Chapter 569 : You’re the One Who’s My Girlfriend, Okay!
“So sleepy~”
Ling Ning covered her mouth with her hand as she yawned. Staying up late last night had been exhausting enough, but to be woken up early by Su Ya’s phone call this morning? That was just unfair.
As she thought back on last night’s events, Ling Ning’s face displayed a look of pure resignation. She was the one who started it. She was supposed to be the dominant one, so how had things turned out like this?!
Shaking her head lightly, Ling Ning tried to calm herself as she began walking toward her destination. Su Ya had invited her out today, which in itself was surprising—Su Ya was up early. That was unusual.
Normally, on her days off, Su Ya would sleep in until at least ten. If it was winter, that time could stretch by another hour or two.
As Ling Ning’s thoughts wandered, a familiar figure suddenly appeared in her line of sight. If she wasn’t mistaken, that had to be Xia Li, right?
Ling Ning moved closer to confirm. Sure enough, it was Xia Li, standing there with an expectant look as if waiting for someone.
Recalling what Xia You had told her yesterday, Ling Ning’s curiosity was piqued. With plenty of time before her meeting with Su Ya, she decided to hang back and observe.
Less than ten minutes later, a tall and stylishly dressed woman appeared before Xia Li. Her mature and alluring presence was undeniable. However, her outfit concealed her features too well for Ling Ning to identify her.
Even so, Ling Ning couldn’t shake the feeling that she knew this woman.
Unfortunately, from where she stood, Ling Ning couldn’t hear their conversation. The curiosity gnawed at her like a cat scratching relentlessly. It was frustrating.
After a brief exchange, Xia Li broke into a radiant smile, and the two began walking away together. Ling Ning was just about to follow when she felt a hand tap her shoulder.
Turning instinctively, she found Su Ya standing behind her, looking at her curiously.
“Ling Ning, what are you staring at?”
As Su Ya spoke, she glanced in the direction Ling Ning had been looking but saw nothing noteworthy.
“N-nothing. By the way, when did you get here?” Ling Ning laughed awkwardly, trying to deflect the question.
“Oh, I came here to grab breakfast and saw someone who looked like you staring at something. When I got closer, I realized it really was you~”
“Oh~ I see. Looks like we’re on the same wavelength~” Ling Ning said with a mischievous smile.
Su Ya’s cheeks flushed slightly as she replied, “Same wavelength? Could you not say such cheesy things?”
“How is being on the same wavelength cheesy? You must be overthinking it, Xiao Ya~”
Su Ya opened her mouth to retort but found herself at a loss for words.
Seeing Su Ya’s expression, Ling Ning chuckled softly. “Alright, let’s drop it. So why did you call me so early today?”
“Well…” Su Ya averted her gaze, mumbling, “I don’t know why I woke up so early. I was bored and thought I’d ask you to hang out.”
“So basically, I’m your human entertainment, huh?”
“No-no, that’s not what I meant!” Su Ya stammered, her tone betraying her nervousness.
“Relax, I’m just teasing. Honestly, I’m happy you asked me out~”
As Ling Ning spoke, she hugged Su Ya and nuzzled her cheek against hers, even sneaking a playful lick to her ear.
Startled, Su Ya turned beet red, her face glowing as if she’d just had a drink.
Though the area wasn’t particularly crowded, the sight of two beautiful girls being so affectionate naturally attracted a lot of attention from passersby.
Without overthinking it, Ling Ning grabbed Su Ya’s hand and whisked her away from the scene.
After finding a random breakfast spot to sit down, Su Ya finally recovered and puffed her cheeks in indignation. “What are you doing?! There were so many people around! What if someone saw us?”
“What else? I’d just tell them you’re my girlfriend~”
Su Ya instinctively shot back, “You’re the one who’s my girlfriend, okay!”
The moment the words left her mouth, Su Ya regretted them. Why had she unconsciously gone along with it? Thinking was one thing, but why did she have to say it out loud?!
Predictably, Ling Ning’s eyes lit up with excitement. She wrapped her arms around Su Ya and exclaimed, “Does this mean Xiao Ya is finally acknowledging our relationship? I’m so happy~”
“Let go already! It’s just temporary, okay? Whether I acknowledge it or not depends on your performance!” Su Ya said, half annoyed, half embarrassed.
“Got it, got it~ By the way, do you have any plans for today?”
Hearing this, Su Ya’s face froze. Plans? She had none. Asking Ling Ning out had been a spur-of-the-moment decision, and now she was stuck.
Ling Ning, reading Su Ya’s expression, already knew the answer. She had long since learned not to expect Su Ya to plan anything when going out.
“How about we just wander around after breakfast?”
“Th-that works!”
As they ate, Ling Ning suddenly spotted Xia Li again. She had assumed she’d lost track of her earlier, but there Xia Li was, chatting and laughing with the same mysterious woman. Ling Ning felt a strong urge to investigate.
But today wasn’t the right time. She couldn’t drag Su Ya along for sleuthing, could she?
Oh well. Once the relationship was confirmed, she could find out the details. It was just a matter of time anyway.
