My Magical Girl System

Chapter 265: Tidebreaker Sword

The shattered core dissolved into fragments of light, and the chamber fell silent. The water around them grew still, the oppressive pressure lifting as the gate’s energy began to stabilize.

A holographic screen materialized in front of each of them, glowing with a soft, pink light.

The pink light of the system screens slowly faded, leaving only the faint bioluminescent glow of the chamber’s remaining coral.

Andrey moved first, his gaze sweeping the remnants of the Galvanic Lumen. The creature’s body had dissolved, but at the center of its fading form, a cluster of materials gleamed in the dim light—translucent membranes, shimmering tendrils, and a small, pulsating core that hummed with residual electrical energy.

He knelt, carefully collecting each piece. The membranes were cool and smooth, the tendrils still crackling with faint static, and the core pulsed with a steady, rhythmic light.

System: Materials acquired: Lumen Membrane (Rare), Galvanic Tendrils (Rare), Lumen Core (Rare). These materials can be used for crafting high-tier equipment and consumables.

Lisa’s voice came through the mana link, soft and curious. "Andrey, I see something—over there, near the edge of the chamber."

Andrey turned, following her gaze. A small, ornate chest sat nestled between two clusters of glowing coral, its surface etched with intricate patterns that pulsed with a faint, golden light.

He crossed the chamber, the water resistance lessening as he approached the chest. He knelt, his fingers tracing the edge of the lid, and lifted it slowly.

Inside, nestled on a bed of dark velvet, lay a single item: a long, elegant blade. Its surface was polished to a mirror shine, a faint, blue-green shimmer rippling across the metal like light on water. The hilt was wrapped in dark, water-resistant leather, and a small, pale blue gem was set into the pommel.

Andrey lifted the blade, its weight balanced and familiar. The moment his fingers closed around the hilt, a holographic screen flickered to life in front of him.

System: Item acquired: Tidebreaker – Rare Sword.

A finely crafted blade imbued with the essence of the Tide Shrine. Deals bonus water damage on impact and can channel ambient moisture to create brief, pressurized bursts of water with each strike.

Passive Effect: Tidal Edge – Basic attacks have a 15% chance to release a pressurized water burst, dealing bonus damage and pushing enemies back slightly.

Active Skill: Surging Strike – Unleash a concentrated wave of pressurized water that travels in a straight line, damaging and pushing back all enemies in its path. Cooldown: 45 seconds.

Andrey turned the blade over in his hands, a quiet sense of satisfaction settling in his chest. "This will be useful."

Sein peered over his shoulder, her gaze sharp. "Not bad. Fits the theme."

Sarah’s voice carried a hint of curiosity. "Can you use it with your daggers?"

Andrey’s gaze flicked to the blade, then back to the chest. "I can dual-wield it with one of the daggers if needed. I’ll have to practice the coordination."

Lisa smiled softly. "It suits you, Andrey."

Andrey secured the blade at his hip, the weight familiar and grounding. "We need to move. The Mermaid Pearls won’t last much longer."

The team turned toward the exit, the submerged passage stretching ahead. The water around them grew lighter as they ascended, the bioluminescent glow of the coral guiding their path.

They emerged from the water near the edge of the floating island, the surface rippling as they broke through. The sky was pale and luminous, the mist swirling around them like a living veil.

Andrey’s gaze swept the horizon. "The exit should be near the core’s remnants. Let’s move quickly."

They crossed the rocky island, the remnants of the gate’s core pulsing faintly in the distance. As they reached it, a shimmering portal flickered to life, its edges tinged with pale, golden light.

Andrey stepped through without hesitation, the light washing over him as he emerged back into the coastal checkpoint. The salt-tinged air greeted him, warm and familiar.

The team followed moments later, their clothes still damp, their hair clinging to their faces.

The young Association officer approached, her clipboard in hand. "You’re back! We were starting to get worried." Her gaze swept over them, taking in their wet clothes and weary expressions. "Is the gate cleared?"

Andrey nodded, his voice steady despite the exhaustion creeping into his bones. "The core has been destroyed. The gate should stabilize within the hour."

The officer let out a relieved breath, her shoulders relaxing. "Excellent. We’ll send a team to confirm and seal the remnants. Thank you for your work." She gestured toward a nearby tent. "We have some supplies—towels, water, and a change of clothes if you need them."

Sarah’s voice was dry, carrying a hint of relief. "Towels would be great."

The team made their way to the tent, accepting the towels and drying themselves off as best they could.

Sein wrung out her hair, a faint smirk playing on her lips. "Not bad for a water gate."

Lisa’s voice was soft, thoughtful. "It was beautiful, in a strange way."

Sarah’s voice carried a note of dry humor. "I’ll take your word for it. I spent most of the time clinging to Andrey’s back."

Sein’s grin widened. "And you did a great job of it, too."

Sarah’s cheeks flushed, but she didn’t bother arguing.

Andrey stood at the edge of the checkpoint, his gaze fixed on the horizon. He let out a slow, steadying breath.

"Let’s head back," he said, his voice calm and measured.

The team packed up and headed toward the van.
