Chapter 440 : It Was Your Mom Who Made the First Move!

As a pleasant melody rang out, Ling Ning slowly opened her eyes. She lazily picked up her phone to check the time—it was only 8 a.m. On this National Day holiday, she had initially planned to sleep in, but she needed to visit her student’s house to celebrate the student’s successful advancement in a competition.
Even though it was a bit early for a celebration, considering how hard her student had worked, Ling Ning figured it was a good way to reward her efforts.
If it had only been this, Ling Ning wouldn’t have needed to wake up so early. However, she also needed to bring along Chen Ruo, so she had to get up sooner.
Turning her head, she glanced at Xia You, who was still sound asleep. Ling Ning had originally intended to ask if Xia You wanted to join, but remembering how late Xia You had stayed up last night, she decided to let her sleep longer.
Don’t misunderstand—it was because Xia You had brought over her computer to work on videos and stayed up until 3 a.m. Ling Ning couldn’t take it anymore and went to bed first.
Moving quietly, Ling Ning slipped out of bed. Before freshening up, she peeked into her daughter Ling Ye’s room. Seeing her still fast asleep, she then went to the bathroom to wash up.
Once ready, Ling Ning returned to her room to change clothes, only to find herself suddenly hugged from behind.
“Ling Ning, are you heading out today?” Xia You, half-asleep, mumbled while holding onto her.
“Mm, I’m going to Jiang Xue’s place. Do you want to come?”
“No, I want to keep sleeping.”
After leaving a trail of drool on Ling Ning’s face, Xia You buried herself back under the covers and went back to sleep.
Wiping the drool off her face, Ling Ning shook her head helplessly. Why had Xia You started picking up habits from Ling Ye, like leaving drool on her face? Couldn’t she learn something better?
Dressed and ready, Ling Ning left the house, heading first to Chen Ruo’s place. Although she had called Chen Ruo the previous night, knowing her scatterbrained personality, she was probably still asleep.
The first order of business was to wake her up.
It took only ten minutes for Ling Ning to reach Chen Ruo’s home. After ringing the doorbell, the door was quickly opened—not by Chen Ruo, but by Lin Yue.
Seeing that it was Ling Ning, Lin Yue raised an eyebrow and asked, “Why are you here so early?”
“Good morning, Xiao Yue. I’m here to see your mom,” Ling Ning replied with a slight smile.
“Who gave you permission to call me that?”
Though Lin Yue protested, she still unlocked the security door and let Ling Ning in.
As soon as Ling Ning entered, she was greeted by the delicious aroma of food. Glancing at Lin Yue’s apron, she guessed Lin Yue must have been preparing breakfast.
Lin Yue actually looked quite the part in an apron.
Lin Yue seemed about to say something but suddenly remembered something and rushed toward the kitchen, exclaiming, “Ah! The porridge is going to burn!”
Watching Lin Yue’s flustered movements, Ling Ning chuckled softly and naturally made her way to Chen Ruo’s room. If her guess was correct, the scatterbrained lady would still be lazing in bed.
Sure enough, upon opening the door, she found Chen Ruo fast asleep. The blanket had been kicked to the floor, and Chen Ruo was curled up in her thin nightgown, clearly feeling cold yet reluctant to wake up.
“If you’re cold, why set the air conditioner so low?”
She grabbed the remote from a pile of clutter and turned off the air conditioner. Then she walked over to Chen Ruo and gently shook her.
Honestly, in this state, Chen Ruo looked incredibly cute—so much so that Ling Ning almost had some bold ideas.
Sensing something, Chen Ruo slowly opened her eyes. The first thing she saw was Ling Ning’s flawless face. Still groggy, she blinked, unable to make sense of the situation.
“Am I dreaming?”
Thinking this must be a dream, Chen Ruo instinctively reached out and hugged Ling Ning, even wrapping her legs around Ling Ning’s waist. She had always wanted to know what it felt like to hold Ling Ning, and even if it was just a dream, she felt content.
Caught off guard, Ling Ning stumbled and fell onto the bed.
The impact startled Chen Ruo awake. Wait, was this…not a dream?
“Chen Ruo, you seem particularly enthusiastic today~” Ling Ning teased, smiling down at Chen Ruo.
“Eh!?” Chen Ruo blinked, quickly letting go and pulling her arms and legs back. Her face turned visibly red. “T-This isn’t what it looks like! I can explain, Ling Ning!”
Before Ling Ning could respond, a loud shout came from behind her: “Hey, you b****! What are you doing to my mom?!”
Lin Yue stood at the door, staring in disbelief. Her poor mom was pinned beneath Ling Ning, looking pitiful. Ling Ning must have done something unspeakable!
Not even Lin Yue had dared to go that far! How envi… No, how despicable!
“Eh?! Xiao Yue, wait—this isn’t Ling Ning’s fault. It was…your mom who made the first move.”
“Pfft!”
Hearing this, Lin Yue clutched her chest as if she’d been struck, her face pale as she looked at the two.
“Chen Ruo, you don’t need to explain. Let me do it.”
Ling Ning said as she stood up and began explaining the situation to Lin Yue.
Once Lin Yue understood the truth, she sighed in relief. She had thought her mom had already fallen victim to this b****.
“By the way, Ling Ning, why are you here so early?”
“Didn’t I call you last night? Don’t tell me you forgot.”
“Hm?”
Chen Ruo rubbed her chin thoughtfully. Last night, while reviewing study materials, she vaguely remembered Ling Ning calling. But she had been at a critical moment in her work and had only mumbled a response before hanging up.
Seeing Chen Ruo’s expression, Ling Ning knew she had forgotten. After explaining again, Chen Ruo finally recalled.
