How Could I Possibly Have a Daughter After Reincarnating?

Chapter 153 : Learning a New... Cough, Cough! Skill!

"As expected, even after so long without wearing a maid outfit, I’m still brimming with charm~" Ling Ning stood in the dressing room, admiring her reflection in the mirror, giving herself a silent thumbs-up.

It was a good thing the café had heating—otherwise, wearing this maid outfit would’ve been unbearable.

Ling Ning thought back. It had been almost two months since she’d last worked at the café. With the holidays, she’d finally wrapped up everything with Qin Qing and the magazine, freeing up some time to come by.

Maybe because it was the vacation, even Chu Feng had been dragged here by Chu Mengyao to help out.

Ling Ning saw Chu Feng sitting at the counter, looking deep in thought. She walked over, her curiosity piqued. "Little brother Chu Feng, what's up? Why the long face so early in the morning? Tell your Sister Ling Ning, let me share in your misery so I can have a good laugh~"

Chu Feng sighed at her question. "It’s nothing… I’ve just been feeling irritated lately, that’s all."

"Irritated?" Ling Ning tilted her head thoughtfully, then said, "Could it be that you've fallen for some boy, and you’re not sure how to confess?"

"Sister Ling Ning, just so we’re clear, I’m a guy. A guy!" Chu Feng exclaimed, clearly exasperated.

Looking at Chu Feng in his cat-eared maid outfit, all cute and fluffy, Ling Ning smiled and nodded. "I know, little brother Chu Feng is a boy. But there’s no rule that says boys can’t like boys!"

Chu Feng gave her a look of utter despair. He was losing hope in this rotten world.

"Alright, alright. I was just joking. Come on, tell me what’s bothering you, maybe I can help~" Ling Ning looked around. It was still early, and the cold weather had kept customers away, making it the perfect time to chat.

"Here’s the thing. A while back, I stepped in to help this guy who was getting mugged. It wouldn’t have been a big deal, except that I happened to be out shopping with my mom that day, so I was dressed in girls' clothes. And now that guy somehow found out I work here at my sister’s café, and every time I come in, he comes by looking for me. And then there’s Zhao Dezhu—I swear, these two are driving me crazy!"

"Well, you could just tell him you’re a cute boy," Ling Ning said as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

"I did tell him! But he didn’t believe me! He even said, ‘flat chests are a rare treasure, don’t give up on yourself.’ What else could I say? Should I whip out my DIO to prove it to him? And every time, he and Zhao Dezhu end up running into each other. Do you have any idea what it’s like to watch two grown men fighting over a boy? I’m losing my mind!"

After hearing Chu Feng’s story, Ling Ning found herself at a loss for words. She squinted thoughtfully and said, "Well, you could get yourself a girlfriend. Bring her around, and maybe that’ll snap them out of it."

"I’d love to get a girlfriend, but all the girls at our school treat me like one of their besties. Even if I managed to date one, they’d eventually dump me because they can’t handle the fact that I’m prettier than they are!" Chu Feng said in utter despair.

Ling Ning was about to suggest finding someone prettier than himself, but after looking at Chu Feng’s delicate face, she realized it might be a tall order.

Just as they were talking, the café door opened, and two tall figures walked in.

It was Zhao Dezhu and Sun Jie!

The two of them had, by some strange coincidence, bumped into each other at the door. Adhering to their self-imposed rule of not fighting in front of their "goddess" (?), they struggled to keep themselves in check as they entered together.

The moment they walked in, the tension in the air was palpable.

When Ling Ning saw Sun Jie, she frowned slightly. Wasn’t this the same guy who had been trying to chase after her a while back? His name was… Sun something, right? She thought hard but couldn’t recall it. Oh well, he was just some unimportant background character anyway.

Still, she hadn’t expected the guy Chu Feng saved to be him. What a small world it was.

Ling Ning chuckled and patted Chu Feng on the shoulder. "Your guests have arrived. Go entertain them~"

"No, please, Sister Ling Ning, save me!"

Chu Feng tried to make one last stand, but before he could do anything more, Chu Mengyao appeared by his side, smiling sweetly as she grabbed him and dragged him away.

Ling Ning nodded approvingly. As expected of siblings.

"Ling Ning, can I ask you something? What exactly did you say to Jiang Xue to make her change so much?" After dragging her brother away to handle the guests, Chu Mengyao came back over, curiosity written all over her face.

At Chu Mengyao's question, Ling Ning turned her head to look at Jiang Xue, who was busy working. There was no trace left of the clumsy girl she had been two months ago. Now, she carried herself with an air of competence—just like Ling Ning had back then.

"Well~" Ling Ning smiled, offering no explanation.

"Oh, by the way, where’s our legally-aged loli with the terminal case of chuunibyou? I haven’t seen Luo Xiaoning all morning."

Ling Ning looked around but didn’t see Luo Xiaoning anywhere. Normally, even if Luo Xiaoning didn’t want to get up, Chu Mengyao would have dragged her out of bed by now.

Chu Mengyao scratched her head sheepishly. "Well, uh, last night we... learned some new positions and tried out some new toys. I, um, didn’t quite gauge things properly, so now she’s… let’s just say she can’t get up today..."

"..."

Ling Ning stared at Chu Mengyao for a moment. Was it really okay for her to be telling her this kind of stuff? Also, what kind of new positions would leave someone unable to get out of bed?!

"Every time I think about you and Luo Xiaoning together, I can’t help but feel like you’re committing a crime. I seriously don’t know how you can bring yourself to do that to someone who looks so, well, childish—even if I know she’s legally of age."

"You just don’t get it, do you? The childlike ones are the most fun!" Chu Mengyao replied, her face lighting up.

Ling Ning gave her a look that said, quite plainly, "You’re a pervert." She silently resolved to never let her daughter near Chu Mengyao. She was just too dangerous.

Seeing Ling Ning’s judgmental look, Chu Mengyao had wanted to say something in her defense, but the café was starting to get busier, and it wasn’t appropriate to keep chatting.
