Chapter 213: Su An’an Discovers the Truth
"Relay any news immediately."
Night Abyss clapped a firm hand on Seville’s shoulder.
"If you need help, just ask. Don’t try to tough it out."
Seville gave a slight nod, his amber pupils flickering in the light. "Protect Anan."
He paused, his voice dropping to a near whisper.
"And especially, don’t let anyone discover her identity as the Divine Female."
A sharp glint flashed in Night Abyss’s draconic eyes. "Don’t worry."
「In the conference room.」
Ying Jiuyao’s tail slapped restlessly against the floor.
Fei Zhao idly toyed with his Fox Fire.
Lan Cangming kept his eyes closed, deep in meditation.
The moment Night Abyss pushed open the door, all three Beast Husbands rose to their feet.
"How did it go?"
In a flash of silver light, Ying Jiuyao appeared before Night Abyss.
"It’s a curse from a King Blood Mutant Beast."
Night Abyss’s voice was leaden, each word landing with a heavy thud.
Ying Jiuyao’s tiger ears shot straight up. CRACK! His claw slammed down and shattered a water glass.
"Those madmen in the Rebel Army actually managed to breed a King Blood Mutant Beast."
"That bastard Louis definitely has something to do with this!"
Fury blazed in his eyes as he spun around and stormed toward the cockpit.
"I’m going back right now to skin him alive!"
"Don’t be rash. Seville will handle the curse himself."
Night Abyss grabbed Ying Jiuyao’s arm.
"Don’t let Anan know."
Fei Zhao’s fiery red fox tail shot out, wrapping tightly around Ying Jiuyao’s waist.
"You stupid cat! Do you want her to storm a Mutant Beast lair all over again for that damn bird?!"
A cold light glinted in Lan Cangming’s ice-blue eyes, and his translucent ear fins flared open.
"We may not be able to help lift the curse, but we can take care of the Rebel Army."
"We’ll tear them out by the roots. Leave none of them alive."
Ying Jiuyao’s tiger tail slammed onto the ground, making the metal floor tremble.
"Then let’s start by prying open Louis’s mouth!"
He bared his fangs, his White Tiger markings glowing scarlet under the lights. "I’m going to peel off his skin and use it as a footrest!"
BANG!
A sudden impact sound came from the conference room door.
Night Abyss’s expression changed, and he flung the door open in a flash.
Su An’an stood in the doorway, her butterfly-like Wings trembling violently, casting a dappled, multicolored light across the hallway.
Ying Jiuyao’s tiger tail instantly bushed out, and his voice cracked.
"Anan? When did you get here?"
"From the moment you mentioned the ’King Blood Beast curse’."
Su An’an’s eyes were rimmed with red, but her voice was as cold as ice.
"So all this time, Seville has been avoiding me, saying cruel things to drive me away... it’s all because he’s been cursed?"
Night Abyss’s dragon tail went rigid. Under Su An’an’s icy stare, he slowly nodded. "Yes."
"That stupid bird!"
Su An’an spun around abruptly, pink Scale Powder sifting to the floor.
"How dare he hide this from me!"
Fei Zhao’s nine fox tails shot out like lightning to wrap around her wrist.
"Wait! It’s no use going to him now."
"Let go!"
A blinding pink light erupted from Su An’an’s butterfly-like Wings, knocking Fei Zhao three steps back.
Ying Jiuyao scrambled to block the doorway. "He’s avoiding you because he’s afraid you’ll do something reckless!"
"Don’t forget! The last time you broke Lan Cangming’s curse, you overexerted yourself so much your spiritual power nearly collapsed."
"Is this time any different?!"
Su An’an’s eyes were bloodshot.
"He got cursed by the King Blood Beast while protecting me! I can’t just abandon him!"
Lan Cangming asked calmly, "Do you know how to break it?"
"I don’t know!"
Su An’an clenched her fists, her nails digging deep into her palms.
"But it’s better than cowering here, watching him waste away into an empty husk!"
The words had barely left her lips when her butterfly-like wings flared open, kicking up a brilliant storm of pink Phosphorus Powder in the hallway.
Big Cat, Night Abyss, Fei Zhao, and Lan Cangming instinctively shielded their eyes.
When they opened them again, Su An’an was gone.
The metal door to the lounge slid open violently, crashing against the wall with a loud BANG.
Seville froze in front of the disposal unit, a bandage stained with golden blood slowly sliding into its opening.
"What are you doing here?"
Seville didn’t even look up, his Golden Wings held tight against his chest. "Or did you take a wrong turn?"
"An act! Keep up the act!"
Su An’an shattered the disposal unit’s switch with a single slap. The gust of wind from her butterfly-like Wings knocked over an entire row of medical supply chests.
"I know all about the curse!"
Seville’s amber pupils constricted. He cursed under his breath, "Night Abyss, that damned gossip!"
"Better than a tight-lipped stinking bird like you!"
Su An’an reached for the bandage on Seville’s wrist, but he caught her arm in a reverse grip.
"This has nothing to do with you. I can handle it myself."
Seville’s voice was like ice, and he radiated an unapproachable aura.
"Bleeding yourself to death? Is that your solution?!"
Su An’an forcibly ripped the golden-blood-soaked bandage from his wrist, revealing a gruesome wound so deep she could see bone.
"What else am I supposed to do?"
Seville yanked his hand back, and the golden blood splattered on the floor, blooming like enchanting, sinister flowers.
"Let you slit your wrists and feed it your blood? Or cut open your chest and dig out your Divine Power for it?"
"I’m willing to! So what?!"
Su An’an pressed her hand against Seville’s heaving chest.
She gritted her teeth. "What gives you the right to decide for me?"
The motion-sensor lights flickered, illuminating Seville’s pale face.
All strength suddenly left him, and his back slammed against the bulkhead. His voice trembled uncontrollably.
"But I’m not willing. I’d rather you hate me."
"Well, I refuse!"
With a sudden exertion of her fingertips, Su An’an ripped open Seville’s blood-stained collar.
"Let me see the curse."
Black markings writhed frantically beneath his pale skin, like a nest of vipers that had caught the scent of blood.
"Let go!"
Seville gripped her wrist tightly, fear churning in his amber eyes.
"Don’t touch it!"
"Scared?"
Instead of backing down, Su An’an pressed forward, a pink-gold light suddenly blooming from her palm.
Her Divine Power washed over his skin like a warm tide.
"Or are you just afraid I’ll see that you’re simply waiting to die?"
The black markings suddenly flared, clinging to her like a sickness in the bone as they shot up her arm!
Seville’s pupils constricted, and a cry of horrified fury ripped from his throat. "No!"
"Let go!"
Ying Jiuyao’s tiger claw tore through the air, precisely smacking Su An’an’s hand away.
WHOOSH! Fei Zhao’s Fox Fire ignited, and his nine tails wove into a fiery net that enveloped Su An’an’s arm, forcing back the black markings. "You stupid bird! Are you trying to get her killed?!"
Lan Cangming’s ice mist instantly froze the remaining Curse Patterns, his translucent ear fins quivering with residual fear.
His fingertips brushed over Su An’an’s reddened wrist.
"Are you hurt?"
Night Abyss’s dragon tail coiled around Su An’an, pulling her into his embrace. His Dragon Scales bristled in fury, pressing against Seville’s throat.
"If you dare let her face the slightest danger again, I’ll rip off those useless wings of yours."
But Su An’an violently broke free of Night Abyss’s embrace. The wind from her butterfly-like Wings sent the four Beast Husbands staggering back.
She stared intently at the black markings on Seville’s chest, her eyes so red they looked ready to drip blood.
"You knew all along that this thing would drain my Divine Power, didn’t you?"
Seville turned his face away, his Golden Wings failing to hide his trembling fingertips. "Yes."
"So you intentionally ignored me and said those cruel things because you were afraid I would touch you?"
Su An’an advanced on him step by step, her butterfly-like Wings brushing against his Golden Wings.
"Seville, what do you take me for?"
Seville’s head snapped up, his amber eyes churning with pain and conflict.
"Anything but a fool rushing to her death!"
He suddenly grabbed her shoulders and shoved her away. "Get out! And never come back!"
"I refuse to leave!" Su An’an seized his collar, rising on her toes to press a searing kiss to his pale lips.
"I am going to break your curse. It’s decided."
