The Lady's Butler: I Reincarnated To Serve The Villainess

Chapter 86: The World Fixes Itself [2]: Chaos In The Capital

BOOM!

Adrian, with a blank expression on his face, teleported away, just as something lunged at him.

The dust cloud created by the attack soon settled, revealing the creature responsible.

Just as he expected, it was a corrupted human, creatures that were crawling all around the capital.

Now, Adrian could just fly all the way to the royal palace with the wings created with his [Shadow Manipulation].

Problem was, the Royal Palace was at the center of the capital, and the academy was all the way at the northern end of the capital.

This meant that flying all the way there would barely leave him with enough mana to be useful if there truly was any danger.

So he decided on long range teleportations instead.

He trusted in his lady to hold on for a while, besides, her father and several other royal spirit mages were also present.

BOOM!

Another corrupted human lunged at him, but again, he managed to move out the way just in time.

"This is getting annoying," he muttered, extended his hand in the direction of the two Corrupted humans.

The next second, the shadows beneath their feet suddenly enlarged before detaching from the ground and wrapped around the two.

Without allowing them a chance to react, the shadows completely constricted around them, crushing them completely.

Adrian was about to move get moving again, when a very familiar voice suddenly caused him to stop.

"You!" The person said as they stopped just behind him.

Adrian turned around and just as he expected, the prince and his Saintess were standing there.

They had also left the academy around the same time he didn’t, but unlike him, they were out here for a reason Adrian could only describe as foolish.

Saving everyone.

As protagonists, they were wired to try putting themselves in danger for everyone else.

Adrian didn’t care if they did so or not, but he was more than certain that they stopped him for a single reason,

"Where the hell do you think you’re going, when people are dying?" Lucian asked with a frown on his face.

As much as he didn’t like this damn butler, he couldn’t deny that he was also one of the few strong enough to help them.

It was just that, he didn’t know how to approach, so he just ended up blurting out the first words that came to mind.

"...." Adrian silently looked at him for a second before sighing and turning back, planning to use another [Shadow Swap].

Again, he was stopped by a voice, but this time, it was Noelle’s instead of Lucian’s.

"U-um, the entire capital is in chaos right now," She started, "and it’ll take a while for the guards to respond, so we’d really appreciate if you could help us keep these people safe."

"Uninterested," Adrian simply replied without as much as a glance towards the two.

"Uninterested?"

Lucian’s brows furrowed, disbelief flashing across his face.

"What do you mean uninterested?" he demanded, taking a couple of steps towards him, "people are dying out here!"

"So?" Adrian coldly asked again, "none of them are my priority, so it makes no difference to me whether they die or not."

"Y-you—" Lucian didn’t get a chance to finish his words as Adrian interrupted.

"Speaking of which," he said, "are you sure you want to be wasting time trying to convince me?"

A moment after his words, an explosion went off behind them, causing the two to immediately turn around.

BOOM!

Dust and debris were sent flying towards them and Noelle instinctively raised a barrier, deflecting the incoming rubble.

"What the hell is that?" Lucian muttered as he looked at the dark aura rise to the sky.

Even Adrian had a frown on his face as he looked towards the direction of the explosion.

If that aura belonged to what he thought, then the timeline of the manhwa was now truly messed up.

That, was something that shouldn’t have shown up untill the later arcs, but since he had already removed the final boss of this arc, it seems the world had found a replacement.

One that even he wasn’t prepared to face this early and he was unsure of his victory if he did face it.

Fortunately, the thing’s aura seemed a lot weaker than shown in the manhwa , which meant that its creation was probably rushed.

So this world’s dear protagonists should be able to handle it, right?

After all, they were the chosen children of faith. With that reasoning, he turned around to leave.

"W-what are you doing?!" Noelle asked, her voice tense as she struggled to maintain her barrier.

"Leaving," he replied calmly.

Lucian’s eyes widened,"you can’t be serious! That thing is clearly—"

"Not my problem," Adrian interrupted and before anything else could be said, he disappeared, leaving the two to deal with that thing.

The shadow clone that took his place seemed to look around for a second before being dismissed, leaving the two in complete silence.

Well, relatively anyway, since the chaos was still ongoing.

"That damn butler," Lucian let out with a frown on his face before letting out a sigh and turned to the mass of corrupted energy.

"We’ll deal with him later," he said, turning back to Noelle, "for now, let’s deal with that thing first."

"Hmm," Noelle nodded as she finally let go of the wind barrier, the falling debris having slowed down.

Her amber eyes started glowing as the world around her seemed to gain more color. This was an ability known as [Spirit Sight], one that functioned similarly to Adrian’s glasses.

"T-this is," what she saw was even more dreadful, causing her pupils to tremble.

The spirits gathered all around were suddenly heading towards the corrupted aura and getting swallowed by it.

The moment they did, she couldn’t sense their presence anymore and it hurt her.

Noelle’s hand trembled slightly as she watched more spirits float towards the aura.

"They’re... being devoured," she whispered, her voice barely audible.

"What?" Lucian asked with a frown.

"The spirits," she said, her gaze locked onto the mass of corrupted energy in the distance, "they’re being pulled in and disappearing."

"I see," Lucian nodded before summoning a golden sword made of light, "then let’s take it down before it devours anymore."

His golden aura suddenly rose to the sky, catching the attention of the creature, and the next second, it launched itself towards their direction.
