My Magical Girl System

Chapter 266: Lucifer

The night had settled over the apartment like a familiar blanket. Inside, the team had finished their reward session and their showers.

Andrey sat in his usual armchair, a towel draped over his shoulders, his hair still slightly damp. The holographic interface of the system shop flickered in front of him, its soft pink light illuminating his face as he scrolled through the available items.

He had just dismissed the shop interface when a shimmer of violet light coalesced in the center of the room. Morgana materialized, her form solidifying with graceful ease. Her red eyes were sharp, focused, and she moved with a quiet urgency that made Andrey set down the interface.

She knelt before him, her head bowed, her voice low and steady.

"Master, I have new information about Kane."

Andrey leaned forward, his gaze sharpening. "What did you find?"

Morgana lifted her head, her red eyes meeting his. "I’ve confirmed it. Kane is planning an attack on the Gavaland Guild’s artifact storage facility. They recently secured a new artifact, and he intends to steal it. The attack is scheduled for tomorrow night."

Andrey’s expression remained calm, but his mind was already racing. "How reliable is this information?"

Morgana’s voice was steady. "It came from two separate sources within the demon network. The details align. I’ve also cross-referenced with a contact in the human underworld—Kane has been moving assets into position over the past week. Everything points to a coordinated strike on the storage facility."

Andrey was silent for a moment, his gaze fixed on the space between them. His fingers tapped a slow, steady rhythm against the armrest.

"Thank you, Morgana. This is exactly what we needed."

Morgana’s posture relaxed slightly, a faint, relieved smile crossing her face. "I live to serve, Master."

Andrey rose from his chair. "We need to move quickly. If Kane succeeds in stealing that artifact, it could be catastrophic."

Sein, who had been lounging on the couch with her eyes half-closed, watching some late-night action movie, didn’t even turn her head. "So we’re heading there tomorrow and catching him. Simple enough."

Lisa looked up from her phone, her brow furrowing slightly. "That would be a good opportunity to capture him. If we can take Kane alive, we might be able to get information about the demons’ plans, too."

Andrey nodded, his expression thoughtful. "It’s a solid plan. We’ll move tomorrow evening, before the attack is scheduled. We can set up an ambush and intercept him before he reaches the artifact."

He turned to Morgana, who had straightened from her kneeling position. "Is there anything else we should know about the facility or Kane’s approach?"

Morgana hesitated for just a moment, her red eyes flickering with something unreadable. "There is one more thing, Master. One of my contacts, a demon I’ve known for a long time, has expressed interest in meeting you."

Lisa’s eyes widened. "A demon? Can she be trusted?"

Sein finally turned her head, her voice flat and skeptical. "A demon who wants to meet us, and she just happens to be your friend? That’s suspicious."

Morgana met Sein’s gaze evenly. "I understand your concern. But I assure you, she is trustworthy. She’s been a close ally for years, and she has information that could be valuable."

Andrey was silent for a moment, his gaze steady. "Do you trust her?"

Morgana’s voice was firm. "With my life."

Andrey considered for a moment, then nodded. "Then I’ll meet her."

Morgana’s expression softened, a flicker of relief crossing her face. "Thank you, Master."

Sein leaned back on the couch, her arms crossed, her voice carrying a note of reluctant acceptance. "Yeah, I hope my suspicions are wrong."

Morgana met her gaze evenly, her red eyes calm and steady. "You have nothing to worry about. I don’t intend to do anything strange. My friend will meet us near the northern district."

Andrey’s brow furrowed slightly. "That’s the underworld district, isn’t it? Not exactly a safe place for a casual meeting."

Morgana nodded, her voice carrying a hint of acknowledgment. "You’re right. But my friend has been gathering information there, so she’s been staying in the area. It’s the most convenient location for her."

Andrey considered for a moment, then reached for his jacket. "Alright. Let’s go."

Sein pushed herself up from the couch, her voice sharp and direct. "If anything goes wrong, summon me. I’ll come."

Lisa’s voice was softer, but carried the same concern. "Please be careful, Andrey."

Andrey slipped his jacket on, his movements calm and deliberate. "I will."

Sarah emerged from the hallway, her hair still damp from the shower, a towel draped over her shoulders. She blinked, taking in the scene, her voice carrying a note of surprise. "It’s already late. Where are you guys going?"

Andrey glanced at her, his expression calm. "I’m stepping out for a bit to meet one of Morgana’s contacts. You all should get some rest tonight."

Sarah’s brow furrowed, but she didn’t press further. She just nodded, her voice carrying a hint of acceptance. "Alright. Just be careful out there."

Andrey gave her a short nod, then turned toward the door. His fingers curled around the cold metal handle, and then he pulled the door open

The cold night air hit Andrey’s face as he stepped out of the apartment building, the door clicking shut behind him. He walked toward the van, his footsteps steady on the pavement.

Morgana followed close behind, her form shimmering faintly as she maintained her human illusion. She slid into the passenger seat as Andrey started the engine, the van pulling smoothly onto the empty road.

The city lights blurred past as they drove, the streets growing darker as they moved toward the northern district. The silence between them was comfortable, but Andrey’s mind was already turning over the details of the meeting ahead.

After a few minutes, he spoke, his voice calm and measured. "When you were with the demons, did you ever have any problems? Anyone who suspected you?"

Morgana was quiet for a moment, her red eyes fixed on the road ahead. "No. I was careful. I kept my distance from the inner circles, never drew attention to myself. But there was one demon who made me uneasy. Someone I always avoided."

Andrey glanced at her. "Who?"

Morgana’s voice dropped, carrying a weight of old wariness. "Lucifer. He’s the highest-ranking demon in the Crimson Legion."
