Chapter 214: The Curse Backlashes, the Divine Fetus Unleashes Its Power
"Absolutely not!"
Frost condensed around Lan Cangming. His ice-blue eyes were fixed on Su An’an, his voice laced with a rare urgency:
"The last time you helped me break the Mermaid Curse, your spiritual power nearly collapsed. The King’s Blood Curse will be even more difficult."
"The King’s Blood Curse will backlash against your Divine Power."
Night Abyss’s dragon tail thrashed anxiously against the ground, his black-and-gold scales striking sparks.
"Your body won’t be able to withstand it."
Ying Jiuyao abruptly blocked her path. His fluffy tail wrapped tightly around her waist, and his tiger claws were still trembling slightly.
"I can’t let you take this risk. I’ll go insane."
"Anan..."
Fei Zhao had just started to speak, but Su An’an cut him off. "All of you, shut up."
She slapped away the tiger tail coiled around her waist. Her butterfly Wings trembled violently with displeasure, showering the four beastmen with Phosphorus Powder.
"What I need are partners who will work with me to find a solution, not a chorus of naysayers lined up against me."
She narrowed her eyes, her gaze sweeping over the bristling White Tiger, the tense black dragon, the anxious fox, and the solemn mermaid.
She deliberately drew out her words.
"Or perhaps... you’re trying to force me to find a new batch of more obedient Beast Husbands?"
The Four Great Beast Husbands froze instantly.
Ying Jiuyao’s tiger ears shot up with a SWISH. His tail puffed into a fluffy ball, and a threatening growl rumbled from his throat.
"You dare! I’ll go tear apart any of those blind bastards right now!"
Night Abyss grabbed Ying Jiuyao’s arm and dragged him back half a step, a warning glint in his draconic eyes.
"Calm down! She’s just trying to provoke you."
"Fine!"
Fei Zhao was the first to cave. His nine foxtails drooped limply, and his pointed ears twitched nervously.
"We’ll try twice, at most."
He leaned in, looking pitiful.
"The moment you feel dizzy or your heart starts racing, you have to stop immediately."
Lan Cangming let out a long sigh, his fingertips resting lightly on Su An’an’s wrist.
"No more than ten minutes per attempt. I’ll monitor your pulse and Divine Power fluctuations in real time."
A small smile played on Su An’an’s lips as she pinched the fox’s feverish ears.
Then, she touched the mermaid’s icy fingertips. "Deal."
Ying Jiuyao and Night Abyss exchanged a look. Seeing the determination in her eyes, they could only nod in helpless agreement.
"Seville! What about you?"
Su An’an turned her head to the Swan Beastman standing in the shadows, the tip of her butterfly Wing lightly brushing against his tense shoulder.
"I don’t agree!"
Seville’s voice was as cold as tempered ice.
The black markings on his neck writhed madly, like countless venomous snakes flicking their forked tongues.
"If you insist on risking your life, I’ll fly into a black hole right now."
"And you’ll never find me again."
Su An’an’s butterfly Wings trembled violently, and Phosphorus Powder cascaded onto the metal floor.
She stared at the absolute, unyielding resolution in his eyes, her fingertips curling unconsciously.
"You win. We’ll find another way."
"Don’t. I can handle it myself."
Seville’s voice was hoarse. A sharp, tearing pain shot through his chest, forcing him to arch his back violently.
His translucent Golden Wings stretched taut, as if they would shatter at any moment.
"So stubborn!"
Su An’an’s eyes reddened. She wished she could just rip that stubborn mouth right off his face and stew it into a soup.
"Stay away from me!"
Seville suddenly began to pant heavily. Strange black lines crept into his amber pupils, like ink dropped into clear water.
His expression twisted into a savage snarl, his pupils contracting into predatory, vertical slits. He lunged, his hand shooting out to grab Su An’an by the throat.
But just as his fingertips were about to touch her skin, he snapped back to his senses, yanking his hand back.
He staggered and collapsed to his knees. Golden blood spilled from the corner of his mouth as a roar like that of a cornered beast ripped from his throat.
"Kill me! Do it now!"
Black mist shrieked and struggled between his tattered Wings, emitting an evil, bestial drone that made one’s skin crawl.
"No!"
Su An’an instinctively took two steps forward, her butterfly Wings spreading to shield him.
Seville trembled violently, as if in a life-or-death struggle against an evil presence within him.
The next second!
With a HISS, the black markings on his chest suddenly erupted.
Like a living thing breaking free from its shackles, they transformed into several jet-black arrows.
Swirling with a thick, foul, and hostile aura, they shot straight for Su An’an’s heart!
Su An’an immediately spread her butterfly Wings to block the attack.
But the black markings, as if they had eyes of their own, curved around her Wings and coiled around her wrists, greedily devouring her Divine Power.
The pink-gold glow of her butterfly Wings dimmed at a visible rate.
"Sever it!"
Night Abyss’s pupils contracted. His black-and-gold dragon tail swung down like a long blade of Profound Iron.
With a sharp CLANG, the dragon tail was repelled, and beads of blood rolled down its scales.
"Damn it!"
Ying Jiuyao roared in fury, and his White Tiger stripes suddenly flared with a blinding light.
His 4S Royal Domain erupted outwards, a pale golden pressure descending upon the black markings like a physical weight.
But far from being suppressed, the markings lashed back along the edge of the domain, striking Ying Jiuyao viciously in the chest!
Ying Jiuyao grunted and stumbled back three steps, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. "This thing can devour a King’s Domain?!"
Crimson flames ignited on all nine of Fei Zhao’s foxtails at once, weaving an impenetrable net of fire that descended upon the black markings.
"The sacred fire of the Fox Clan specializes in countering evil. Burn!"
But the moment the flames touched the black mist, they were extinguished with a PUFF.
The markings coiled around the tips of his tails instead, searing him. He cried out, whipping his tails back as a patch of his fiery red fur was instantly scorched black.
"This is insane! It can even counter Spiritual Fire?!"
Lan Cangming’s icy mist surged forward like a tide, instantly freezing half of the black markings. "Freeze!"
But before he had even finished speaking, the frozen markings began to emit a piercing, grinding sound.
They forced their way out of the ice, spreading along the mist to the back of his hand and leaving several searing, bloody marks.
The mermaid’s expression changed drastically.
"It’s attacking on its own! This isn’t an ordinary curse—it’s a conscious, evil entity!"
While everyone was in disarray, the black markings suddenly split into several tendrils.
One wrapped around Su An’an’s neck.
Another shot toward Night Abyss’s dragon horns.
Two more bypassed Seville entirely, lunging straight for the throats of Ying Jiuyao and Fei Zhao!
"Watch out!"
Seville’s eyes widened in horror. His Golden Wings flared open as he used their translucent expanse to block the attacks.
The black tendrils instantly pierced his Wings, sending out several sprays of blood.
He stumbled to his knees, his amber eyes filled with terror.
"It’s hunting! It’s using us as sustenance!"
Su An’an could barely breathe, constricted by the black markings. Her Divine Power was draining away faster and faster.
The Phosphorus Powder on her butterfly Wings fell away, congealing mid-air into tiny, ink-like beads.
She gritted her teeth and looked at Night Abyss and the others. "This thing is even more twisted than a King Blood Beast! It’s evolving!"
Night Abyss’s dragon tail struck again, but this time it was ensnared by the markings, which dragged him staggering forward half a step.
For the first time, a grave expression appeared in the Poison Dragon’s eyes.
"It can absorb the power of our attacks. The more we fight back, the stronger it gets!"
Seville suddenly grabbed Su An’an’s ankle and tried to drag her behind him.
"Go! Leave us!"
The black markings had already crawled up his cheeks, boring into his veins and heading for his heart.
"No!"
Su An’an used her last ounce of Divine Power. A pink light flared like a wildfire of sparks, lunging toward the black markings.
The black markings recoiled for a moment, then swelled into a surging tsunami that instantly engulfed her.
Just as the pink Divine Light was about to be extinguished, a blinding Golden Light erupted from her abdomen!
"AHH!"
Su An’an cried out in pain and clutched her abdomen. A searing pulse emanated from within, as if two suns were burning at once.
