Chapter 570 : One Day, You’ll Turn Into Hot Weapon
“So, aren’t we leaving yet?” Su Ya asked, her boredom evident.
“We just finished breakfast. No need to be so eager; let’s rest for a bit~” Ling Ning replied absentmindedly as her gaze drifted to the breakfast shop across the street, where she had seen Xia Li and the older woman enter earlier.
Though Ling Ning had told herself to let it go, her curiosity still simmered.
Judging by the situation, however, it seemed the pair wouldn’t be leaving anytime soon.
“But we’ve been sitting here for a while now,” Su Ya mumbled.
“Alright, let’s go then~”
Ling Ning sighed softly, stood up, and walked out with Su Ya. Before leaving, she cast one last reluctant glance at the breakfast shop across the street. Why was their breakfast taking so long?
Amid the bustling crowd, Ling Ning squinted and thought for a moment before taking Su Ya’s hand and heading toward the nearby shopping mall. It was the only place in the area worth visiting.
They could also stop by the café. It had been a while since Su Ya had visited, and without Su Ya’s maid outfit to admire, Ling Ning felt her life lacked a certain joy.
When they arrived at the mall, they hadn’t even begun window shopping when they spotted a young girl in a maid outfit handing out flyers.
Squinting to take a closer look, Ling Ning realized it was her disciple, Jiang Xue. As expected, Chu Mengyao had sent Jiang Xue out to distribute flyers as a training exercise, likely to ensure someone could handle the task even in Ling Ning’s absence.
Despite her training, Jiang Xue still seemed shy, especially when distributing flyers alone. It was a completely different experience from working alongside her master.
After successfully handing out another flyer, Jiang Xue suddenly heard a voice beside her ear. “Maid lady, are you offering… personal services?”
Startled, Jiang Xue turned to find her master standing behind her with a mischievous grin. It was clear that the question had been spoken in a disguised voice by none other than Ling Ning.
Seeing her disciple’s shocked expression, Ling Ning burst into laughter.
Before Jiang Xue could respond, Su Ya approached with an exasperated tone. “Do you really enjoy teasing people that much?”
“I wasn’t!”
“What goes around comes around, Ling Ning. One day, karma will turn you into hot weapon—I’m telling you~”
“Hahaha, impossible! Hot weapon? Doesn’t exist~” Ling Ning replied nonchalantly.
Noticing Su Ya’s sudden arrival, Jiang Xue raised an eyebrow before quickly recovering. “Master, what brings you here today?”
“It’s the weekend, so Su Ya and I decided to go out and explore. By the way, will the café be busy today?”
After thinking for a moment, Jiang Xue replied, “It might be.”
“Ling Ning, let’s help out at the café!” Su Ya suggested abruptly.
“Eh? Weren’t you planning to shop?”
“It’s so cold…”
Ling Ning was momentarily at a loss for words. She had almost forgotten how much Su Ya hated the cold. Given the weather, Su Ya would likely prefer working in the warm café over wandering outside.
After a brief thought, Ling Ning said, “Alright, you head to the café first. I’ll help Xiaoxue finish handing out these flyers, then I’ll join you.”
“Okay.”
Once Su Ya left, Ling Ning naturally took half the flyers from her disciple and began handing them out.
Watching her master in action, Jiang Xue couldn’t help but admire her. Her master was flawless—not only in daily life but also in her work ethic.
“I want to corner my master against a wall, see the disbelief in her eyes, and kiss her senseless until she’s utterly dazed… Wait, what?!”
Jiang Xue clapped her hands over her face. Why did these thoughts always pop into her head whenever she looked at her master? If she really acted on them, her master might leave her forever.
While Jiang Xue was lost in thought, Ling Ning’s voice broke through. “What’s wrong, my dear disciple? If you keep daydreaming, you’ll miss lunchtime~”
“N-nothing.”
“That’s good. Oh, here, take this~”
Ling Ning unwrapped her scarf and handed it to Jiang Xue. Although Jiang Xue’s maid outfit wasn’t exactly thin, it was far less insulated than Ling Ning’s fully bundled attire.
Seeing Jiang Xue still in a daze, Ling Ning stepped forward and tied the scarf around her neck.
“This scarf suits you quite well,” Ling Ning said, nodding in satisfaction.
“I-it’s not necessary. This outfit isn’t that cold,” Jiang Xue stammered, embarrassed.
“No need to say more. By the way, I haven’t properly congratulated you on winning second place in the Water Dragon Awards. This scarf is brand new; I’ve only used it for a few hours. If you don’t mind that, consider it my gift to you.”
“T-thank you.”
As Jiang Xue caught the faint scent lingering on the scarf, a gentle smile curved her lips. Since it was her master’s scarf, she couldn’t resist accepting it. If it had been brand new, she might have refused, but something her master had worn? She was powerless to decline.
With Ling Ning’s help, the flyers were distributed at an impressive speed. After all, Ling Ning was a seasoned pro at this—when it came to handing out flyers, her charm worked on everyone, male or female. If one smile didn’t seal the deal, two would.
When the last flyer was handed out, Ling Ning stretched contentedly and sat down on a nearby bench with Jiang Xue.
As she lounged lazily, Jiang Xue asked cautiously, “Master, aren’t we going back after handing out the flyers?”
“It’s fine. We finished much earlier than I expected. Let’s relax here and soak up the sun before heading back~” Ling Ning’s tone had grown languid, likely due to the warmth of the sunlight.
Hearing this, Jiang Xue tilted her head. Since her master said so, she wouldn’t argue.
