Chapter 632 : Helplessly Addicted to Long Legs
“So tired…”
Early in the morning, Ling Ning arrived at the office. The exhaustion from the previous night was still evident in her body. Don’t get the wrong idea—she had simply been subjected to her thighs being touched until the middle of the night.
She just didn’t understand it. What was so fascinating about long legs, anyway?
The thought of being pinned down by Ye Xuan, who touched her thighs for an hour straight, left Ling Ning feeling utterly defeated.
“Ling Ning, did you not sleep well last night?” Qin Qing asked, raising her head to glance at Ling Ning with a curious expression after hearing her complaint.
“N-No, it’s nothing. I just stayed up all night gaming, that’s all.”
A certain kind of gaming.
“Huh? And who was it that kept lecturing me about not staying up late because it’s bad for your health? This won’t do, Ling Ning—you need to set an example~”
Seeing Qin Qing’s teasing expression, Ling Ning rolled her eyes without hesitation and slumped onto the sofa for a quick nap. Her only thought now was to finish her work quickly so she could rest properly.
Watching Ling Ning close her eyes, Qin Qing chuckled softly. She grabbed her coat and draped it over Ling Ning’s shoulders before sitting back at her desk.
Though she thought about letting Ling Ning sleep in the inner room, she ultimately decided against it.
Time ticked by, and most of the office employees had arrived. Suddenly, a knock sounded on the door. Unlike the usual soft taps, this knock was loud and enthusiastic, as if the person couldn’t contain their excitement.
Normally, Qin Qing wouldn’t mind such a small detail, but this time…
“Come in.”
At Qin Qing’s command, Fatty entered, holding a few design drafts in his hands, his face full of excitement. As he walked, he spoke in a booming voice, “Boss, I came up with a new idea last night! I’d like your opinion on it~”
The moment he finished speaking, he noticed something off about his boss’s expression. While Qin Qing was usually stern, today she exuded an icy aura akin to a Siberian winter.
Did he do something wrong?
Fatty blinked and looked around the room. His eyes eventually landed on Ling Ning, who was napping on the sofa. At that moment, he realized his mistake.
Awkwardly chuckling, Fatty carefully placed the design drafts on Qin Qing’s desk. Just as he was about to leave, Qin Qing spoke.
“Fatty, it’s time to start planning for the spring collection. I want you to think it through thoroughly. By next week, I expect some solid concepts on my desk. You understand what will happen if you don’t deliver.”
“Yes, ma’am! I’ll get on it right away!”
Never doubt the boss’s decisions—never!
That was a lesson learned through blood and tears.
Realizing he had only a week to complete the task, Fatty suddenly felt like his life was over. Why did he make such a rookie mistake? On top of that, the boss seemed overly indulgent toward Ling Ning.
Could it be…?
Fatty felt like he had stumbled upon something scandalous. Remembering how he once had a fleeting crush on Ling Ning, he now felt even more uneasy.
After Fatty left, the office fell silent once more, save for the sound of Qin Qing flipping through documents.
It was unclear how much time had passed when Ling Ning slowly opened her eyes. Stretching lazily, she yawned and asked, “Sister Qin Qing, what time is it now?”
“It’s almost noon. Since you’re awake, why don’t you grab us some lunch?” Qin Qing replied without looking up.
“I can’t believe I slept for so long. Why didn’t you wake me? I’ve neglected my work!”
“Don’t worry. I already informed them you’ll handle it in the afternoon. It’s nothing too urgent anyway.”
“Oh, I see…”
Ling Ning nodded lightly, then noticed the coat draped over her. As if struck by a thought, she got up and walked over to Qin Qing. “Let’s have lunch together~”
“I still have work to do.”
“It’s fine. I’ll help you when we get back. I’ve rested all morning, so I can lend you a hand at noon. Besides, it might do you good to take a walk after sitting for so long~”
In the end, Qin Qing reluctantly allowed herself to be pulled out of the office by Ling Ning.
The restaurant wasn’t far from the company—a familiar spot they frequented.
After ordering their meals, Qin Qing gazed out at the bustling crowd outside the window. Seemingly lost in thought, she turned back to Ling Ning and asked, “Ling Ning, once we finish the current workload in a day or two, do you plan to take a break or go on leave?”
“I’ll probably take Ye Ye on a little trip.”
“A trip? Like traveling?”
“Yes. If nothing unexpected happens, we should return before the New Year. Sister Qin Qing, do you want to join us for some relaxation? There doesn’t seem to be any major projects right now~”
Having managed much of Qin Qing’s workload, Ling Ning was well aware of the situation.
“I’d like to, but I’m planning to take Sirou back to my hometown. It’s been years since I last visited. I want to go back this year.” A trace of melancholy flickered in Qin Qing’s eyes as she spoke.
Their conversation continued as their food was served.
Savoring the delicious dishes, a faint smile appeared on Ling Ning’s face. This restaurant’s food was as excellent as ever—expensive but worth it. And with the boss, Qin Qing, footing the bill, she could indulge freely.
Midway through their meal, Qin Qing suddenly said, “Ling Ning, have you thought about getting a driver’s license? I know someone who can help you pass the exam directly if you’re ready.”
“Really?!”
Ling Ning’s interest was piqued. Having a license meant she could buy a car and take her daughter on road trips—just imagining it felt wonderful.
“Of course. Judging by your reaction, I assume you’re interested. He’s unavailable right now, but I’ll arrange it for after the New Year.”
“Thank you, Sister Qin Qing~”
“It’s nothing. I just don’t enjoy being mistaken for your chauffeur every time we go out. What kind of secretary doesn’t know how to drive?” Qin Qing said with a resigned expression.
“Hehe~”
