How Could I Possibly Have a Daughter After Reincarnating?

Chapter 425 : Laughing All the Way to a GG

Su Ya turned her head slightly, glancing at Ling Ning, who was walking beside her. The umbrella they shared wasn’t very large, so they had to stay close to avoid getting wet.

At such a close distance, Su Ya could clearly smell the faint fragrance lingering on Ling Ning. Staring at Ling Ning’s profile, Su Ya thought to herself—she’s as beautiful as always.

But there was something different today. Ling Ning had put on a light touch of makeup, making her look even more alluring than usual.

Sensing Su Ya’s gaze, Ling Ning turned her head and smiled gently. “What’s the matter?”

“N-Nothing…”

Ling Ning stopped walking and leaned in closer. “Could it be that you’re mesmerized by how gorgeous I am?”

Her flawless face was so near that Su Ya could even feel Ling Ning’s soft breaths. If either of them leaned just a little bit closer, their lips would undoubtedly touch.

An ambiguous tension began to fill the air between them.

As they moved closer and closer, Su Ya suddenly caught a glimpse of a passerby out of the corner of her eye. She instinctively turned her head away, realizing that they were still on the school campus.

Although it was raining, that didn’t mean no one was out and about. If anyone saw them, it would surely lead to teasing laughter—and a figurative GG for the both of them.

Ling Ning’s eyes showed a hint of disappointment. They had been so close. But Su Ya had dodged. Glancing at the retreating passerby, Ling Ning thought bitterly, *Why did they have to show up at that exact moment? Couldn’t they have come by earlier or later?*

The passing male student suddenly felt a chill and quickened his pace, as though sensing some unseen danger.

“Let’s get going. If we don’t, the boss will probably call to rush us.”

“…Mm.”

The two arrived at the school gate, where taxis were often lined up on weekends. Ling Ning easily flagged one down.

“Ling Ning, is your company very big? And… will Ms. Qin Qing be hard to talk to?” Su Ya asked hesitantly.

“Hmm…” Ling Ning squinted, thinking. “There are quite a few people. I haven’t been there in a while, so I don’t know if the numbers have changed. As for Sister Qin Qing, she’s actually pretty easy to get along with.”

“O-Oh, I see…”

Seeing Su Ya’s lingering unease, Ling Ning chuckled softly. “Don’t worry. The people at the company are all nice. Besides, I’m here with you, aren’t I?”

As she spoke, Ling Ning gently took Su Ya’s hand.

Feeling the warmth from Ling Ning’s palm, Su Ya’s initial nervousness dissipated, and she nodded slightly. With Ling Ning by her side, she truly felt at ease.

Although their destination was far, the traffic was smooth that day. Before long, they arrived at the building. They took the elevator to the floor where the company was located.

As the elevator doors opened, the massive Apple logo of the company came into view. No matter how many times Su Ya saw it, she always felt unsure whether to laugh or cry.

“Xiao Ling Ning, you’re here!”

“Good morning, Sister Soymilk.”

“Hey, I told you not to call me Sister Soymilk! Ugh, whatever. For you, I’ll make an exception.”

After cheerfully greeting the receptionist, Ling Ning led Su Ya into the workspace, heading straight for Qin Qing’s office.

Following behind Ling Ning, Su Ya couldn’t help but marvel at how naturally Ling Ning interacted with everyone. Su Ya couldn’t imagine herself ever being like that. Just the thought of being the center of so much attention left her at a loss for words, let alone carrying on conversations so effortlessly.

When they reached Qin Qing’s office door, Ling Ning knocked gently. After receiving permission, she entered the room with Su Ya.

Inside, they were greeted by a chaotic scene of files and design drafts piled haphazardly. Ling Ning even spotted a lunchbox in one corner.

As for Qin Qing herself, she looked nothing like her usual elegant self. Her hair was a mess, her dark circles were glaringly obvious, and her overall appearance was exhausted.

Su Ya was completely stunned. Qin Qing was one of her idols in the fashion design world, frequently featured in major fashion magazines. She couldn’t reconcile the glamorous Qin Qing from those publications with the disheveled woman before her—they seemed like two entirely different people.

“Oh~ Ling Ning, you’re here,” Qin Qing said weakly.

“Another few nights of staying up late? I told you, staying up all night is terrible for your health.”

Sighing, Ling Ning began tidying up the office with practiced ease. This was something she had done many times before. After all, Qin Qing was the type who would work herself to the bone.

“Only three nights this time. Once your shoot is done today, I can finally rest,” Qin Qing said with a yawn. Her gaze shifted to Su Ya, who was still frozen in place. With some curiosity, she asked, “Is this the classmate studying fashion design you mentioned?”

“Yes, her name is Su Ya.”

Hearing Qin Qing mention her, Su Ya finally snapped out of it. “M-Ms. Qin Qing, hello! My name is Su Ya, and I major in fashion design.”

Seeing Su Ya’s nervousness, Ling Ning couldn’t help but smile wryly. “Relax. Take it easy. Sister Qin Qing Jie is actually very approachable.”

If any of the employees outside heard that, they’d probably burst out laughing. Qin Qing? Approachable? That would only happen if the sun rose in the west. The list of people she was kind to was extremely short, and Ling Ning was one of them.

Thanks to Ling Ning’s reassurance, Su Ya gradually calmed down and began asking Qin Qing questions about fashion design. Qin Qing, having nothing else to do, answered every question in detail, showing no hesitation.

As Su Ya and Qin Qing got engrossed in their conversation, Ling Ning smiled faintly and bent down to organize the office. This was practically a ritual for her every time she visited. She knew exactly how to sort the files, where to place the design drafts, and how to arrange everything—she had done it countless times before.
