Chapter 304 : I Want to Drink! Without Alcohol, I'll Die! Drinking Brings Me Joy!
“Ahh, so comfortable~”
Ling Ning was lying face-down on the couch while Lin Xi sat on her, hands working over her back. No funny business—just a straightforward massage.
Feeling Lin Xi’s hands kneading and pressing on her muscles, Ling Ning was impressed. She hadn’t been exaggerating earlier; her technique was genuinely skilled. Her sore arms and legs were starting to feel wonderfully relaxed under Lin Xi’s touch.
"Lin Xi, did you learn massage somewhere? Your skills are incredible… ah~"
"It's been passed down in the family~" Lin Xi tilted her head with a smile.
"Alright, massage’s over! Time to get up."
Lin Xi gave her a light pat on the rear, which made her realize how soft it was. She couldn’t help but feel an urge to smack it a bit harder.
“Hey! What was that for?”
Ling Ning sat up with a pout, rubbing the spot where Lin Xi had slapped her. It probably left a mark, she thought, outraged at Lin Xi’s audacity.
“Now, let’s drink! I need to drink! Without alcohol, I’ll die! Drinking brings me joy!”
Ling Ning reluctantly got up, shuffled over to the kitchen, and brought the beer she’d bought earlier from the fridge, setting it down in front of Lin Xi.
"To my damn ex-boyfriend—cheers!"
"Cheers…"
Ling Ning just sipped, while Lin Xi downed the whole bottle in one go, leaving Ling Ning dumbfounded. Was drinking like that really okay?
"Why don’t I feel anything?" Lin Xi frowned at her empty can. People said alcohol made you tipsy, but after an entire bottle, she felt nothing except that it tasted horrible. Maybe the beer was fake?
Ling Ning, both amused and exasperated, said, “This is your first time drinking, isn’t it? It takes a moment to kick in. You’ll feel it soon enough.”
“Really?”
A little while later, Lin Xi started feeling strange. Her head felt heavy, her speech was a bit slurred, and her cheeks felt warm.
Seeing her expression, Ling Ning thought she’d overestimated Lin Xi’s tolerance. With another bottle, she’d probably pass out completely.
“Well? Feeling it now?”
It was the first time Ling Ning had met someone with a lower tolerance than herself, which honestly delighted her.
“So, this is what it feels like to be drunk? Ugh, it’s awful…” Lin Xi slurred, now feeling worse by the second as her mind grew foggier. So this was what being drunk felt like.
“Want to keep drinking?”
Ling Ning placed her half-full beer in front of Lin Xi with a mischievous smile.
Seeing the smug look in Ling Ning’s eyes, Lin Xi’s mind suddenly went blank, and she snatched the beer from Ling Ning’s hand, drinking it without even caring that it had already been sipped.
Ling Ning was speechless. She hadn’t expected Lin Xi to keep drinking despite already being so tipsy.
After finishing another can, Lin Xi felt completely disoriented, as if the world around her were spinning. She couldn’t tell east from west anymore.
When Lin Xi reached for another beer, Ling Ning quickly moved to stop her. If she kept drinking, who knew what might happen?
"Alright, that’s enough. Let me help you to bed."
"No… I’m not going to bed! Drinking brings me joy!"
Lin Xi squirmed to free herself from Ling Ning’s grasp, and caught off guard, Ling Ning found herself falling back onto the couch, with Lin Xi landing on top of her.
Drunk and dizzy, Lin Xi looked down at Ling Ning beneath her and giggled. Then, to Ling Ning’s surprise, she leaned down and kissed her on the lips.
Ling Ning felt the softness of Lin Xi’s lips on hers and instinctively tried to push her off, only to realize her hands were pinned by Lin Xi. She struggled a bit but found she couldn’t break free.
This doesn’t make sense, she thought, baffled. How is Lin Xi so strong? Or am I just that weak?
Just then, she felt Lin Xi’s grip loosen. Lin Xi had gone limp, slumping against her. She didn’t need to check to know that Lin Xi had passed out.
Gently, Ling Ning pushed Lin Xi aside, touched her lips, and noticed a few spots of red on her fingers.
When she went to the bathroom to check in the mirror, she found that her lip had actually been bitten. That explained the stinging. She’d thought she’d bumped it on something, but no—Lin Xi had bitten her. Who bites people while kissing?
With a sigh, Ling Ning returned to the living room, and after some effort, managed to drag Lin Xi to her bed. Just as she was about to leave, Lin Xi’s hand suddenly grabbed hers.
Ling Ning tried to pull her hand away, but every time she let go, Lin Xi’s expression changed, as if distressed. Drunk or not, she just couldn’t be left alone peacefully.
Defeated, Ling Ning took a seat in a chair next to the bed, leaning on it as she decided to spend the night there. It wasn’t the most comfortable position, but it would have to do for now.
As she lay beside Lin Xi, feeling the softness of the bed, sleep quickly overtook her.
In the middle of the night, Ling Ning woke with a shiver; the air conditioning was too cold. She groggily opened her eyes, spotted the blanket, and instinctively climbed into bed to burrow under it.
Sensing something, Lin Xi immediately rolled over and latched onto Ling Ning like an octopus.
And miraculously, through it all, their hands never let go.
