"Hello, Sister Su." Chen Xin followed Xu Yun’s lead and greeted her politely.

Su Mu smiled. "Hello."

"Do you two have something to talk about?"

Chen Xin said, "You two can chat. I’ll go to my room and unpack my luggage."

Su Mu watched Chen Xin head to the bedroom and smiled. "Your blind date is very considerate. You were out with her for a few days. Any sparks?"

"Sis, don’t read too much into it."

Xu Yun explained, "It was just a normal trip. Nothing happened."

"Why are you so tense? I didn’t say you did anything."

Su Mu shot him a look. "So nothing happened with her. What about that President Liang?"

"Uh, she came looking for you?"

"She did. And the first thing she did was use your name to pressure me."

Su Mu said pointedly, her words laced with double meaning, "What, does she have you by the short hairs? Five million, just like that. You’re so generous."

"It’s not like that."

Xu Yun gave an awkward laugh. "I just thought her proposal sounded pretty solid, so I introduced her to you. Whether we invest or not is still your call."

"Oh, I wouldn’t dare."

Su Mu smiled. "It’s your company, after all, and your money. Since you’ve already given the nod, how could I dare to refuse? If I did, a certain someone might get upset."

"So does that mean you’re in favor of investing?" Xu Yun asked.

"Yes. Business is business. I may not like the woman, but I agree that her project has market potential and a future. It’s worth a shot."

Su Mu asked, "About this, are you going to call her yourself? Or should I?"

"You should do it."

"Are you sure you don’t want to do it?"

Su Mu offered a "helpful" reminder, "If you’re the one to tell her, she might ’thank’ you in... other ways."

"Shut it! I’m a decent man!"

"Pfft!"

Su Mu shot him a flustered, angry glare, then said, "Come over to my place for dinner tonight. Bring Chen Xin. Consider it me doing my part as the host and welcoming her."

"Sounds like a plan."

Xu Yun grinned. "We’ve been eating out at restaurants every day on this trip. It’s been way too long since I’ve had your cooking."

"I was starting to think you didn’t like it anymore and had no intention of coming back."

"Not at all. I’ve missed you so much... your cooking, that is."

Xu Yun sighed. "But what could I do? It was a setup from my mom. I had to go with her."

"Alright, I’m heading out to buy groceries. Do you want to come?"

"I think I’ll pass."

Xu Yun said, "I’ll have Chen Xin go with you. It’ll be a good chance for you two to get to know each other. She has a bit of social anxiety, so this might help avoid any awkwardness at dinner."

"Okay."

Xu Yun called Chen Xin out, and she went with Su Mu to get groceries.

Alone at home, Xu Yun was about to watch some TV when he received a picture from Ning Qian.

Ning Qian: "I just bought this outfit. Is it pretty? [1 Image]"

’Is she really just showing me the clothes?’

Xu Yun knew exactly what her little game was.

’I’ve got nothing going on right now anyway,’ he thought. ’Why not take the chance to go see her?’

’I’ll give her a big surprise!’

Xu Yun replied, "It’s beautiful."

Then he headed out, got in his car, and drove toward Ning Qian’s place.

Ning Qian had no idea that Xu Yun, his interest piqued, was already on his way over.

She was very pleased to see Xu Yun’s compliment.

After chatting with Xu Yun, she stripped naked and went into the bathroom.

For the past few days, at Li Jinshu’s request, she had been helping supervise the company’s renovation site.

Covered in dust after just getting home from the construction site, she planned to take a shower first before making dinner.

Even though she had money now, she still preferred cooking at home, using the time to experiment with new dishes to make for Xu Yun when he returned.

Ten-odd minutes later, while Ning Qian was still in the shower, Xu Yun appeared inside her apartment.

Hearing the sound of water from the bathroom, he knew what she was doing. He tiptoed over and gently pushed open the unlocked door.

Then he casually closed it behind him.

Ning Qian was standing under the showerhead, her back to the door, talking to Li Jinshu on the phone about renovation materials.

She was completely oblivious to the noise and didn’t notice someone had come in behind her.

Xu Yun smiled and suddenly wrapped his arms around her from behind.

"Ah—!"

Startled, Ning Qian dropped her phone on the floor.

She was just about to scream for help when she heard Xu Yun’s familiar voice in her ear.

"Don’t move. It’s me."

"How are you back?"

The moment Ning Qian heard it was Xu Yun, she was pleasantly surprised. Her tense body immediately relaxed, and she went limp in his arms.

"Ning Qian, are you okay? What happened?"

From the phone on the floor, Li Jinshu’s concerned voice asked after hearing Ning Qian’s cry of alarm.

"Ah? It’s nothing."

Ning Qian explained hastily, blushing, "I was just showering and slipped."

"Is it serious?"

"No."

"Oh, good."

Li Jinshu said, "Well, you finish your shower. We can talk after you’re done."

The call ended. Ning Qian was about to bend down and pick up her phone, but Xu Yun scooped her up and carried her under the shower spray.

"Xu Yun, my phone—"

"It’s fine. It’s waterproof. We’ll get it later."

Ning Qian was speechless.

’It’s not like you’ll be done in a few minutes. Even if it’s waterproof, it can’t sit in water for an hour!’

But since Xu Yun had spoken, she could only give up.

He might have been in a hurry, but when it came to moments like this, his body had a mind of its own.

By the time the two of them emerged from the bathroom, two hours had passed.

The phone that had fallen on the floor was finally picked up.

Ning Qian checked it and was surprised to see it still worked. It was really fine!

Back in the living room, Xu Yun picked up his own phone and saw, as expected, several missed calls from both Su Mu and Chen Xin.

He made a "shh" gesture to Ning Qian, who was still in his arms, and called Su Mu back.
