Chapter 435: Start Excavating
"You didn’t mention it, and I almost forgot about this matter!"
Ling Feng scratched his head, There had been quite a few things on his plate these past couple of days, and he had practically forgotten the more important tasks.
But seeing that he was about to head to Shahe Village, this matter would have to be delayed for a few more days, so he could only give a wry smile and say, "Let’s wait until we’re done with Chu Nan’s stuff, and then we can find some time to properly look into it!"
"You’d better hurry up, Having a teleportation array will make things much more convenient in the future!" Lin Xue nodded.
That night, everyone entered the Nine Heavens again, and Ling Feng and Xun Qianqian, along with Wang Cai and the rest, entered the Third Layer once more, expanding their search area.
By the next morning, Ling Feng already had five types of alchemy materials piled up like five small mountains on the grass outside the Nine Heavens.
Unfortunately, the formula still hadn’t appeared.
However, these materials were not seen in the outside world, and their special shapes and colors made them quite unique, they were temporarily used as decorations by everyone.
After breakfast, Ling Feng drove Lin Xue back to the police station, then he took Li Fei’er with him to Shahe Village.
By the time he arrived, the village was already bustling with activity.
Because Chu Nan and his people had already arrived.
Zhang Jinhua and Gu Er’s sister’s doorsteps were packed with several cars, including trucks, sedans, and a large SUV.
Ling Feng felt confused, scratching his head as he walked into the courtyard of Gu Er’s sister’s house, just as Chu Nan came out from one of the side rooms. Upon seeing him, Chu Nan couldn’t help but complain, "You little rascal, managed to reserve the best room first!"
"Can’t help it, brought a tag-along, got to live in a bit of comfort, right?" Ling Feng chuckled.
Chu Nan had met Li Fei’er before and was a bit surprised to see her there too, but he didn’t say much, merely nodded, "It’s fine, this old man isn’t so delicate. As long as I can sleep, I’m good, won’t compete with you!"
"That’s the best."
Ling Feng chuckled and said to Li Fei’er, "Go sort out the stuff, we’ll be staying in that room!"
"Okay!"
Li Fei’er, full of cheer, picked up her belongings and ran into the room.
Chu Nan winked at Ling Feng, "Come to my room for a chat?"
"Sure, I was thinking the same thing!"
Ling Feng nodded, and they headed into another side room together, one after another.
As soon as he entered, the sight of an air conditioner, refrigerator, and the rosewood tables and chairs made him immediately widen his eyes in shock!
"Damn! Did you move your entire house here?"
"Not at all, it’s just for a temporary stay, for convenience only!"
Chu Nan smiled smugly and took a seat casually.
Ling Feng rolled his eyes. Compared to these amenities, snagging a slightly better room meant nothing at all!
This was definitely more comfortable!
After sitting down, Ling Feng couldn’t help but laugh when he saw the worried look between Chu Nan’s brows, "What? Still upset that your treasures might be taken away by the state?"
"There are such concerns, but more importantly, what about that Zhang Song you mentioned? He’s been lurking in town for quite a while, could it be for something here?" Chu Nan asked as he picked up his teacup.
"I don’t think so."
Ling Feng shook his head, "He must have other motives. Unfortunately, Director Chen didn’t tell me anything. If it was really about this place, their organization would have excavated it long ago, so why wait for you?"
"So he just sensed something unusual about this place and decided to keep an eye on it covertly?" Chu Nan asked.
"Exactly, that’s the case!" Ling Feng nodded.
"What kind of organization is this, that even the Chu Family hasn’t heard of it?" Chu Nan leaned back in his chair, murmuring to himself with a touch of vexation.
Ling Feng chuckled. He also wanted to know the answer to that question, unfortunately, Chen Ping hadn’t managed to get much information out of Zhang Song’s mouth; the main issue was that this fellow was just a minor character who knew very little about the matters of those above him.
"Let’s not talk about that. Where exactly did you find out that there are treasures in Shahe Village?" Ling Feng asked.
Chu Nan glanced at him and leisurely took a sip of tea, "From an ancient book!"
"Didn’t that book mention what kind of things that predecessor left behind?" Ling Feng asked out of curiosity.
"No, why do you ask?" Chu Nan said.
Ling Feng shook his head, "Nothing much, just curious. If we dig up nothing, or just end up finding that person’s body, it would mean all our efforts were in vain!"
Upon hearing this, Chu Nan gave him a look of disdain, "You’re such a pessimist. Even if it’s a loss, it’s my loss. You’re just wasting a bit of time, what’s so great about that?"
"Time is money, isn’t it?"
Ling Feng gave him a disgruntled glance in response.
"How much? I’ll compensate you, would that satisfy you?" Chu Nan retorted irritably.
An older and a younger man were squabbling when someone knocked on the door: "Clan Leader, the machinery is all in place!"
"Good, we’re coming!"
Chu Nan said this, stood up, and addressed Ling Feng, "We’re about to start the work, let’s go!"
"The sooner we dig it out, the better!"
Ling Feng nodded and stood up.
After they went outside and took a look next door, they saw Li Fei’er had already tidied up and was rolling around on the heated brick bed. Ling Feng couldn’t help but laugh, "You sure adapt quickly. Let’s go, we’re heading up the mountain to have a look!"
"Sure!"
Li Fei’er sprang up in a swoosh, landing gracefully on the ground.
Ling Feng was taken aback for a moment and then chuckled, "Well done, you’ve made some progress recently!"
"Of course. Eating the food from the Nine Heavens every day, I feel like I’m about to break through to Dark Energy!" Li Fei’er said proudly, tilting her little chin up!
"Really? I’ll help you check it out later when we have time!"
Misunderstanding his intention, Li Fei’er’s face turned red, "Okay, how about tonight then!"
Ling Feng smirked but said nothing more, and took her out the door. Seeing that Chu Nan had already boarded an SUV, he curiously asked, "I thought we were going up the mountain, why do we need to take the car?"
"Of course. Do you think we should just stand in the cold wind?" Chu Nan gave him a look.
Ling Feng was at a loss for words, and taking Li Fei’er with him, got into the car. Seeing the luxurious interior, he couldn’t help but exclaim, "It must be nice to be rich, such luxury!"
Chu Nan snickered, "Like it? Once we finish, I’ll give you the car!"
"Nah, I can’t afford to keep such a car!" Ling Feng laughed and outright refused.
The car might be excellent, but its practicality was quite low; it was not as convenient as a robust vehicle.
As they conversed, the vehicle started up and stopped by a forest at the foot of the mountain just outside of Shahe Village.
Not far ahead was a small hillock, where several excavators were already lined up and ready, and a row of more than a dozen dump trucks awaited the dug-up soil that could be hauled away immediately.
Seeing the preparations, Ling Feng couldn’t help but ask, "Are you planning to dig out the entire hillside?"
Chu Nan nodded, "Pretty much, until we find the thing!"
Ling Feng looked over the terrain, glanced around, and then asked, "After all the digging, do you really plan to build a pig farm here?"
"Whether I build it or not, what do you imply?" Chu Nan said.
