Chapter 149 -: 148 Life and death!
A glowing gate had appeared just behind Crypian and Alia. It shone bright and colorful, like a swirling doorway made of magic.
A wide arch of rainbow light stretched from the gate all the way to the Love Guardian, sucking his power away.
With each passing second, the Love Guardian was getting erased.
His hands and legs were rapidly turning into ash, crumbling and floating off like gray dust while he kept the portal open.
"This is goodbye... Master..." The Love Guardian muttered.
His armored head slowly turned toward Crypian and Alia.
"I hope... you maintain your true love..." he murmured softly.
Then he pulled his gaze away and stared up at the ceiling, looking tired and done with everything.
It had been a long time since he was placed here by someone.
He didn’t know who it was. He didn’t even know what he was, a human or not.
But since the moment he came to be, he was only given one single duty... to find the most purest love pair and serve them as his master.
For many years the Love Guardian had waited in that dark place.
But no visitors ever came. No one showed up to take the trial... until today.
Today a group of people finally arrived and took the trial.
Everyone failed badly. They weren’t qualified at all. They all tried to restrict and control their partners the whole time.
But there was one particular pair who showed pure love without any restrictions.
After so many long years, he had finally found someone worthy.
He could finally acknowledge them as his masters.
But everything changed in just a few minutes. His gaze suddenly hardened. Hatred flashed in his eyes.
Two imbeciles had appeared and tried to kill his masters.
Those two imbeciles had nearly managed to kill them. But now everything was fine.
"Though it’s a pity I can’t serve them for much longer..." he sighed softly, looking a bit crestfallen. "But it’s enough!"
With that, his body started turning into ash even more fiercely. Gray flakes flew off faster, swirling around him like angry dust.

On the other side, Alia stepped forward.
She looked a bit sad as she stared at the Love Guardian. This guardian had given his life to save them. She sighed softly.
"We won’t forget this debt," she said. She bowed low toward the Love Guardian, showing him deep respect.
Then her gaze shifted to the masked pair.
Her face turned heavy and cold as she stared at them.
Since the moment they appeared, they had tried to kill them non-stop.
But somehow they had survived every time.
Still, the humiliation and the helpless feeling she felt burned fiercely inside her.
"I won’t forgive you," she said in a sharp voice. She took one step forward.
"Just you wait!" she muttered, then turned and entered the glowing gate.
Crypian also stared at the masked pair.
They were rushing toward them with frightening speed, but it was already too late.
"Today, I was vulnerable," he muttered. Then he took one step inside the glowing gate.
It was really a difficult day. If those natural causes hadn’t protected them, he would have died long ago.
But what happened, happened. There was no need to fret about it now.
What he would take from this was the burning desire to kill these two masked people.
He stared straight at them, raised his middle finger, and a mocking smile spread across his face.
"Go and fuck yourself," he said clearly.
He was about to take another step into the gate when Julius and Rosalina roared together.
"I won’t let you go!!!!" they both shouted at the same time. They raised their hands high in the air.
They looked very desperate. Their eyes were filled with pure intent to kill.
The moment they raised their hands, a large circle appeared in front of them.
The circle was pitch black. Inside it were intricate letters.
They weren’t normal circles with stumbles or formulas. These were messy letters, like written text.
The letters started to form into sentences, and soon they clearly became two sentences.
"Life and death!!"
"Cough! Cough! Cough!"
Julius and Rosalina both coughed up dark dead blood.
They coughed violently. Their faces lost all color as they kept holding the circle.
The circle started to scatter and break apart. The letters also scattered.
The "Life" letter flew toward Rosalina while the "Death" letter flew toward Julius.
Blood was still pouring from their mouths as they looked completely drained. This put serious pressure on them.

"We will kill for sure this time, you lucky fucker!!!" they roared, raising their hands even higher.
Though it looked like much time had passed, only a single blink had actually gone by since Crypian took that first step.
Even though he stood so close to the glowing gate, he couldn’t move forward.
The heavy pressure from their spell locked his body in place, trapping him right there.
"Infinite cast!" Rosalina spoke.
Her black eyes burned bright red as she struggled hard to keep the spell going.
"Life!" she roared.
The moment she shouted the word, a white smoke-like energy exploded out of her body.
It made her look even more pale and miserable. Her clothes fluttered wildly around her.
She coughed out another thick mouthful of black blood.
An intense pain ripped through her whole body, like a thousand needles stabbing her all at once, over and over.
Julius was the same. "Death!!" he roared.
A black smoke-like energy burst out of him. The pain hit him just as brutally, twisting every part of him.
"Let’s see what fucking fuck saves you this time!!!" they both screamed together.
The two energies, white and black, crashed into each other and mixed violently.
They twisted and fused, forming a deadly spear. The front side of the spear glowed pure white while the back side stayed pitch black.

Crypian’s mocking smile froze on his face as the spear took shape.
The pressure on his body grew heavier, pushing him down.
The glowing gate hummed just inches behind him, so close yet suddenly so far.
The Love Guardian’s crumbling body kept the portal open with the last bits of his strength, ash flying wildly around him.

Both of them raised their hands higher. Their vision was turning blurry.
"Die, you roach!" they snarled. A wicked grin stretched across their faces as they saw the look of disbelief in Crypian’s eyes.
And it was understandable. After all, this spell wasn’t normal.
They had never wanted to use this under any circumstances unless they were on the verge of death.
They had both come up with this spell after combining two different path spells from their families.
But it required a great sacrifice. They would lose ten years of their lifespan.
They didn’t want to use it. They both valued their lives.
They wanted to live long, much longer than any other being, so they could spend eternity with each other.
But right now they had no choice. He was still weak and didn’t even have that stupid system.
Even then, they weren’t able to kill him. How much more impossible would it be once he got out of here?
"Fuck no! Your life ends here, you shit!" Rosalina snarled as her body shook violently.
Julius immediately supported her body, holding her steady. Then he pushed the spear forward.
"Die!"
With that, he pushed the spear. ’This time it’s over,’ he thought.
It had taken so much effort to reach this point.
They had nearly died twice already. They were exhausted.
And now they had to use this spell that would take away ten years of their lifespan.
The sacrifice was something they could never explain to others.
Most importantly, if they told anyone that they needed to sacrifice this much just to kill a puny Crypian who was only at the Arcane Core stage, people would laugh at them.
But as long as he died, it was worth it.
Julius and Rosalina came down slowly, supporting each other as they watched the scene.
The spear vanished in an instant and appeared right in front of Crypian.
