SSS Awakening: I Can Steal Attributes

Chapter 73: Apartment

Desther searched for a few minutes and finally found an apartment available nearby. Although it costs 150 Awakened Credits per month, Desther thought that it would be worth it as long as the place was big enough.

Seeing the pictures online, it seemed to be a lot better than what that scammer showed him earlier.

Desther then moved out to check the place directly, not wanting to waste any time. He was afraid that others would beat him to it.

Since the place was a bit far compared to his current room, Desther decided to ride a taxi instead.

Nowadays, there were a lot of taxis that operated on the roads.

Most of them were electric-powered cars since gas has become too expensive and too hard to get.

Aside from these electric-powered cars, one would also be able to see a carriage literally pulled by some humans, or more precisely, Awakened Professionals that do not want to fight and prefer a much more stable life.

For example, the taxi that Desther hailed was driven by a man with a robust build. His body was full of muscles, and his calves were bulging like crazy.

And by driving, what it meant was that the man himself was pulling the heavy carriage like a horse pulling a cart.

When they arrived at the destination, the man was barely sweating. It was obvious that his talent involved strength and endurance too.

Paying him 1 Awakened Credit, Desther turned around and observed the apartment that he had seen online.

The apartment itself was not that big.

It was only three storeys tall and seemed to be in a good spot. It was just a minute’s walk from the public road, so it won’t be too noisy during peak hours.

Desther walked forward and asked for the details.

He was then led to a room where he met the manager of the apartment. She was a woman in her forties with an amiable smile.

After some introduction, the manager went straight to the point and told Desther that there was only one room vacant as of this moment.

It was also the last room on the third floor, so she warned him in advance regarding the location, as others might not want it since the apartment does not have any elevator. If one wants to go up, they must go up the stairs.

This was not a problem for Desther.

He and the manager went up and arrived in front of the room a few minutes later. The manager was visibly panting, but Desther felt nothing at all with his attributes.

"A-alright... this is the room. Floor 3, Room 12," she said while taking out the key and inserting it in the knob’s keyhole.

The moment he saw the interior, Desther nodded his head in approval, as it was the same as the one posted online.

At first glance, Desther felt that he liked the room already.

It was way bigger compared to the one he viewed earlier.

It has its own bathroom and toilet. The bed was already king-size, and there was enough space to move around if he wanted to do his daily workout.

The kitchen was also bigger compared to his current room, with an induction cooker already in place for the renter to use.

All in all, Desther was pretty satisfied with this room.

"I like it. When can I move in?"

"Well, once you pay the one-month deposit, then you can move in anytime you want," she answered with a shrug of her shoulders.

"Anyway, if you’re really keen, we can go downstairs to write up the contract."

"Alright," Desther did not object and followed behind her back as they went downstairs once more.

After a few minutes, the contract was printed, and they both signed the agreement.

Desther also read everything carefully, and he found no problem with it.

According to the contract, a one-month security deposit needs to be paid along with the one monthly rental before moving in. In case he defaulted and is not seen for at least three months, the establishment has the right to lease the room to another person.

And if he somehow came back while there was already someone renting the place, the establishment would return his security deposit as well as the one month advance payment.

Basically, they would provide him with two month’s worth of rent.

Desther did not think that he would leave that long either, so he accepted it without hesitation.

He also paid the 300 Awakened Credits, and with that, his room problem was no longer an issue.

Now, he did not want to wait any longer. Planning to move in right away.

The manager, who introduced herself as Stella, also told him that they could help with his move.

She called a friend over that was also offering a taxi ride around the shelter.

The establishment offered the ride to him for free. It was definitely a welcomed addition for Desther.

The man-driven carriage this time was different compared to what he rode earlier.

With his keen observation, he saw that the man pulling the carriage this time around seemed to be only around his twenties.

Usually, at such an age, an Awakened Professional would still be quite active in hunting monsters to earn money.

He wondered what prompted the man to become a driver of a carriage like this.

His strength did not seem to be suitable for this kind of job either.

Anyway, Desther likes to observe his surroundings but doesn’t want to form any interference or help.

No one knows what the others were truly thinking, so it was always better to stay silent and mind your own business.

After some time, the carriage finally arrived at his home.

Desther began to move his things to the carriage. The driver wanted to help at first, but Desther declined, saying that he got it.

He does not have that many things anyway, and with his strength and endurance, this was just an easy task for Desther.

After a few minutes, all his things were finally inside the carriage.

And within another few minutes, the two arrived in the apartment complex once more.

Now, it was time to disembark the things and put them in his new room.
