Chapter 2570 - 2569: Needs
Everyone in the grand hall was momentarily taken aback.
Ling Feng originally held no status in the Li Dynasty; now he is merely the Consort Prince to the Princess, which isn’t particularly high in rank.
Yet Li Huang directly bestowed a dukedom upon him, acknowledging Ling Feng’s merits and granting him a prestigious position, second only to one.
However, the Marshal title not only puzzled the ministers but also left Ling Feng somewhat bewildered.
According to Li Dynasty’s customs, questioning such decisions in the assembly was improper and disrespectful to royal authority.
Therefore, Ling Feng could only thank them without making any inquiries.
The court officials then enthusiastically congratulated Ling Feng, envying his sudden acquisition of two highest honors in the Li Dynasty.
At this moment, Li Huang said, "The original Marshal of the troops was Li Gang, now replaced by Ling Feng, and I imagine everyone is quite puzzled by this, am I right?"
The ministers looked at one another but remained silent.
Li Huang chuckled, "No need for doubt; Li Gang is quite aged and can’t keep up with the current fast-changing scenarios. I’ve entrusted the Li Dynasty’s forces to Ling Feng to manage, anticipating the rapid developments ahead!"
"Your Majesty, about the border..." one minister stood up to ask.
"I understand. This matter will be addressed with my nephew once he returns," Li Huang responded.
"I understand!"
The minister stepped back.
Ling Feng, upon hearing this, roughly understood what was happening.
He had previously heard from Ling Baoguo in Shiliu Village that within the Li Dynasty, the highest accolades and positions were always held by those stationed at the border. Now, with his sudden appointment as Marshal, it was inevitable that some might feel disgruntled.
This issue definitely needed addressing.
After the ministers dispersed, there were only a few people left in the grand hall.
After sending the servants away, Li Chunxi quickly asked, "Father, why did you make Ling Feng Marshal? He doesn’t have that much time!"
"What? Just one night, and you’re already siding with others?" Li Huang asked with a smile.
This remark made Li Chunxi blush deeply, then she pouted: "I am not!"
"Clearly, you are!"
Li Huang smiled, then said, "However, daughters are destined to leave their families; I anticipated this. Don’t be concerned, I don’t intend to bind Ling Feng to the Li Dynasty!"
He glanced at Ling Feng: "I only hope that when you have time, you can offer some guidance to our army, and that would be sufficient!"
Ling Feng understood his intention, nodded, and said, "Alright, later I’ll gather some military experts to provide training on discipline and tactics to our Generals."
That’s exactly what Li Huang wanted, so he nodded: "Excellent, now I can be at ease!"
After a few more exchanges, Li Huang said, "Alright, you two newlyweds, I won’t occupy your time, go on then!"
"Okay."
Ling Feng and Li Chunxi bowed and left the grand hall together.
Once outside, Ling Feng asked her, "How do you want to plan next?"
"I’ll follow your lead!"
With no one around, Li Chunxi clung to Ling Feng’s arm affectionately.
Ling Feng smiled: "You’re a princess, I should listen to you instead!"
"Stop it!"
Li Chunxi glared at him, then pondered seriously: "Should we rather head to Antarctica? I want to see how Xiangxue’s arrangements are going!"
Ling Feng looked at her in surprise: "You care this much about Xiangxue’s affairs?"
"Yes, why?" Li Chunxi asked.
"No reason, it’s just surprising." Ling Feng laughed.
"She’s my only female friend; I normally don’t have any close friends!" Li Chunxi said.
"Now I understand."
Ling Feng nodded, then continued: "But it’s only the first day after the wedding, and you plan to help Xiangxue already?"
"We might not even be much help! I just want to check things out in case she’s settled her tribe and is waiting for us to take her back to the Arctic," Li Chunxi said, tilting her head.
"That makes sense."
Ling Feng nodded: "Alright then, let’s head to Antarctica; we’ll consider this trip our honeymoon!"
"What’s a honeymoon?"
Li Chunxi’s curiosity prompted her to ask quickly.
Ling Feng explained with a smile, to which she responded with a pout: "Oh, it’s a foreign custom? I’m not interested!"
"Regardless of the custom’s origin, liking it is all that matters," Ling Feng chuckled.
After returning to their sleeping quarters, they packed a few things and promptly boarded a spaceship.
The day’s schedule ideally involved moving into a residence in the Capital City, as the princess is expected to not reside in the Imperial Palace once married. Yet, neither Ling Feng nor she cared much about this, so they skipped it altogether.
To them, the location of home wasn’t important, especially since Ling Feng wasn’t planning on long-term residence in the Capital City; if he became too busy, Li Chunxi might as well stay in the Imperial Palace.
The spaceship quickly reached the skies over Antarctica, after which they followed a path underground to Xiangxue and her tribe’s location.
The place had transformed significantly since before, with numerous dense, low-built structures.
Due to the use of readily available materials, the houses couldn’t be built like tall buildings outside, or even like basic adobe houses, but had to stick to former ways of habitation.
Actually, this is merely temporary; once resources are replenished, the living conditions of these people will improve promptly.
Xiangxue evidently hadn’t expected Ling Feng and Li Chunxi to arrive so soon, and greeted them with surprise: "If I recall correctly, today is your wedding day, right?"
"Yes, bored at home, so we decided to visit you!"
Li Chunxi said, soon asking: "By the way, is your arrangement almost done? Ready to return to the Arctic?"
"Not in a rush."
Xiangxue shook her head: "We’ve solved the housing issue for many people, but food remains a problem; I need to store some food for them!"
Ling Feng smiled: "No need to worry, I’ll handle it!"
He began retrieving supplies from his Space Ring.
After doing so for a bit, Xiangxue, recovering from her surprise, quickly said, "Stop, we can’t leave them here!"
"True!"
Ling Feng nodded, then asked, "There’s no warehouse setup yet, right?"
"Not yet; everyone just settled in, lacking quite a few things still," Xiangxue said.
"Alright, I’ll first see how much usable stuff I have to cover the urgent needs, then I’ll return for more. My last visit was rushed, didn’t anticipate this."
Ling Feng said, and then they headed toward the city, looking for a spacious area to unload.
