Chapter 663 : So, Sister, Shall We Have a Long-Awaited Collaboration
"Um, can you both let go of my hands first? It’s really hard to walk like this."
Ling Ning glanced helplessly at the two sisters. While being sandwiched between two beautiful twin girls was undoubtedly a pleasant experience, walking this way was proving awkward.
"Sister, did you hear that? Ling Ning wants you to let go."
"Nonsense! Clearly, she’s asking you to let go. Besides, I was here first, so I have dibs!"
Their bickering made Ling Ning roll her eyes. As expected, getting these two sisters to reconcile was impossible—a pipe dream for eternity, like trying to mix fire and water.
She just couldn’t understand. With such similar personalities, even matching hobbies, why couldn’t they get along?
After a sigh, Ling Ning asked, "Where are we going now?"
"No idea."
"No idea? Then where exactly are you dragging me?"
"If we walk around, we might figure it out."
As their synchronized answers fell, Li Qian and Li Meng frowned simultaneously. Each was wondering why the other always seemed to say the same thing.
"Fine, whatever you want."
The three of them continued strolling down the street. Naturally, they became the center of attention, drawing gazes from passersby. Ling Ning was striking enough on her own, but the twin-like appearance of Li Qian and Li Meng made people stop and stare in awe.
Suddenly, Ling Ning felt the sisters halt in unison. Their gazes were fixed on a nearby storefront—a photography studio specializing in traditional Chinese costume portraits.
"Ling Ning, have you ever had an artistic photo taken?" Li Qian asked curiously.
"Did you forget what my job is?"
"Oh, right. But you probably haven’t done one in traditional costume, have you? Want to give it a try?"
Ling Ning looked at their expressions, both brimming with curiosity. After a moment of hesitation, she replied, "If you’re interested, go ahead. But you should probably ask for more details first."
"Ugh, if we have to inquire first, forget it."
Without a second thought, the twins grabbed Ling Ning and moved on, leaving her speechless. Just moments ago, they seemed eager to go in, but now they were dragging her away.
Noticing Ling Ning’s bemused expression, Li Qian chuckled. "I was just curious, but those photos must cost a pretty penny. Even though my New Year’s money was generous this year, I’m not ready to splurge on something like that."
"Alright, whatever you want. I’m just here to tag along today."
"Speaking of which," Li Qian said casually, though her eyes betrayed a hint of nervousness, "you and Su Ya from our dorm seem pretty close. Why didn’t I see you two hanging out much before the break?"
Ling Ning blinked and answered, "Oh, that? We had a bit of a disagreement about something, but it’s resolved now. By the way, she’s back at the dorm today. When are you two heading back? Need any help?"
"No need. We don’t have much to bring."
Li Qian and Li Meng exchanged a look, gleaning some insights from Ling Ning’s response. It confirmed that she and Su Ya had indeed had some issues, though they appeared to be resolved now. And based on Ling Ning’s comment, she had likely seen or spoken to Su Ya earlier.
Seeing their strange expressions, Ling Ning tilted her head. "What’s wrong? Is something up?"
"No... nothing. By the way," Li Meng said with unusual seriousness, "Ling Ning, do you have someone you like?"
At her question, all three stopped in their tracks. The atmosphere turned noticeably tense.
Ling Ning’s heart skipped a beat, a sense of foreboding washing over her. With so many unresolved issues already, now two more had popped up. Why did these tricky questions keep coming her way?
After a moment of hesitation, she sighed. There was no point in running from it.
"Yes."
Though they had expected it, hearing it confirmed left Li Qian and Li Meng feeling disheartened. It was obvious—it was either Su Ya or Xia You.
For a moment, the air between them grew so heavy that even passersby noticed something odd about the trio’s dynamic.
Finally, Li Qian forced a smile. "I see. I figured as much. It’s not like Ling Ning wouldn’t have someone she likes. Well, I just remembered something important, so I’ll head off first."
"Yeah, same here. I have something to do. See you when school starts, Ling Ning."
Watching the sisters’ retreating backs, Ling Ning sighed softly. How had things turned out like this?

Back home, Li Qian sat on her bed, lost in thought as she stared at the corner of her room.
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door, followed by her sister’s voice. "It’s me. Can we talk about something?"
"The door’s open."
Li Meng walked in, glancing at her sister. She knew that, compared to herself, Li Qian had fallen much deeper.
Casually sitting beside her, Li Meng looked around the room and remarked, "How long has it been since I last came in here?"
"I don’t know. Years, maybe."
With a deliberately light tone, Li Meng said, "Judging by your expression, are you thinking of giving up?"
"What else can I do if I don’t?"
"My dear sister, have you been playing nice for so long that you’ve forgotten what you used to be like? So what if Ling Ning has someone she likes? The old you wouldn’t have cared. You’d just go for it. Being tsundere won’t solve anything."
"If you’d confessed earlier, do you think there’d be any room left for me or anyone else?"
"I..."
Li Qian blinked, realizing her sister had a point. In the past, she never hesitated, whether the other person had someone they liked or not. Why had she faltered this time?
"So," Li Meng said with a mischievous grin, "Sister, how about we team up for old times’ sake?"
