I Just Became a Swordsman, why Did My Skills Become Sentient?

Chapter 7 : Chapter 7

Chapter 7. Staged Collision? My Name Is Vivian Shadowmoon!

Wu You: “…???”

He remained frozen in the middle of his sword swing, staring at the tiny figure lying unconscious on the ground.

His mind struggled to process what was happening.

What was going on?

The one tailing him… was a little girl?

And she was this easily frightened? She fainted just like that?

He quickly sheathed his sword and looked around cautiously.

After confirming that there was no ambush nearby, he crouched down and poked the little girl’s cheek.

“Hey. Wake up?”

No response.

“Are you trying to scam me?”

Still no response.

Wu You felt a headache coming on.

Leave this little one here?

If a wild beast carried her away or some criminal kidnapped her, his conscience would not allow it.

Although, to be fair, he did not have much of that left.

Bring her back into the city?

He would never be able to explain it clearly.

“Sigh…”

He sighed and bent down in resignation.

Using the relatively clean inner hem of his clothing, he wiped the dirt off the little girl’s face.

Then he carefully lifted her onto his back.

The little girl was shockingly light.

Carrying the unconscious little girl on his back, he left the main road.

Nearby, he found a small dirt slope that was relatively hidden and sheltered from the wind, and he set her down there.

Then he went to the riverside, scooped up some water with his hands, and gently splashed it onto her forehead.

“Mmm…”

The little girl’s long eyelashes trembled slightly as she slowly opened her eyes.

At first, her gaze was confused.

Then she saw Wu You crouching beside her, especially the sword at his waist that had nearly cut her earlier.

Immediately, she let out a soft “Waa,” her eyes turning red again as her body shrank backward, looking like she was about to faint once more.

“Stop! Hold it! Do not faint again!”

Wu You quickly raised his hands to show that he meant no harm.

“That was a misunderstanding earlier! I thought you were a bad person! I apologize! I am sorry! Alright?”

The little girl sniffed, staring at him suspiciously with her large emerald-green eyes.

Her tears trembled on the verge of falling.

Wu You tried to make his expression look friendly.

Although he suspected that his current appearance did not look very friendly at all.

“Whose child are you? Why are you running around alone? And why were you sneaking around following me?”

The little girl did not answer.

She simply stared at him.

Her gaze slowly changed from fear to scrutiny.

Then it gradually gained a strange hint of excitement.

Suddenly, she scrambled to her feet.

She puffed out her completely undeveloped little chest and tried to appear imposing.

However, with her dirty little face and messy hair, the effect was not very convincing.

“My name is Vivian Shadowmoon!”

She cleared her throat and spoke in a deliberately lowered voice that still carried a childish tone.

“I am a half-demon descendant who carries the noble and ancient bloodline of the ‘Night Shadow Succubus’ and the ‘Elemental Spirit’!”

Wu You: “…What?”

What kind of nonsense was this?

Was this some kind of middle school syndrome?

Seeing that he showed no reaction, Vivian seemed slightly dissatisfied.

She continued speaking in a tone that clearly tried to sound impressive.

“I can sense that there is something special about you! Even though it is hidden very deeply! Earlier at the guild, that sword strike of yours looked ordinary but contained profound mystery. It could not escape my eyes!”

She pointed a small finger at Wu You, her emerald eyes shining brightly.

“You have the qualifications to become my follower… no, my teammate! Follow me, human! I will lead you to explore the endless mysteries and treasures of this world!”

Wu You stared at her expressionlessly for three seconds.

Then he stood up, brushed the dirt off his pants, and turned around to leave.

What kind of joke was this???

He could barely afford to feed himself.

He was already supporting five demanding skill “ancestors.”

Where would he find the time to play pretend adventures with a child suffering from an unresolved middle school syndrome?

“Hey! Stop right there!”

Seeing that he was actually leaving, Vivian panicked.

She quickly ran after him with her short little legs and hugged his thigh tightly, refusing to let go.

“What are you doing? Let go!”

Wu You tried to pull his leg free, but the little girl held on with surprising strength.

“I will not let go! You have not agreed to become my subordinate yet!” Vivian said stubbornly, looking up at him.

“Who would want to be your subordinate! I can barely support myself!”

Wu You replied irritably.

“I am very powerful! My magic is extremely strong!” Vivian hurried to prove herself.

“As long as you agree, I can help you! Those Slimes—one of my spells can blow a whole group of them away!”

“Oh? Really?”

Wu You stopped struggling and looked down at her.

“Then why do you look so miserable? Your clothes are ragged, and your face is as dirty as a little kitten.”

Vivian’s face immediately turned bright red.

She stubbornly retorted, “Th-That is… that is because I am undergoing harsh training! Experiencing the hardships of common people! What would you know!”

“Sure, sure. Experiencing hardships.”

Wu You did not bother arguing with her.

He continued trying to pull his leg free.

“Let go. I have to go do my mission. If I delay any longer, it will be dark.”

“Take me with you!”

Vivian tightened her grip even more and started acting shamelessly.

“If you do not take me, I will not let go! I will tell everyone that you bullied a child! You even threatened me with a sword and scared me until I fainted!”

Wu You: “…”

This unlucky kid!

He looked down at the little girl clinging stubbornly to his leg with a clear “If you do not agree, you are not leaving” attitude.

Then he looked up at the sky.

Finally, he sighed helplessly.

“Fine, you can come with me,” Wu You conceded, but he set some conditions.

“First, you must behave on the way and not cause trouble. Second, if we encounter real danger, stay far away. Third, if you hold me back, I will leave you behind immediately. Understood?”

Vivian’s eyes lit up.

She immediately nodded repeatedly like a pecking chicken.

“Understood! Do not worry! I am very reliable!”

“And one more thing,” Wu You added, pointing at the hand still gripping his thigh.

“Can you let go now, Your Great Half-Demon Lady?”

Only then did Vivian release him.

She awkwardly patted the dust off her robe.

But soon she raised her little chin again and tried to pose like a powerful leader.

“Hmph. At least you know what is good for you! Then let us depart, my follower… um, teammate!”

Wu You rolled his eyes and did not bother correcting her title.

He turned and walked toward the western suburban forest.

Vivian hurriedly followed behind him with her short little legs, chattering nonstop.

“By the way, what is your name? What class are you? That move you used earlier was so strange. It looked like a basic Upward Slash, so why was it so powerful? Do you have some kind of secret? Tell me. I promise I will not tell anyone…”

Wu You felt a headache from all the noise.

He quickened his pace, hoping to reach the destination as soon as possible.
