How Could I Possibly Have a Daughter After Reincarnating?

Chapter 404 : Hold It Right There, PONGmates!

“So this is the girls’ dorm? Looks pretty ordinary to me~”

Ling Ning remarked as she followed Su Ya down the hallway of the dormitory. It was only the second day of registration, and the corridors were bustling with girls carrying various items back and forth.

“By the way, where’s your room, Xiao Ya?” Ling Ning asked, curiosity evident in her tone.

“Room 404. We’re almost there,” Su Ya replied.

Soon, the pair arrived at the door to Su Ya’s dorm. Ling Ning let out a long breath. This was the girls’ dorm her past-life girlfriend had stayed in. Even now, she felt a little thrill of excitement at being here.

Knowing Su Ya’s love for cleanliness, Ling Ning didn’t expect to encounter any chaotic scenes like underwear strewn everywhere. Still, as Su Ya opened the door, a dark object flew straight toward her face.

Instinctively, Su Ya tilted her head to the side, causing the object to hit Ling Ning instead.

Reaching up, Ling Ning peeled the mysterious black item off her face. It was a pair of semi-transparent black lace panties. Judging by the design, it felt oddly familiar.

Before she could recall where she’d seen them before, angry voices erupted from inside the room:

“You better not run! I swear I’ll kill you!”

“You think I’m scared of you? Bring it on!”

Hearing the two familiar voices, Ling Ning looked into the room. She saw Li Qian and Li Meng, twin sisters, glaring at each other with furious expressions. Another girl, whom she didn’t recognize, was cowering in the corner, trembling.

“Hold it right there, PONGmates!” Ling Ning called out to stop the escalating situation.

The twins immediately turned their heads toward her voice. Seeing Ling Ning standing in the doorway, they both exclaimed,

“What are you doing here?!”

Ling Ning shrugged nonchalantly. “I’m just here to check out the girls’ dorms. Imagine my surprise to find you two here! Don’t tell me you ended up in the same room?”

“Who knows how the school allocates rooms!” both sisters huffed in unison.

Meanwhile, Su Ya stood to the side, utterly bewildered as she looked between the identical twin girls and the trembling girl in the corner. These twins must be her roommates, and from the looks of it, they seemed to know Ling Ning.

Ling Ning sighed and shook her head. “How many times have I told you not to fight in public? Look at what you’ve done—your roommate’s scared out of her mind. Can’t you resolve your issues like adults? If you can’t live together, just ask the staff to reassign your rooms.”

“We tried! They said the dorms are full, and there’s no one to switch with,” Li Qian muttered.

“Exactly!” Li Meng chimed in.

Ling Ning let out another sigh. “Then why did you both even come to live in the dorms? Isn’t your house nearby?”

“Of course, to experience college life! How can you say you’ve lived the college experience if you don’t stay in the dorms?” they replied in unison.

Ling Ning scratched her head in exasperation. “Well, since you’re stuck with this arrangement, make the most of it. Don’t fight in the dorm—think about your roommates’ feelings. If you really can’t get along, revisit the idea of switching rooms later. But for now, promise me you’ll behave.”

On the bright side, living together might help the sisters mend their strained relationship—or it could spark a World War III-level conflict.

As the sisters quieted down, Su Ya stood frozen, watching Ling Ning with wide eyes. For some reason, the authoritative tone Ling Ning used during her lecture seemed incredibly commanding.

After ensuring the twins were calm, Ling Ning turned to Su Ya and the unfamiliar girl. Smiling, she said, “Let me introduce you. This is Li Qian, and this is Li Meng. They’re twin sisters. Li Qian is the older sister, and Li Meng is the younger. Don’t be fooled by how they seem to hate each other—they’re actually pretty good people, though they can be a handful. I hope you’ll take good care of them.”

“Who’s a handful?!” the twins protested simultaneously.

Su Ya and the trembling girl exchanged looks. Thankfully, the twins were dressed differently; otherwise, it would’ve been impossible to tell them apart.

After everyone introduced themselves, Ling Ning learned the name of the girl she didn’t recognize: Lu Muyuan. For some reason, the name felt oddly familiar.

As the introductions wrapped up, Su Ya’s phone suddenly rang. Glancing at the caller ID, she saw it was her “almost boyfriend,” Xie Zeyu. Realizing it was nearly time for their date, she quickly stepped onto the balcony to answer.

“Xiao Ya, I’m so sorry,” Xie Zeyu’s voice came through apologetically. “My roommates dragged me to the internet café, and I can’t get away right now. I’ll make it up to you tonight. Oh, hang on—guys, I’m coming! Just hold the point! Talk to you later.”

Before Su Ya could respond, the line went dead.

Staring at her phone, Su Ya bit her lip in disappointment.

“What’s wrong?” Ling Ning’s voice startled her. Turning around, she saw Ling Ning standing behind her, her expression filled with concern.

“It’s… nothing.”

Judging by Su Ya’s expression and subtle cues, Ling Ning could tell something had happened—likely involving her “almost boyfriend.”

“Didn’t he ask you to watch a movie? It’s getting late,” Ling Ning probed gently.

“He called to cancel,” Su Ya replied with a sigh. She had been so excited for her first real date, only for it to fall apart.

“I see.” Ling Ning’s eyes narrowed thoughtfully before she suddenly smiled. “In that case, let’s go see a movie together.”

“Huh?” Su Ya blinked, startled.

“If your almost-boyfriend can’t make time for you, I can. What do you say?” Ling Ning asked, her gaze warm and inviting.

Caught off guard by Ling Ning’s sincerity, Su Ya nodded instinctively.

“Alright.”

Author’s Note:

Imagine trying to write while someone nearby blasts over-the-top soap operas at full volume. My brain was filled with lines like, ‘Chairman, that’s your daughter!’ and ‘You scoundrel, I still love her!’ I felt like a complete fool.
