Chapter 424 : I Don’t Get It, I Really Don’t
“Xiao Ya, why does it seem like your mood has improved a lot recently?”
Lu Muyuan looked at Su Ya with a teasing smile. Just a few days ago, Su Ya had been sighing heavily and looking utterly preoccupied. Now, seemingly out of nowhere, she was back to her cheerful self.
I don’t get it, I really don’t.
“R-Really?” Su Ya blinked in surprise. Was she that obvious?
Lu Muyuan nodded. “Compared to a few days ago, you’re like a completely different person. Don’t believe me? Ask Li Qian and Li Meng—they’d agree for sure.”
The two sisters, who were absorbed in their soap opera, nodded simultaneously after hearing Lu Muyuan’s words. Indeed, Su Ya seemed very different compared to a few days ago.
As if a thought had struck her, Lu Muyuan suddenly leaned closer to Su Ya and said with a grin, “Could it be that your… friend made a decision?”
“Well… kind of,” Su Ya replied softly.
“Come on, tell me more about it!”
“There’s really nothing much to say! She didn’t even tell me exactly what happened, so stop being so nosy,” Su Ya said, nudging Lu Muyuan and turning her attention back to her anime.
Finally, the military training was over, and tomorrow was a rest day. Su Ya wondered if Ling Ning would ask her out. But with the weather forecast predicting heavy rain again tomorrow, it seemed unlikely.
At that moment, Su Ya’s phone, resting on the table, vibrated. When she picked it up, she saw it was a call from Ling Ning.
“Hello, is this Xiao Ya?”
The familiar sound of Ling Ning’s voice made Su Ya’s heart race. After calming herself, she responded, “It’s me. What’s up, Ling Ning?”
“Well, tomorrow I need to go to the company for a photoshoot. Would you like to come along and check it out?”
“Yes!”
Without hesitation, Su Ya accepted the invitation. She’d heard Ling Ning talk about her company before—a new brand managed by the famous fashion designer Qin Qing. Just thinking about it made Su Ya a little excited, especially since her major was fashion design.
“It won’t be inconvenient if I come, will it?”
“Not at all. Don’t worry about it.” Ling Ning chuckled as she thought about her colleagues at the company. She hadn’t seen them in a while and wondered if they were still as busy as the last time she visited.
“Then it’s settled. I’ll wait for you at the school gate at 9 AM tomorrow. Oh, and remember to bring an umbrella—it looks like it’s going to rain again.”
“Okay.”
After hanging up, Su Ya exhaled deeply. The thought of visiting Ling Ning’s company tomorrow filled her with excitement. She’d never seen a professional model photoshoot up close before.

“Xiao Ya! Xiao Ya!”
Hearing her name called twice, Su Ya snapped out of her thoughts and looked at Lu Muyuan in confusion. “What is it?”
“I was just wondering… was that your boyfriend on the phone?”
Seeing the gossip burning in Lu Muyuan’s eyes, Su Ya let out a helpless laugh. Her roommate was great in almost every way—except for her tendency to pry.
“Well… kind of.”
“Oh~”
Lu Muyuan nodded knowingly before returning to her seat without asking anything further.

The next morning.
Su Ya slowly opened her eyes. Rainy weather always made for great sleep. What was on her schedule for today again? Oh, right—it was raining so heavily that her schedule might as well just be sleeping all day.
As she thought about it, Su Ya closed her eyes again.
Just then, Lu Muyuan, who had already washed up, glanced at Su Ya, who had gone back to sleep. “Xiao Ya, don’t you have a date with your boyfriend today? Aren’t you going to be late if you don’t get up soon?”
“It’s fine… wait!”
Realizing what she’d forgotten, Su Ya shot up, fumbling around for her phone. A quick glance told her it was nearly 8:30 AM. With her meeting with Ling Ning at 9 AM, she was doomed!
“Bunhead! Why didn’t you wake me up earlier?”
“Your alarm went off at 7 AM, and I saw you get up, so I didn’t think I needed to call you again,” Lu Muyuan said matter-of-factly.
Su Ya didn’t have time to argue. She quickly got out of bed and rushed to the bathroom to get ready. With less than 30 minutes left, she was in serious trouble.
Despite her best efforts to speed up, Su Ya still didn’t make it out the door until almost 9:30 AM.
As she hurried downstairs, she hadn’t even stepped outside when someone grabbed her arm. Turning instinctively, she saw that it was Ling Ning.
“L-Ling Ning? Why are you here?”
“Well, I waited for a while and didn’t see you, so I came over to find you instead.”
As Ling Ning spoke, she stepped closer to Su Ya and began tidying up her slightly messy outfit. It was clear Su Ya had overslept and rushed out without properly dressing.
In their previous life, this happened all the time, so Ling Ning wasn’t surprised.
Su Ya silently watched as Ling Ning fixed her clothes, momentarily at a loss for words.
“All done!”
Satisfied, Ling Ning nodded. “This outfit… wasn’t it one we bought together when we went shopping? I knew I had good taste.”
“W-What? Is there something wrong with how I look?” Su Ya asked nervously under Ling Ning’s gaze.
“Nothing at all. You look beautiful, Xiao Ya.” Before Su Ya could respond, Ling Ning handed her a breakfast box she’d been holding.
Originally, Ling Ning had planned for them to eat breakfast together, but considering Su Ya’s slow start and her own work schedule, she had bought breakfast for Su Ya instead.
“Th-Thank you.”
As they prepared to leave the dormitory, Su Ya suddenly realized she had forgotten to bring an umbrella.
Ling Ning opened her umbrella and stood beside Su Ya, smiling. “Forgot your umbrella, didn’t you?”
“...Yes.”
“Well then, we’ll share. Going back to grab it would make me late.”
Ling Ning’s mysterious smile hinted that she’d anticipated this. She even had a spare umbrella in her bag, but it seemed she wouldn’t need it now.
“Alright… I guess.”
