Master, Your Wife Has Become a Super Star Through Fortune-Telling

Chapter 468 - 477

The old man’s face was grim, and he said nothing. But his grip on the fishing rod tightened, and he pulled with increasing force. Finally, the ripples on the lake’s surface grew larger, spreading out in concentric circles.

A faint sound even rose from the water. A strange sense of dread crept into the old man’s heart. He didn’t know if it was because of what Su Nian had just said—that his fishing rod could actually catch a ghost.

Deep down, the old man didn’t believe it. He even scoffed at the idea.

But now, he was inexplicably affected. A thread of nervousness took hold, and he even felt a chill crawling up his back.

[She said there was a ghost? Looks perfectly normal to me!]

[Yeah, seriously! Some people can only rely on spouting nonsense!]

[And she calls herself a streamer! I bet the only skill you have is scamming people out of their money!]

The bullet comments flooded the screen. For some reason, however, the old man’s back grew colder and colder, and a faint sheen of cold sweat broke out on his forehead.

His hands trembled slightly. A deeply ominous premonition flashed through his mind.

He couldn’t help but wonder, ’Could what that girl said actually be true?’

’No, no, it has to be fake. Things aren’t that mysterious.’

The old man was stubborn. He shot a cold glance at Su Nian, feeling a sense of danger.

He held his breath and focused, but when he looked at Su Nian, she was still her usual indifferent self, resting her chin on her hand.

Her eyes, however, were fixed on the distant lake surface, as if she were peering through the water at something.

He tightened his grip on the rod again. The weight on the line seemed to be getting closer and closer, and the old man’s composure was beginning to crack.

But he remained stubborn.

’It’s just a fish, right? What else could it be?’

Thinking this, he swallowed hard. He felt an unsettling churn in his stomach.

The ominous feeling deepened. He could even feel a chill seeping through his entire body, up the back of his neck, and across his forehead.

He swallowed again and tried to shift his focus.

He fixed his gaze completely on his fishing rod. ’What on earth did I hook?’

In the dead of night, the old man was all alone in the wilderness, straining to pull his fishing rod.

And on the end of his line was the thing Su Nian had called a ghost.

In this environment, even the normally brave old man felt a surge of anxiety and fear.

The remote wilderness at night seemed all the more unnerving.

The old man could faintly sense that animals nearby seemed to be fleeing. In such a strange atmosphere, these small details became even more bizarre and terrifying.

The old man felt something was wrong. ’Why does it feel like the whole environment has turned strange? For example, why is the moon suddenly hidden by dark clouds?’

He hadn’t noticed before anyone mentioned it, but after Su Nian’s words, he began to carefully observe his surroundings.

His heart pounded with growing anxiety. But the old man had always been proud and would never admit he was wrong. He just comforted himself internally, ’What could possibly happen?’

’She’s just a young girl spouting nonsense.’ With this thought, he gritted his teeth and, with all his might, gave a final heave on the line.

What could it possibly be?

[Sigh, I don’t know why, but I feel like it’s gotten a bit darker!]

[It’s normal for it to be dark, it’s nighttime. It would be weird if it was bright all the time.]

[Why do I feel like the grass is rustling, like something’s running through it!]

In reality, only Su Nian knew that the small animals that had been hiding in the grass were now fleeing.

Animals have the strongest perception of danger. Having already sensed the approaching peril, they were all scrambling to escape. Yet the old man was still holding on, putting up a brave front.

But this ordeal was something he was fated to experience.

Su Nian had only offered a simple warning. She knew from the start that he wouldn’t listen. Besides, even if he avoided it this time, he would just encounter it again later.

Su Nian said nothing, merely watching with a cold gaze as the old man reeled in that fishing rod, inch by inch.
