Landlord in the Arctic

Chapter 538 - 366: A Talk

Gazing at the plane circling in the night sky, he fell into a daze.

Feng Mountain thought he could see Jenny, Erica, and Tammy excitedly leaning against a porthole window, their faces full of smiles and their eyes filled with a fond reluctance to leave, looking down at him on the ground.

Feng Mountain’s heart jolted as if something had gently stirred within him.

Before he had time to think, he subconsciously raised his hand.

He waved at the plane, as if in response to them, and also as a final farewell.

"Boss, we’re taking off too." Just then, the voices of David, Paine, Gunpowder, Bat, Scar, and Gordon sounded from behind him.

Slowly turning around, Feng Mountain saw that each of them was carrying a backpack, their faces filled with anticipation.

"Go on, then. Be good to your families when you get back."

Feng Mountain’s voice carried a trace of exhaustion, yet it was also full of concern.

They were also about to embark on their journeys home. He had already given each of them a generous bonus as a thank you for their hard work during this period.

Paine took a step forward, pointed at Ma Wei who was standing by to see them off, and said, "Boss, I’ve already briefed Ma Wei on camp security. As soon as Christmas is over, I’ll bring my wife and kid over."

"No problem. You’re welcome here." Feng Mountain smiled and patted Paine’s shoulder. "Once your kid arrives, he can start school right away. I’ve hired a teacher."

"Goodbye, Boss!"

Paine and the others said in unison, then turned and walked toward the airport.

As the employees left one by one,

the camp, which had been bustling with noise and laughter, instantly became much quieter.

Feng Mountain suddenly lost all interest in this Christmas Eve. Everything felt dull and tasteless.

He sat alone in a corner of the camp, silently watching the lively party with its singing and dancing not far away.

The sounds of music, laughter, and cheering mingled together.

But Feng Mountain felt like an outsider, unable to blend into the joyous atmosphere.

"If you couldn’t bear to see that woman go, why didn’t you leave with her?"

A haughty female voice suddenly sounded beside him, breaking Feng Mountain’s train of thought.

Immediately after, a fair hand holding a bottle of beer appeared before him.

"Why would I leave with her? It’s not like she isn’t coming back." Feng Mountain furrowed his brow slightly. He took the beer, tilted his head back, and took a large gulp. The cold liquid flowed down his throat but failed to dispel the melancholy in his heart.

He paused, then asked, "Where’s Aunt Natalia?"

"She went to catch up with Uncle Frank. She probably won’t be back tonight." Natasha said, gently placing a chair next to Feng Mountain before sitting down gracefully.

Then, she leaned over slightly and took off her silver high heels, which were at least eight inches high.

Feng Mountain subconsciously turned his head.

His gaze inevitably fell upon the sliver of leg and the pair of feet revealed beneath the hem of Natasha’s evening gown.

Her skin was as white as snow.

Under the soft lights, it shimmered with the gentle luster of warm jade, exuding a unique allure.

"Like what you see? Want to touch?" A faint smile played on Natasha’s lips. Her eyes, filled with a hint of playfulness, stared straight at Feng Mountain as if waiting for his reaction.

In that instant,

Feng Mountain felt his throat tighten as an inexplicable impulse surged within him.

The words, ’So what if I touch them? Who’s afraid of who?’ almost escaped his lips.

But just as the words reached his lips, he snapped back to his senses.

He forced the words back down, putting on a disdainful expression, his eyes tinged with a bit of indifference.

He retorted with a sarcastic tone to mask his inner turmoil.

"Wearing high heels on the grass, aren’t you afraid you’ll twist an ankle? There’s something wrong with you."

"Hah! Coward." Natasha let out a soft, cold laugh. She lifted her chin slightly, her posture arrogant, her eyes radiating a condescending air.

"What a pity. Uncle Feng passed away too soon, before he had time to teach you proper gentlemanly etiquette."

"As your fiancée, I have a responsibility and an obligation to tell you that when facing a lady, you should possess the virtues of a gentleman, not spew venomous and harsh words like a viper."

’Gentlemanly virtue?’

’Like that’s going to put food on the table?’

Feng Mountain scoffed inwardly and stood up disdainfully.

He recalled how aristocratic men acted in the movies.

Placing a hand on his chest, he bowed slightly and, feigning the air of a gentleman, said,

"Very well, my lady. Is there anything else? If not, I’ll be on my way. The air here is a bit... unpleasant."

Although Feng Mountain was being sarcastic and passive-aggressive, Natasha didn’t seem to mind.

Instead, she nodded in satisfaction, a flicker of triumph, barely perceptible, flashing in her eyes.

Then she raised her right hand and waved it elegantly, saying,

"I’d like to talk to you alone about the crabbing boat. I have some channels in Russia and can get a fishing permit. It would be even better if we could go to the bus camp to talk."

At this, Natasha deliberately paused, leaning forward slightly, her gaze locking onto Feng Mountain’s eyes.

Faced with this request,

Feng Mountain was deeply conflicted, but after thinking it over, he realized he really couldn’t refuse.

Not long ago, Alvin had revealed to him that the Alaska Fish and Game Bureau would be announcing a fishing ban next year.

This meant that the lucrative path of crabbing in United States waters was about to be cut off.

In the future, the camp’s development would definitely be greatly affected.

At the time, Alvin had sighed with regret.

If they could go crab fishing in the Russian Sea Area, they would strike it rich. It was just a pity that Russia’s fishing permits were extremely difficult to obtain.

Yet now, Natasha had casually mentioned that she had a way to get a fishing permit.

Those words were like a lamp suddenly lit in the darkness, rekindling Feng Mountain’s hope.
