Chapter 129 - 118: Four Ominous Lots
"Pan Feng... how dare you murder a fellow disciple! Do you think this is how you repay Master’s teachings?"
"Aren’t you afraid of the heavenly retribution for breaking your Dao oath!"
Ge Xiuyuan glared at the junior brother before him and rasped, using the very last of his strength.
"Ha. Heavenly retribution?"
Pan Feng sneered. "The Dao oath made by Pan Feng of the Celestial Mountain Four Symbols Sect... what does that have to do with me, Pan Qifeng of the Yunjiang Pan Family?"
"Let me tell you the truth, Ge Xiuyuan. I’m nothing like you, an unwanted stray. You were just picked up by that old fool Chen Hai. I wasn’t!"
"I have a family. I concealed my identity to join your Celestial Mountain Four Symbols Sect for one reason and one reason only: to obtain the Tiger Talisman inheritance."
"I didn’t originally plan to kill you. If you have to blame someone, blame that old fool Chen Hai for his blatant favoritism!"
Looking utterly crazed, Pan Qifeng yanked the longsword from Ge Xiuyuan’s chest. A torrent of blood gushed out.
Ge Xiuyuan’s face turned deathly pale.
"We both have a Three-attribute True Spirit Root! We’re both at the Foundation Establishment Seventh Level with an Earth Dao Foundation Establishment! So on what grounds do you get the Tiger Talisman inheritance, while I’m forced to trail behind you and march to my death in the Bone-Eroding Demon Sea?"
"Even that fool Guan Rubei is more favored by the old man than I am! It’s not fair!"
Ge Xiuyuan slowly shook his head, his life force nearly gone, his breath faint. "Pan Qifeng... you’ve betrayed our master and forsaken our sect. You will die a miserable death..."
"’A miserable death?’"
Pan Qifeng chuckled.
His True Essence flared. With a single slash, he beheaded a blood-colored centipede, then unhurriedly plucked out its dripping Inner Core.
"Once I leave this place and successfully establish my Purple Mansion, I’ll be a Purple Mansion Elder of the Celestial Mountain Four Symbols Sect. And you? You’ll just be a worthless piece of trash, undeserving of even a name on a tombstone."
"The world will only know that *I* was the one who survived the Foundation Establishment Chaos War, not you."
"Oh, and that childhood sweetheart you have waiting for you? I’ll be sure to take *very* good care of her for you. Hahaha!"
Pan Qifeng roared with laughter.
"You shameless bastard... I’ll drag you down with me!"
Bleeding profusely and with his Cultivation completely gone, Ge Xiuyuan experienced a final surge of strength. He let out a final, furious roar and struggled to rise.
Pan Qifeng struck with a casual backhand slash.
Ge Xiuyuan’s eyes shot wide open, pinned to the ground where he lay.
His body went cold, his eyes forever open in death.
"Ptooey!"
Pan Qifeng felt not a shred of guilt for killing his senior brother.
He spat a thick wad of phlegm onto Ge Xiuyuan’s corpse and stomped on it viciously several times.
Having vented over a decade of twisted rage, the shameless man gleefully began to rummage through Ge Xiuyuan’s Storage Ring.
As he searched, Pan Qifeng couldn’t resist making a few comments.
"’Tsk, tsk. Oh, my dear Senior Brother Ge, you really are pathetic. You cultivated for over thirty years, and this is all you have to show for it.’"
After releasing his Divine Sense to confirm no one was within a hundred-li radius, Pan Qifeng dumped out the entire contents of Ge Xiuyuan’s Storage Ring.
It was no wonder Pan Qifeng was so disdainful. Qin Xuan, who was hiding nearby, took note of the contents.
Inside Ge Xiuyuan’s Storage Ring were only a few faded robes from the Four Symbols Sect, thirty-some Purple Mansion Star Orders, and a few Life-saving Talismans.
Aside from those, there was nothing else.
It was hard to believe this was the entire net worth of a True Disciple from a Nascent Soul Sect.
Suddenly, Pan Qifeng’s eyes lit up. Tucked within Ge Xiuyuan’s faded robes, he discovered a lavish Spiritual Sense Jade Tube, completely out of place, engraved with the image of a white tiger.
Pan Qifeng probed it with his Divine Sense, and a look of immense joy spread across his face.
"’The White Tiger Divine Talisman inheritance!’"
Pan Qifeng eagerly began refining the Jade Tube and came to a sudden realization.
"’I see... The Four Symbols Divine Talismans are fated to attract one another through their Qi Mechanisms. So the Fire Phoenix Talisman really is somewhere near this Outer World Celestial Realm.’"
Pan Qifeng burst out laughing.
"’To think I would search high and low, only for it to fall right into my lap! With this half of the Tiger Talisman inheritance, I can return to my family. No more hiding my identity in the Four Symbols Sect!’"
"’And if I’m lucky, I might even be able to use my family’s resources to find the Fire Phoenix Talisman inheritance!’"
But just as Pan Qifeng was lost in his wonderful fantasy, the unexpected happened.
"Ugh... ghh..."
His expression suddenly froze.
He clutched his chest, gasping desperately for air but finding none.
The silver-white Jade Tube fell from his hand with a CLATTER.
The color drained from his face at a visible rate, turning from a healthy red to a deathly ashen gray.
"’Who... which senior is out there? Please, show yourself!’"
Pan Qifeng rasped.
He scanned his surroundings. There was only dead silence, nothing but the cold sea breeze.
"’No, I just got the White Tiger Divine Talisman inheritance! I can’t die!’"
Pan Qifeng’s Adam’s apple bobbed.
With great difficulty, he pulled a silver-white Talisman from his robes, his last resort like a cornered beast.
"’Copper Skin Iron Bone... Golden Body Tiger Talisman... activate!’"
He spoke in fits and starts, pouring his vast True Essence into the talisman.
As his True Essence flowed into it, the white tiger on the silver talisman seemed to spring to life.
"ROAR!"
Pan Qifeng tilted his head back, and the bold character for ’king’ appeared on his forehead.
The bones throughout his body began to CRACK and POP. A hint of color returned to his pale face, and his condition seemed to improve slightly.
’It’s working!’
A look of joy flashed across Pan Qifeng’s face.
But his joy was short-lived.
"PUH!"
A sharp pain suddenly shot through his chest, and Pan Qifeng violently spat out a mouthful of dark, clotted blood flecked with shimmering gold.
He looked down.
The fabric over his chest had silently disintegrated into ash, revealing a bloody, thumb-sized hole.
Tiny golden threads spread out from the wound, and he could vaguely see his own heart disintegrating into golden dust...
Terror seized Pan Qifeng, his face a mask of horror.
"No—!"
He let out a final, agonizing howl. The white tiger fur that had just begun to sprout all over his body instantly receded, and his life force vanished.
His head lolled to the side. His entire body dissolved into golden dust, scattering into the air and vanishing without a trace.
