undecided about even at this moment.
After a few hours of lying down, Desther took a glance at the time and noticed that it was already 6 in the evening.
When one reads a novel they like, time passes in the blink of an eye.
Since it was already 6, Desther decided to head out and have dinner.
Although he still did not feel any hunger, as someone who workout, Desther knew that eating was very important.
Since the restaurant where Auntie Macey worked was a little far from here, Desther decided to roam around to have a feel of the surroundings.
Like what he always does, he observed and took note of everything just in case he needed them when the time came.
Being prepared has always been the motto that he abides by the most.
After a few minutes, Desther finally found a restaurant where he could dine in.
This time, a man wearing the waiter uniform approached him.
He handed them the menu as Desther went over to see what kind of food he should order.
Of course, the food’s protein content was still a priority for him.
Since he was already done with chicken breast yesterday, Desther decided to check out another dish this time around.
After some time, he finally decided on a lobster.
Although it was expensive, Desther had already decided to treat himself to a meal anyway. He deserves this after a long day of work.
Lobsters were definitely creatures with large amounts of protein content.
Not only that, lobsters also taste very good, no matter what kind of dish they will be made into.
The only problem regarding lobsters was how pricey and expensive they were in the market.
It was already expensive way before the apocalypse happened. Now, it became even more expensive due to scarcity and danger encountered while hunting them.
Fortunately, the Sierra Madre area was a little better when it comes to seafood prices. After all, this mountain range directly faces the Pacific Ocean, which has now become a forbidden zone due to sea monsters.
Anyway, a single lobster nowadays could cost up to 20 Awakened Credits, depending on the quality and size.
Desther chose the medium-sized one for 15 Awakened Credits. He ordered a total of four, making this whole meal cost him 60.
This was already almost half of his monthly rent.
However, Desther did not regret it at all.
Treating oneself to fine cuisine from time to time was definitely a good experience.
After a few minutes of waiting, the cooked lobsters were finally in front of him.
The four lobsters were cooked in different ways.
One was grilled, the other was made into soup, one was fried, and the last one was chopped into cubes and made into sushi.
As a typical Asian man, rice would obviously be present every time he ate. This time around was not an exemption.
When the waiter put all the orders on the same table, he could not help but take a few looks at Desther.
Seeing his young appearance, the waiter thought that Deather and his family must be pretty wealthy for them to allow a teenager to casually eat such an expensive meal.
Anyway, Desther ignored the man’s gaze as he began to devour the four lobsters in front of him.
Although he did not feel any hunger earlier, Desther’s appetite was still pretty good, and he was able to finish all of them without any issue.
The four medium-size lobsters, though, did not make him feel full either.
Desther did not think too much about it. He paid the bill and rested for a bit before standing up.
It was already almost 8 when he was done eating.
When he left the seafood restaurant, Desther noticed that it was already 8 in the evening.
Since his new home was not that far, he decided to take a detour and walk the long route instead of going to the easy one.
As he walked forward, Desther immediately noticed that someone seemed to be following closely behind.
With his enhanced senses, Desther immediately realized that there were actually two of them.
Not wanting to alert the two of them, he decided to play their own game as he slowly walked toward a dark alley.
His survey earlier indeed worked pretty well. Not even a day had passed, and he already had a place ready just in case something like this happened.
Just to confirm that they were indeed following him, Desther decided to set up a test.
He decided to turn to the right three times.
By this point, Desther wholeheartedly believed that the two of them were indeed following him.
After all, if they were just going in the same direction, why would they follow behind him even after having turned right three times? They were technically back to where they began.
Now that it was already confirmed, Desther did not waste any more time and immediately went to that dark alley he had seen earlier.
When he was already inside and after sensing that the two stalkers entered the alley, Desther immediately turned around to face them and to get a closer look at who they were.
