Chapter 177 - 178: The Princess and the Pea
She glanced at the slacker ghost, who had perked up for just two seconds before passing out again.
Su Nian shook her head. Before she could speak, two more figures—one black, one white—slowly materialized.
Before the viewers in the livestream could get a closer look, the screen went dark.
Su Nian knew the slacker ghost had likely been forcibly taken back to the underworld to be reincarnated.
"That ghost has been taken to the underworld. There are no more ghosts in that house."
"Mm-hm, okay, Streamer. I’m going to log off, then. I have a full day of classes and a part-time job tomorrow, so I need to get some rest."
Su Nian nodded and sent out the next giveaway.
It wasn’t long before a new client was chosen. Su Nian put her phone down and sent a private message to the user named "Easy Breeze."
After they coordinated, she made the call. A middle-aged woman in her forties appeared on the screen.
She was wearing an apron over a practical outfit—a white T-shirt and jeans—and looked very neat and tidy.
Her expression, however, was troubled. Her eyes were bloodshot as if from lack of sleep, and she seemed to be in very poor spirits.
The background behind her looked incredibly luxurious. The first thing one noticed was an extravagant hall, where an ornate light fixture cast a cold, bright light. The high walls threw dark shadows onto the soft carpet, and two famous paintings hung on the wall behind her.
[Whoa, so luxurious!]
[I was lucky enough to see that painting once! I heard it was later bought at auction by some tycoon. I thought I’d never see it again in my lifetime, but here it is.]
[The lady looks so down-to-earth. I can’t believe she’s this rich. She’s so low-key.]
Easy Breeze rubbed her lower back. "This villa is too big. It’s such a pain to clean."
[Damn it, I hate people who show off!]
[We get it, you’re rich. You don’t have to keep flaunting it.]
[I actually liked this lady a second ago, but the first thing she does is humblebrag. Instant turn-off.]
A portion of the viewers, however, went the sarcastic route.
[Ooooh, if you’re so rich, why don’t you hire a nanny?]
The woman looked visibly confused.
"But... I *am* the nanny they hired."
As she spoke, the woman opened the door to a bedroom and said, "This is my room. The nanny’s quarters."
...
Su Nian watched a stream of comments like "Honesty is the ultimate trump card" float by. She ignored them and addressed the woman. "If you need a divination, please pay the divination fee first. One Carnival."
"Okay." The woman snapped out of her daze and sent the gift.
Dazzling special effects filled the entire screen, and Su Nian began to recount the woman’s basic circumstances.
"Your family was likely well-off when you were a child. But because of your father’s affair, your parents divorced. Your mother passed away later, which led to you having a very difficult adolescence."
"You didn’t have enough money to finish your education, so you dropped out. Afterward, you came to the city and started working as a nanny, correct?"
"Yes, Streamer. I’ve been a nanny for many years now. I’ve made a decent amount of money with this work over the years, but I’ve recently discovered a problem with my current employers."
The woman said this as she closed the gift-giving interface, her face creased with worry. "Streamer, I think the young lady of the house might be possessed!"
Su Nian immediately asked, "What’s wrong?"
The woman swallowed hard, still shaken by the memory. "I’ve been working for this family for about three or four months. The pay is good, and they aren’t demanding. It’s just... their youngest daughter is very strange."
"She sleeps for a very long time every day. But I know that’s normal, since young people these days are always saying they’re tired."
"And besides sleeping a lot, this young girl... it seems like she has some mental issues. She’s always complaining that something in her bed is poking her and she can’t sleep."
