How Could I Possibly Have a Daughter After Reincarnating?

Chapter 133 : You're Still Too Sweet

"Li Meng!? What are you doing back here?" Li Qian asked coldly as she looked at the figure lounging on the sofa—a figure that looked exactly like her.

Indeed, the figure reclining on the couch was none other than her twin sister, Li Meng. The two were identical twins, with Li Qian being born just a few minutes earlier. They had the same appearance, height, and even similar personalities, like two peas in a pod.

By all logic, two people with such similar personalities should get along well, yet that was far from the truth.

Li Qian and Li Meng had never been close. They didn't even remember when the tension began, but it was there, from early childhood. No matter if their parents bought them the same things, they would always fight over the other's item, believing the other's possession to be somehow better.

Their parents had always been helpless about it—every three days, a small fight, every five days, a big fight. Finally, as the twins were about to graduate from elementary school, their parents made a decision.

They decided to separate them for middle school. They debated for a long time over who would go to which school but couldn't come to a conclusion. Finally, their father had enough and pulled a coin from his pocket...

And that's how Li Qian ended up attending a public school while Li Meng was sent to a private academy called St. Freya Academy. Now, both of them were in their senior year of high school. Although Li Meng's school had strict boarding policies, it also had one advantage—it ensured sufficient rest days. No matter how busy they got, they always got the breaks they were supposed to.

However, even when there was a holiday, Li Meng rarely came home. Usually, she only returned for winter and summer breaks, and whenever she did, both sisters kept themselves under control in front of their parents. If they absolutely had to fight, they'd either send their parents away or find a secluded corner to brawl.

Typically, Li Meng wouldn't come home more than once a month, but for some reason, after coming back just last week, she was here again.

"This is your home, but it's mine too. Why shouldn't I come back?" Li Meng replied provocatively, giving her sister a challenging look.

Li Qian looked at her sister deeply but said nothing, heading straight to her room. She knew if she stayed a second longer, she might not be able to resist throwing a punch.

After dinner, Li Qian stood quietly on the balcony, enjoying the cool evening breeze. It was a habit of hers—going out for some fresh air after a meal. Tonight, however, she wasn't alone. Her twin sister, Li Meng, was there too. Like Li Qian, Li Meng also had the habit of coming out to enjoy the breeze after dinner.

Li Qian glanced at her sister before taking out her phone. For some reason, she suddenly had the urge to call Ling Ning and ask if she wanted to hang out tomorrow. But she wasn't sure how to phrase it, so she just stood there, conflicted.

Just then, her phone rang.

To her surprise, it was Ling Ning calling. Li Qian found it odd—Ling Ning rarely ever called her.

"Hello, b***h." The moment she answered, she heard Ling Ning's familiar voice—annoying, yet somehow pleasant.

"What's the matter? Why are you calling me?" Although her tone was harsh, deep down, Li Qian felt a glimmer of hope. Was Ling Ning calling to ask her out tomorrow?

"Oh, nothing really."

At that moment, Ling Ning was lying in bed. She didn't have to go to Yang Bing's place for tutoring today, but she felt too stuck to write her novel, and her daughter was mysteriously busy with her computer. She even considered browsing the largest LGBTQ dating site but wasn't sure what she was looking for. Trying to sleep had also been futile.

Finally, out of sheer boredom, she decided to pick up her phone and annoy someone from her contact list. Remembering that she had scored a good meal off Li Qian today, Ling Ning figured she might as well call her.

Hearing Ling Ning's provocatively nonchalant reply, Li Qian felt her temple veins throb. "If you've got something to say, just say it. Otherwise, don't waste my time!"

"Eww~ Why are you talking about farts? That's gross."

"Cut it out! Why did you even call me?!"

"I'm just bored. Can't I call and chat with you?"

Ling Ning's voice sounded a little pitiful, though Li Qian knew she was faking it. Still, if Ling Ning was asking her to chat, there was no way Li Qian could let this chance go.

"Fine. I'll chat with you if you go shopping with me tomorrow."

Ling Ning narrowed her eyes, considering the offer. She really had nothing going on tomorrow, just a shift at the café to earn some extra cash. Since Li Qian had made the offer, how could she refuse? Plus, Ling Ning was hoping to keep Li Qian as her meal ticket for the foreseeable future.

Li Meng, watching her sister, knew exactly what was going on. They were twins, after all—she understood her sister's personality very well. Unlike her sister, though, she wasn't a tsundere. Hmph~

Even though her sister's tone was harsh, her expression was like that of a lovestruck schoolgirl. Was her sister talking to her crush right now? If that was the case, things were about to get interesting.

Hearing a girl's voice on the other end wasn't surprising either. At St. Freya Academy, girls being interested in other girls was practically commonplace, so Li Meng was used to seeing it.

Quietly, Li Meng moved closer to eavesdrop on her sister's conversation.

Li Qian decided to take a shower first. Coincidentally, Li Meng also wanted to shower at the same time, and the two found themselves facing off at the bathroom door.

"What is it? You won't shower if I don't? Are you looking for trouble?!" Li Qian snapped, glaring at her sister.

"That's my line. I was clearly here first, wasn't I?" Li Meng shot back, wearing an identical expression.

The two stared each other down for a while until Li Qian finally said, "Mom and Dad are home. Let's settle this the usual way."

Li Meng nodded. She didn't want to worry their parents either, so she agreed to Li Qian's suggestion.

The "usual way" was the same method they used to decide on their schools back then—a coin toss. Perhaps because they were twins, they often ended up doing the same thing at the same time, but they couldn't always fight about it. So they decided on coin tosses to settle things.

This time, luck was on Li Qian's side. She smirked at her sister and stepped into the bathroom.

"You're still too sweet, my dear sister."

Li Meng muttered to herself as she walked into Li Qian's room and picked up her sister's phone, which was charging.
