Chapter 180
Ch.180 Is this… could this be my child?
How long had we waited?
“He’s here.”
As the Demon King spoke, a tiny dot appeared in the sky.
“I’ll go first. Fight him.”
He transformed—wings unfurled—and shot toward Roy, now barely visible as a speck.
“Master, we’re too far to hit him with magic—what do we do?”
“We’ll have to get closer.”
They’d met. But no battle yet.
“If we move now, won’t we be spotted?”
“Hmm… wait until the fight starts.”
Moving now meant detection.
Once they clashed, Roy’s focus would be entirely on the Demon King.
That’s our moment.
I could hear them talking—casually, like old friends.
What are they even discussing?
Just fight already!
The Demon King and Roy, chatting like they were on a picnic.
Then—
—BOOM!
A deafening explosion.
They’ve started.
“Move slowly.”
The Hero Party nodded.
—KTHUMP!
From afar, the thunderous impact echoed as we crept forward, using cover.
Far away—but we moved cautiously, afraid of being seen.
Suddenly—
The Demon King crashed to the ground.
—CRASH!
The impact shook the earth like an earthquake.
Whoa… he’s gotten that strong?
I’d seen him take hits before.
Now I could only stare, tongue hanging.
Truly. This game’s balance is f*cked.
The Demon King shot back into the sky instantly.
They clashed again.
—Kraaagh!
A scream echoed.
I couldn’t see clearly—but he’d taken a fatal blow.
Oh no.
“Everyone—move fast.”
I feared the Demon King would die.
We sprinted forward.
—Kerch!
Roy severed the Demon King’s wings.
He slammed him into the earth.
“Is this… enough?”
“Hmm… distance is good. Will he notice?”
A slow-moving binding spell.
Should I try landing one fatal hit on Roy?
I raised Equality—aimed.
Meanwhile, Roy punched the pinned Demon King.
—Thud!
—Thud!
—Kraaagh!
I pulled the trigger.
—Bang!
Roy spat blood, reeling.
Epic Roy was affected by Equality’s effect.
After all—he was endgame content. Designed to be beatable.
If he dies now? Perfect.
“Who the hell are you?!”
Of course—he didn’t die.
“Who? Me?”
No choice.
Roy glared at me like he wanted to kill me.
“You… you’re determined to interfere to the end?!”
“Of course. My nickname is Adversary. That means I oppose you—until the end.”
At that moment—
Scarlet and Nekhuf dashed out at invisible speed.
—Shing!
“Hahaha! Do you know how strong I’ve become in Hell?!”
—Shing!
Roy blocked both attacks with smug confidence.
Then the Demon King joined in—pressuring Roy.
I joined too.
The more we exchanged blows, the more confusion crept onto Roy’s face.
“Damn… how? In such a short time?!”
His expression screamed disbelief.
Suddenly—Roy pulled back.
—Sssch!
Mia didn’t miss the opening—shot an arrow.
—Eeek!
Roy slashed the arrow with his blade, trying to create distance—but we pressed hard.
“Die!”
Roy’s left hand glowed purple.
The Demon King raised his hand—red beams shot toward Roy.
Oh? That damage looks good.
—Ghk!
Roy countered with his own purple beam—clashing with the red.
The Demon King was losing.
As the red beam began to retreat, I launched myself *between* the two beams.
—KWAANG!
A blinding flash exploded—but no real damage.
While the blast engulfed me, Scarlet and Nekhuf pressed Roy. The Demon King joined in.
Then—a ring of fire flew across us toward Roy.
Roy sliced it clean with his blade.
Huh? Blocked?
“What the hell is that?!”
—Shing!
Before Roy could speak, pressure resumed.
But… he took Equality’s hit and looked fine?
I aimed Equality again.
—Bang!
—Ghk!
Roy staggered back—Scarlet lunged with her dagger—
—Thud.
He rolled across the ground, evading.
He’s taking less damage from Equality than before?
Bug?
No.
Bugs don’t exist in reality.
Something else is happening.
Is it because he entered Hell alive?
Or is there some phenomenon the game never implemented?
I didn’t know. But I couldn’t let this continue.
I joined the assault with the Sword Saint’s Blade and Levi’s Dagger.
—Shing! Shing!
Metal clashed—sparks flew.
The Demon King’s claws grazed Roy—but didn’t cut deep.
—Kk!
Good. Just a little more…
Roy’s face showed growing panic.
“Remember! Don’t deal a killing blow!”
“No worries!”
—Shing!
Scarlet attacked fiercely—but it was a grazing strike.
Every hit was designed to drain his stamina.
Little by little…
We had to drain the King’s HP.
A ring of fire slithered between us.
Roy dodged effortlessly.
Clearly, magic was useless against him.
Then—
Black aura coated Roy’s blade.
—Kraaagh!
He swung it at the Demon King.
The Demon King raised his arm to block—
—Ssshh!
A sinister sound.
The Demon King’s body split in two.
—Kraaagh!
Then his body burst into flame—and vanished.
“T-The Demon King…”
“Don’t stop! Attack!”
I charged toward Roy.
His blade lunged for my torso—
—Whack!
I grabbed his sleeve.
—Ssssh!
Black aura met the Arbiter’s Armor—sparks erupted.
“Damn!”
At that moment—
A red ring flew toward Roy—wrapping around his neck, wrists, and ankles.
—Clank!
“Ugh! W-What is this?!”
The ring burned, turning into red chains that plunged into the ground.
“Khh! Do you think I’ll be trapped by this?!”
Roy tried to cut the magic with his blade—
—Flame Bind! Flame Bind! Flame Bind!
Dozens, hundreds of fire rings shot toward him.
—Eeek! Aaaahhh!
The King of the Dead writhed, struggling—
But the chains held, coiling tighter.
He thrashed wildly.
Then… he sighed.
“Hahaha… good. Next time, beware that spell.”
I looked at his smug expression.
“There won’t be a next time.”
“You know I have infinite regression.”
He grinned, venomous.
“I will win. How many pasts have I returned through to reach this point? Everything you do… is pointless.”
I ignored him.
“Leah? The artifact?”
“Here!”
The strange helmet she pulled out was unlike anything.
Copper-colored.
Asymmetrical gems embedded.
Even horns protruded.
“How do you use it?”
Leah placed it gently on Roy’s head.
Roy frowned.
“What is this?”
“To wake up Selena, who sleeps inside you.”
“Huh? She’s our Saint. What are you trying to do? Can it even work?”
Roy’s face twisted with rage.
I shrugged.
“The God of Death cheats. Don’t believe his lies. You’ve been deceived too.”
I knew the Bad Ending.
A world where all souls lost themselves, worshipping the God of Death.
His goal? To drain infinite divine power from the souls of every dead human.
“Hah! You always slander our God! The great, benevolent deity who grants mercy!”
“Benevolent? A god who kills your soul and forces you to worship him forever to harvest divine power?”
“Shut up! I won’t listen!”
Roy growled, furious.
I looked at him with pity.
“Foolish one. You gave everything to see your family again. But you’ve been used. The God of Death will keep his promise… but will your family be the ones you remember?”
Roy froze—as if struck by a hammer.
“What?”
“You won’t believe me anyway. Leah—activate it.”
“Right, right!”
She manipulated the gems on the helmet—light erupted.
“It’ll take about three minutes.”
“Three minutes? That long?”
One by one, the Hero Party gathered.
“Right, right.”
—Eeek!
As Leah fiddled with the helmet, Roy struggled desperately.
Scarlet kicked his back.
“Stay still. Don’t resist.”
“Ghk… this is humiliation!”
I asked nervously:
“Should we bind him tighter?”
Leah glanced at Roy, unconcerned.
“It’s fine. Just this, then we’ll add more layers of magic.”
“Good. Then… good.”
Finally, Leah finished.
“Master… I’m ready. Are you going in now?”
“Yeah. But… my body? Do I go in too?”
She shook her head.
“Eh? No way. We protect you.”
I scratched my cheek, embarrassed.
“You… believe in me?”
“We believe in ‘ourselves’.”
Leah smiled brightly.
“Even if the Demon King comes, we won’t lose anymore.”
“Then… I trust only you.”
“Hurry, Master.”
As she finished—
A blue light erupted from the helmet—and shot toward me.
***
The blue light faded.
The scenery changed abruptly.
Small, charming houses with orange-tiled roofs lined the streets.
“Where…?”
A clothesline hung in the courtyard.
Women’s and men’s clothes fluttered in the breeze.
Is this Selena’s mind?
I stared at the laundry.
What is this? Where am I? Where’s Selena?
Then—a voice.
“Hans?”
I turned.
There stood Selena—
Her belly was swollen.
Wait… what?
Selena was slender.
That belly…
It looked like she was pregnant.
I was stunned.
Then she smiled, walked over, and kissed my cheek.
—Mwah!
“Let me help you hang the laundry.”
She took clothes from the basket and hung them with gentle, cheerful motions.
“Uh…?”
She wore a long dress, elegantly spreading the garments.
Then—
She froze.
“Ahh…”
“What? What’s wrong?”
She waved it off.
“Oh… just the baby kicked.”
‘Could this… be my child?’
