Chapter 696 What is this place?
After walking another ten or so meters, the light on the other side became stronger, and they could clearly see the surroundings without the flashlight.
So, Ling Feng turned off the flashlight and put it back inside the Ring.
When they arrived at the cave entrance and the outdoor light streamed in, confirming it was sunlight, the two immediately rushed out!
However, once they reached the entrance and looked outside, Ling Feng and An Xue were both stunned!
In front of them was a platform of about ten square meters, below was a mountain cliff over twenty meters high, and from their position, they could see a huge valley ahead!
On both sides were steep cliffs that looked as though they had been cut by a knife, and the valley in between was filled with dense woods stretching out for tens of miles!
Ling Feng and An Xue looked at each other in bewilderment, both their minds a blank.
"Let’s sit down first and discuss what to do," one said.
Ling Feng pulled An Xue down to sit on the ground, frowning as he gazed at the forest in front of them.
"Could this be another realm?" An Xue asked.
"No, if that were the case, Ling Yao would definitely sense it. She would know we are here," Ling Feng shook his head.
"Oh..."
An Xue’s face was a picture of confusion, suddenly at a loss for words.
Ling Feng pondered for a moment, then turned to look at her: "The problem must be with that seaweed. There might have been something inside it that brought us here!"
"Then, what place is this?" An Xue inquired.
"I’m not sure either. We don’t know the situation in this valley; we’ll find out once we explore it later."
Ling Feng spoke and reached toward his waist.
Then his eyes widened, and he blurted out an expletive!
"What’s wrong?"
An Xue almost stood up in alarm, asking with a panicked expression.
"My God Slayer Saber is gone!" Ling Feng declared in shock.
An Xue: "..."
"Could it be that during the teleportation, your saber slipped from your hand and wasn’t brought over?" An Xue asked pensively after a moment.
Ling Feng gave a bitter smile, "If that’s the case, it would still be okay. What I’m really afraid of is that our arrival here wasn’t by chance, and that the God Slayer Saber has already been taken by someone!"
"Then..."
An Xue, herself an ordinary person besides being exceptionally good with water, didn’t know what to say or suggest anything helpful.
"It’s okay, the God Slayer Saber won’t be lost so easily; I will find it. Right now, without a proper weapon, I’ll just have to make do with something else!"
Ling Feng said calmly, looking down at the valley below his feet.
Afterward, he glanced around and noticed that the cave was perched upon a cliff, with only an extremely narrow path leading downward, seemingly disappearing into the woods below.
He then turned to An Xue, "You are dressed too lightly and you have no shoes. Just wait here for me."
"But..."
An Xue was a bit nervous, her reliance on Ling Feng made her unwilling to part with him, and she subconsciously hugged his arm, "Then be careful, what if there are monsters down there?"
"Even if there are, it’s not a problem. If things go well, we’ll even have some food!" Ling Feng said optimistically.
At this, An Xue suddenly felt a little hungry, so she nodded awkwardly, "Okay, then I’ll wait for you to come back!"
"Good, just sit here, I’ll be back as soon as I can!"
After saying this, Ling Feng got up, walked down from the platform, and followed the narrow path downward!
This path wasn’t naturally formed; one could see the traces of human chiseling.
The traces were already very old, likely having a history of at least a few hundred years.
Moreover, as Ling Feng walked by, the dust on the road was stirred up, leaving behind footprints, which made him realize that it had been a long time since anyone had been here.
Therefore, even if there were people in the valley, no one would come to this place, and An Xue was still very safe.
Ling Feng did not plan to go far; he would first look around the nearby area before deciding what to do!
As he continued downwards, he quickly arrived at the edge of the forest and with a leap, he reached the edge of the woods.
The trees here were all unfamiliar to him, looking like they were tropical varieties with their broad, verdant leaves.
Ling Feng had no interest in these things; he was looking for things that were edible or usable!
So, he stepped into the forest and after just a few steps, he saw a tree about one or two meters tall, with green fruits hanging from it!
"Is this... a banana?"
Upon seeing it, Ling Feng was bewildered.
He then realized, whether or not this place was part of the Earth’s space, it was definitely tropical!
"With this, I won’t have to go hungry!"
Ling Feng muttered to himself and immediately rushed over, punching the tree trunk!
The banana tree was naturally soft, and his punch was extremely powerful; with this one hit, the banana tree immediately let out a creaking sound before toppling over!
Ling Feng twisted off a large bunch of bananas with his hands, weighing them and finding them to be seventy to eighty pounds. He thought that even if he couldn’t find food, just eating these would fend off hunger.
After putting the bananas into the Ring, he stepped forward and continued deeper into the forest.
The deeper he went, the more he discovered that this was a typical tropical rainforest, all the plants had wide branches and large leaves.
A few more steps in, a sweet fragrance hit his nose and Ling Feng stopped walking, looking around, only to discover among the shrubs a few pale yellow flashes; coming closer, he realized they were pineapples!
"Damn, have I come to a fruit garden?"
While Ling Feng was pleasantly surprised, he couldn’t help but make a sarcastic remark.
He twisted off the pineapples and stored them, thinking that now he had enough vitamins and what remained was figuring out a way to get some meat!
The rainforest certainly didn’t lack animals, he just hadn’t discovered any yet.
With bananas and pineapples as a base, Ling Feng was in a great mood and didn’t rush to search any longer, leisurely roaming in the jungle.
"Eh, what’s that?"
There was a tree ahead, much taller than the surrounding trees, at least a dozen meters tall!
Looking up, he saw several green objects hanging below the canopy; Xu Fan looked closely, and immediately realized what they were—coconuts!
"This is good stuff too!"
Ling Feng briskly approached and, too lazy to climb, he began to punch!
The coconut tree was much sturdier than the banana tree, and after four or five punches, the trunk finally cracked open, then with a reluctant creaking, fell over!
After collecting four or five coconuts, Ling Feng was satisfied, thinking that An Xue might be hungry by now, he decided to go back first and take her something to eat!
So, he turned around, left the forest, and followed the path back to the platform.
An Xue was there hugging her knees, watching intently below, having seen Ling Feng returning a while ago.
As he approached, she lit up seeing him produce pineapples, bananas, and coconuts as if by magic.
What girl doesn’t like eating fruit?
Especially when they are her favorites and she was feeling hungry!
Ling Feng rummaged through the Ring a bit and took out a fruit knife, "Unfortunately, this is all I have, but it’s better than nothing. What do you want to eat? I’ll cut it for you!"
"I want to eat pineapple!"
An Xue felt an endearing sweetness, completely forgetting the predicament of them being trapped in that place.
