"Uh..." Yan Can faltered.

"I was just kidding. Don’t take it the wrong way."

"No worries. You have a great sense of humor. I like your style."

Yan Can said, "My family owns a supermarket chain here in Jiangcheng. Meiyijia, you know it? That’s us."

"Why don’t we be friends? We could hang out sometime in the future."

"Sure. And hey, while you’re at it, hook me up with a VIP card for your supermarket. That way, I can get a discount next time I shop there."

’Xu Yun was all too familiar with the Meiyijia supermarket. Back when he was broke, he loved shopping there because everything was so cheap.’

’The chain was a pretty big deal in Jiangcheng, with total assets estimated to be in the hundreds of millions.’

’Who would’ve thought he’d run into the owner’s son today.’

"A discount?"

Yan Can said confidently, "I’ll get you one of our internal executive discount cards. It’s a flat 50% off everything."

"Awesome, thanks."

’Even though it was their first time meeting, Xu Yun could already tell what kind of person he was—a classic, naive rich kid. The straightforward type, without a shred of cunning.’

’His parents were right to forbid him from starting his own business.’

"Bro."

Yan Can pulled Xu Yun aside and whispered, "So, what kind of business are you in? Mind if I get in on the action?"

"Uh, I’m in the media industry. Right now, I’m mainly focused on social media content and investing in things like short dramas."

Xu Yun paused for a second, then asked, a little confused, "But I thought your parents won’t let you start a business? You’re still trying to?"

"They just said I couldn’t *start* a business. They never said I couldn’t *invest*."

Yan Can added, "If I invest my own money on the quiet, there’s nothing they can say."

"We just met today. You trust me already?"

"I’m the kind of guy who trusts his gut and first impressions."

Yan Can grinned. "I trust you, and I trust my own judgment!"

’Jeez, is it really that easy?’

Xu Yun feigned hesitation for a moment, then said, "Okay, then. The next time a good project comes along, I’ll let you know."

"Thanks, man."

The two exchanged WeChat info.

Yan Can glanced at Yu Xuan beside him and said meaningfully, "You sure have good luck with women. Anyway, I won’t disturb you. You go be HAPPY. See you at dinner tonight."

Xu Yun was left speechless.

After that short interlude, Xu Yun and Yu Xuan headed outside the hotel.

The area was filled with various activities, all with a traditional Chinese feel. There was a tea master at a stall, brewing tea for everyone to taste; an artist offering to paint free portraits on the spot; and a guzheng player performing off to the side...

Xu Yun led Yu Xuan over to the artist and had a portrait of the two of them painted.

It came out looking great; the likeness was incredibly accurate.

"Brother Xu."

Song Xiaowei approached from a short distance away, calling out cheerfully, "What a coincidence! I can’t believe I ran into you here."

"Song Xiaowei?"

Xu Yun pretended to be surprised. "What are you doing here, too?"

"I was here to host one of the activities."

Song Xiaowei called him out with a laugh. "Oh, stop pretending, Brother Xu. There’s no way you didn’t see me inside earlier."

"Haha..."

Xu Yun said, "I was just afraid it would be awkward for you. After all, you still owe me money."

"Uh..."

At his words, Song Xiaowei’s face flushed with embarrassment. "It’s probably going to be a little while before I can pay you back," she said.

"There’s no hurry. I was just teasing you. I wasn’t actually trying to collect."

Then, Xu Yun asked out of curiosity, "So, how have you been doing at the company?"

"I’ve already resigned. I left just a few days after you did and found a new company. It’s been okay so far, I guess."

Song Xiaowei then said, "Oh, right, Brother Xu, I heard you started your own company. Are you hiring? I’d love to come work for you."

"Sure."

Xu Yun replied, "But my company hasn’t officially launched yet. Wait a few days. When we’re up and running, just go find Su Mu—our former Manager Su—and talk to her."

"Okay."

Song Xiaowei didn’t know anyone else at the event, so seeing a familiar face made her instantly more at ease. She felt a sense of security just by standing next to him.

She glanced at Yu Xuan by Xu Yun’s side, then hesitated before asking, "Are you guys going to walk around? Mind if I tag along?"

"Sure, no problem."

Xu Yun smiled. "Of course. The more, the merrier."

Song Xiaowei relaxed when she saw that Yu Xuan didn’t seem bothered by her joining them.

’At the same time, a question arose in her mind.’

’Wasn’t Xu Yun with Manager Su? How could he have a new girlfriend already?’

’But that was a question she couldn’t ask out loud.’

And so, Xu Yun continued to explore the island, admiring the scenery with two beautiful women in tow.

Meanwhile, Qiao Yuanshan and Su Mu were also wandering about the island.

However, Su Mu wasn’t admiring the scenery. She was looking for Xu Yun.

Qiao Yuanshan, walking beside her, noticed her distraction. "Is something on your mind, Miss Su?" he asked.

"No."

Su Mu retracted her wandering gaze and said, "I’m just a bit tired from walking. How about we take a break?"

"Good idea. There’s a pavilion just ahead. We can go sit down over there."

Once they reached the pavilion, Qiao Yuanshan started chatting with Su Mu. He mostly talked about his own startup story, recounting how hard it was and how many difficulties he’d overcome to reach his current level of success.

He was hoping to improve her impression of him.

Little did he know, his words were going in one ear and out the other. She was completely preoccupied, wondering where Xu Yun had taken Yu Xuan and why she hadn’t managed to find them after searching for so long.

Just as she decided to give up and head back to the hotel to wait for him, she spotted Xu Yun walking in their direction from not too far away, with both Yu Xuan and Song Xiaowei.

Upon seeing them, a smile instantly brightened Su Mu’s eyes.
